I hope they use the same method to coat this in black that they've used with the space black watch and link bracelet. I've found the DLC coating to be very durable and can't really see any scratches on my watch and band. The only reason I've hesitated to get the eBay/Amazon ones is that I imagine the black "paint" they use would chip fairly quickly. If they use DLC coating for this then I'm sold!

I wish they'd do one of these for the Apple Watch Sport. I'd love to buy a Sport (and use the Sport band for work) and buy an extra Milanese Loop for when I was going out. I'm worried the aluminium will clash with the stainless steel though.
It actually doesn't look bad on the sport as long as you have the silver sport watch. I wear it all the time on mine. It's okay looking on the gold. It looks bad on the space grey. And I haven't tried rose gold, assuming it's not bad since gold isn't too bad

With these recent Apple Watch releases, it's making me think that either the Watch 2 won't come out anytime soon, or it will have the same current design making so it's compatible with the current bands.

It will be announced in March. New internals and slightly thinner. Same shape, and band connection. The real question is if the S2 will be 14nm. :apple:

I think Watch 2 will be very similar to Watch 1 design wise. At least the bands will still be compatible. For me the biggest issue with the watch is how slow it is - launching apps native or otherwise, using Siri. I don't need some radical new case design.

Be careful of dissimilar metal charge.

This. If the Watch 2 only features improvements under the hood and a slight design change (thinner, cuz Apple) I don't think many would be disappointed. In fact, I think many would be very pleased. Co-worker loves his watch except for the slowness.

My DLC was scratched and rubbed off within the first few weeks. I was at the Apple Store this weekend to actually get a replacement via Warranty....I can say I am looking forward to the Loop in black as it was down to that in Stainless Steel or the Space Black link (I went with black)

That's me. And I think a lot of the complaints about apps wouldn't exist if there was no latency. What I wonder is, what will Apple do for existing watch owners? Will they give us a way to trade in our watch for a new one? Or will they just announce Watch 2 and if Watch 1 owners want a new one they buy Watch 2 with a new band and try and sell Watch 1 on their own? I hope Apple offers something, some way to make it easy for Watch 1 owners to upgrade. In fact if Apple will be updating the Watch every year I wish it would go on an installment plan like iPhone.

I have the silver Sport. Bought a third party Milanese Loop from Amazon for $27. It looks great, IMHO.

That looks really nice! I sold off my AW as I cannot stand how slow the 3rd party apps are. Most of the time it's faster for me to just grab my phone.

I'm excited to see what Apple brings for Apple Watch 2 and I'm really curious if the bands will be compatible. Since it's Apple I doubt it, but I'm really hoping they are.

IT LOOKS SO NICE....

WHY DO THEY HAVE TO DO THIS RIGHT AFTER I BOUGHT A MILANESE LOOP FOR MY SPACE GREY SPORT!!!

It would probably look like that gray car with the off-gray fender after it was replaced because of a wreck.

Because it was briefly on the store, doesn't this mean an official release is imminent?

That is exactly what I'm thinking--They are keeping the band design the same. I do believe there will be a refresh this spring. As funny as it sounds to say, this watch needs something more compelling than what we have now. For many of us, there are enough features to justify the cost, but for the masses, there aren't. And at less than a year, I'm noticing UI lag that feels like the watch doesn't have the headroom to do much more. What I'm most excited about is the prospect of them not pulling an Apple and changing the band design for the next watch. It gives me more confidence to invest in the nicer bands moving forward.

Opinions on Apple Watch 2:
  1. Hoping the band changing system will be the same so that if I get the AW2 I don't fell bad about having just bought a $150 band for it.
  2. Trade in/installment plan:
    1. Hopefully Apple will offer some trade in or installment plan similar to the iPhone upgrade program.
    2. This would especially make sense if they are doing a yearly or 1.5 yearly upgrade cycle.
  3. Hoping there is minor changes to the design, the AW 2 will hopefully focus on: battery improvement, app speed, less reliance on iPhone, and possibly some extra health sensors.
  • :) What do you guys think?
