With these recent Apple Watch releases, it's making me think that either the Watch 2 won't come out anytime soon, or it will have the same current design making so it's compatible with the current bands.
I'm thinking the same thing. Maybe it is possible that the Apple Watch 2 won't be released this March and instead possibly Late 2016.

Opinions on Apple Watch 2:
  1. Hoping the band changing system will be the same so that if I get the AW2 I don't fell bad about having just bought a $150 band for it.
  2. Trade in/installment plan:
    1. Hopefully Apple will offer some trade in or installment plan similar to the iPhone upgrade program.
    2. This would especially make sense if they are doing a yearly or 1.5 yearly upgrade cycle.
  3. Hoping there is minor changes to the design, the AW 2 will hopefully focus on: battery improvement, app speed, less reliance on iPhone, and possibly some extra health sensors.
  • :) What do you guys think?
@JeremyPilcher

Highly doubt they'll make it less iPhone reliant. The Apple Watch is a product that makes you stick with the iPhone. They want that. They don't want you to use it with your Samsung phone.

I think Watch 2 will be very similar to Watch 1 design wise. At least the bands will still be compatible. For me the biggest issue with the watch is how slow it is - launching apps native or otherwise, using Siri. I don't need some radical new case design.

That's hardly surprising since the Siri command has to go

Watch --- BT Link --- Iphone ---- Server
Start App --- BT Link --- Iphone <----
If it's non native its even longer.
I'm guessing, if the processor in the watch was powerful enough and mem big enough, they could store some info in the watch itself (and not go to the server) and speed that up.

With these recent Apple Watch releases, it's making me think that either the Watch 2 won't come out anytime soon, or it will have the same current design making so it's compatible with the current bands.

The Apple Watch design could be shrinked by half its width and the current bands would still fit. Looking at the slot mechanism, it's clear that they had longevity of a standard band in mind.

I love my milanese loop. I may have gotten this one if it was available, depending on how dark it was. I definitely would have tried it on. I wish they would make a lighter space gray version alongside space black. I think a medium-dark would be perfect for me, or even better, a warm gunmetal. I have a nice pair of Oakley titanium prescription frames that are a warm gunmetal sort of color that goes really well with my dirty blonde hair. I've often wished my watch could match that.

I always thought that someday Apple would have local dictation on the iPhone. I figured it was some sort of hardware limitation, since Siri was more advanced than the old voice dictation on the iPhone 4. Now I'm not sure if that will be the case. Apple gets so much useful voice data for machine learning by sending everything to their server. Perhaps someday the iPhone will have the performance and battery budget to do the machine learning on the fly and later, on WiFi, report what it has learned to iCloud for improving products. Or maybe at some point it won't need to learn much because voice recognition will be practically flawless. Unfortunately, either way, it will probably be a while before it happens.

You all DO know that you shouldn't mix aluminum with stainless right?

It's fine. My wife has had a Milanese Loop on her Silver Aluminum since July and there isn't even a hint of corrosion. She's gotten the watch wet plenty of times.

Galvanic corrosion requires other conditions to catalyze the reaction that aren't common/constant with a watch on your wrist. Plus, I understand Apple coats these materials with a protective coating.

I have heard some Apple Store employees will bring up this corrosion concern, but you should ignore it. They are probably just telling you what they read on the internet too.

It will very likely have the same current design but with upgraded internals. Much as people like to think otherwise Apple doesn't change the compatibility of accessories at every iteration.

I have the stainless Milanese loop and also got a third party space black milanese loop for my wife's space black sports for christmas. The quality and feel appears to be identical.

I have the space black watch and even got it when you had to buy the black SS bracelet with it.

However, I like using the sport bands because I feel like it's less likely to damage the watch and also sliding it in/out I feel has less potential to damage the watch.

Still, I might have to buy this one if it comes out soon!! :)

Compatible with the current bands.

Oh, absolutely. I can confirm that for you now. There is no way on Earth Apple are gonna trash all the bands that people have invested money in. There would be overwhelming distaste from every Apple Watch owner whose laid down money to have a selection of bands. Of course, this is Apple and they'll do what they want. But making all first gen bands incompatible would be a very, very bad move. Still, they could make the Apple Watch thinner and still have the band connectors be compatible.

I find the popularity of the black components a little telling. Every Watch I've seen has been black and the demand for black apparently caught Apple off guard. Suggests to me maybe people generally are not yet ready to display these things quite as as proudly as the models in the ads.

I thought the Space Black AW looked really cool and actually more like gunmetal gray on the website, but when I got it and started wearing it with things, it's looked too dark. I'm actually planning on trading it in with an iPad mini for the stainless steel with a black leather classic buckle band (combo unavailable at launch). I first had the silver stainless steel with the link band, but that felt too damn shiny. I wish we could get the color of the gray sport on the stainless steel model.

Was with you right up to the last sentence. Uh what? First off, I don't wear any watch to impress others, I couldn't care less about their opinions. Secondly, I picked black (Space Gray Sport) specifically because I like the way it looks, having carefully considered the options. I like the way the black screen flows into the dark body. It has nothing to do with lurking in dark corners hoping no one notices my watch choice. Currently wearing my Space Gray Sport with a darn-good-for-$30 knockoff of a black Milanese loop, and I'd absolutely buy a real one if Apple releases it, because I like the way it looks and feels.

There's no perceptible difference in quality between the genuine article and the clone? What brand did you get, and from where?

I might actually pull the trigger on a clone milanese in black to go with my stainless 42mm. I think that would look pretty sweet. But I'm picky about the craftsmanship and don't want to be constantly reminded that it's not to Apple's level of quality.

The aluminium on the loop doesn't clash with the sport watch too much. I have it and it looks pretty slick

I'm confused. You want to use the steel Milanese loop with an aluminium sport? You can do that already, all the watches are physically identical. Or do you want an aluminium loop?

But what about contact/galvanic corrosion if you mix the aluminium space grey Apple Watch with a steel band? I don’t want that the steel band kills the aluminium of my watch.

How did you find the JTech product? I tested a few of there bands and in my experience they were just shocking! I noticed they done this type of band but didn't want to risk it, due to previous experience's.

Although a company called Moko do the same type of band a the link bracelet (courtesy of another MacRumours member)

Works well after months of use. Magnet strong (almost too much) no scratches, fading, etc.

How's the durability of it? I bought a similar one from another manufacturer and while it's okay, it seems to bend a little easy.
really good It was a good purchase IMHO
[doublepost=1452138213][/doublepost] IMG_0750.jpg IMG_0754.jpg IMG_0751.jpg My 3 month old el-cheapo Amazon.com band. Durable, no scratches, no fading, and super strong magnet. Also super light. $30 I suck at taking pictures even with a 6s Plus...

i think you mean thickness? width would create one odd looking rectangular shape and actually is the only dimension which could NOT change due to the bands.

THIS. No excuse not to either, since they're using 7000 Series Aluminum in the iPhones now.

space black is DLC coated stainless steel, not aluminium. the aluminium comes in space grey (which incidentally they do already make an iphone in; just an inexplicably different shade)

In my case, I knew I wasn't going to pay more than the asking price for the 42mm Sport model, and I can't stand bright colored plastic watches or bands. I never liked the trend back in the Swatch days and it still does nothing for me. Black was my only option to make the Sport watch still look respectable, IMO.

I went with this one: https://thesaltyfox.com.au/collecti...atch-band-for-apple-watch?variant=10515005507

Showed up on my door the very next day. Highly recommended for both quality and service.
