It's pretty clear that's the case. Watches are being assigned to orders only once they reach distribution centres in their respective countries. If they were being assigned from the point of origin, before being shipping out all over the world, we'd all have been charged before they event left China, and receive tracking information then.

What's happened at launch, is Apple has allocated inventory in local distribution locations, and begun fulfilling those orders based on the relative order location.

This is probably why we're seeing people who ordered the same sku in different regions getting their units before others who ordered earlier.

Apple must have been stockpiling inventory at these hubs before the pre-order date, only to find afterwards, they stocked too many of the low demand versions, and not enough of the high demand ones, like the Space Grey Sport. I don't think they ever expected the SGS to be so popular, given they only had it with a single freaking band colour.

I choose this for better wear and tear. I've found that black holds up better then the other lighter colors would. The iPad cover light blue taught me that.

THEY HAD 2 WEEKS TO RAMP UP and make inventory based on their preorders. Yet they still couldn't fulfill SG orders made 4 minutes into preorder time. Heck their still doing 3 minutes.

Apple que is on their 24 hour clock .... Time stamp on email is not what apple has....trust me .... I've been over that with them couple of times
Yes.. that's absolutely correct. What you really want to know is your position in Apple's order database, which only Apple has access to. The time on the order confirmation email might gives you a rough idea of your position in Apple's queue, but it's only be that — a rough estimate.

Emails can travel different paths through multiple servers that vary in speed. The email timestamp tells you when the order confirmation hit your inbox, not when the order was accepted by Apple. Apple would not even know what the timestamp was on your email since that is not sent back them.

So Cal here and my 42mm SG watch is coming from Tennessee.

My wife's 38mm came from Rialto on launch day.

I don't think location really matters. Mine will be here Monday.

12:04:12 order time.

There are other factors I am sure. It appears that where you are in the nation is also a factor, but I don't think that it should be because it's not fair that people who ordered at 3:04am are getting deliveries or shipment notifications after people who ordered at 3:06, etc who are technically in the next delivery range.

Country I am sure matters, but in the States I doubt location matters. How do you know that it doesn't go by something like time placed in cart with a certain time limit before it times out? How do you know if the app has to jump through other hoops compared to the web store? Maybe some banks took longer to confirm so it delayed the final order actually going through? Maybe someone who ordered the same model as you neglected to post that they live in a different country that has more of certain SKUs? No one here has any idea how the order system works.

Hoping for some movement tomorrow!!

SG42BSB just left philly for Monday delivery so, they're definitely moving product over the weekend (I already knew this, just saw some questions about Sunday movement above).

News for Germany:
I just got in contact with "THE CORNER BERLIN" (the only store here, that is selling Apple Watches).
They will get new Sports Space Grey 42mm at the end of the next week (April29-30). So I hope, that our orders will be delivered by then, too.

Seems like 42 SG BSB are moving in Oz as of 30 minutes ago.

Just not mine.
Maybe this post will make it do so.

Me. It's telling me Order Status services are busy.

Everyone over at the UK forum is reporting the same. Hopefully this means that there's going to be some movement for us seeing as we haven't had any new watches ship since before launch day!

I just noticed the pending charge for Applecare dropped off my credit card. It's been there there since I pre-ordered, so anybody has any idea if that means anything? I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but, this is the first update I've had of any kind. :D

Xx:04:22 eastern time on 4/10. Still no movement on my 42mm SG W/BSB

Order status (6:54am Eastern) kiosk was just down in the store as well (at least through app).

Maybe a flood of updates?

IN NY as well.

3:06 EST 42mm SG, 4-6 weeks (5/13-5/27), processing, will ship to central FL. I called CS yesterday to change my credit card for the order. She said, "I'm just curious, why did you order that particular configuration?"

My watch is scheduled to be delivered my tomorrow afternoon. I submitted a request to UPS to have it re routed to a local UPS store for pick up, but my tracking still shows the destination as my home town. Do you know when and even if the delivery change will be confirmed in the tracking?

It should show up shortly as the system updates order changes in batches. You might think about reassigning the package for a hold at the customer counter unless you're certain the hub that it's being delivered to (that services your home address) also services the UPS store you want to send it to. If they don't, you risk adding another day of transit to your package.

My personal Hell that I wake up to every day...

The extra day is worth not having to go to my sorting hub. The few times I've had to pick up a package there, the line was out the door and parking was a mess. There is only a half dozen parking spaces. I think I waited a little over an hour in line to pick up my package.
