A yellow 14 PM would look cool with a black case.

To bees.

Actually, it would have a cool 80's Walkman Sport kinda vibe to it.

Nuh-uh ... you mean Beess.

Unfortunately the term is still prevalent in society today.

Regardless, today brands need to be aware and sensitive to culturally appropriate marketing.
I hope and don't think it was done on purpose.
But just as you probably wouldn't have an indigenous person holding a red iPhone, they might have been better to not use an asian person holding a yellow phone. It would eliminate any accusations of being racist.
I agree with you 100%.
Did actually work with a *ic* who had this view on them. I said a few, or actually many words to him what I thought of it, and him. We don’t work together anymore. No loss there🙂

As you say, one can only hope that Apples advertising hopefully didn’t think about it.
If they were I can presume that we had heard something about it.

But it’s a shame that in 2023 we still have this in a modern society.

I dont understand the desire for color. Once you slap case on it - some people don't use cases? - who can tell? I was actually surprised to remember my iPhone 13 was green until I took off the case last week.

THIS is what will get me to upgrade from my 12 Pro. /s
The great majority of people upgrade when they need something new because their old device starts to be too old, not year after year, companies don't make annual upgrades to make people upgrade yearly they do them to stay competitive, personally, for example, "recently" I upgraded from 6s to X and then from X to 13 and they always have been great upgrades with many new features and big improvements to existing features like camera and screen quality and so on.

Pros always get boring dingy colors :( Could we have bright colors ever?
No, because cultural conventions and Apple’s unmistakably aggressive product segmentation strategy dictates that saturated, plasticy bright colors signal “midrange” “kids/teens/young adults”, while desaturated, darker metallic colors signal “premium”, “professional”, etc.

Apple is mainstream and thus has to apply design and marketing language that even the least tech savvy can understand.

It’s the same reason why Beats audio products get all this “urban” flair and bold neon plastic finishes, while AirPods are white or metallic iPad Air colors and premium materials.

Any vagueness about the value of the product and the whole value ladder is out the window.

I for one am looking forward to next week's color announcements (whatever they are). At that point I can decide whether to upgrade my 13PM or wait until the 15 (I like to buy my phones in the Spring).

I think that this article is wrong, and I do think that if there is a product briefing next week it will *not* be an iPhone color.
It’ll be Apple Music classical, which will make its first appearance in iOS 16.4 Beta 3 directly after it’s released.
Just like how the “ lock down mode” was introduced to the press directly before a beta for it came out, and full iCloud encryption, which was revealed to the press directly before launching a beta.
If there is a new color, it’ll just be updated on the website.

This might be the excuse I need to switch from my 14 Pro Max to a regular iPhone 14… I will hold off till I see pictures 🤤❤️
My god! This will be a huge downgrade when it comes to the Camera spec’s. Unless you go with the iPhone Plus model. My fingers are crossed that we’re also going to see the new iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max color. Maybe it’s going to be color red how it was reported a few weeks ago.

Remember the product red iPhone 8.

I would only lose the 2x zoom lens and everything else would be the same unless I’m missing something. Maybe it would come in the smaller size Pro. I just want to downsize and see how it goes.

Red isn’t my color but yellow, green, blue and the white and silver looks nice

So should Apple not display a black person near a Space Grey/Midnight Mac?

All I can think of is how Steve Jobs hated yellow products. There's a good anecdote about this in the Jony Ive biography where they're looking into making multiple colors of the iMac G3.
