In case anyone cares how 'just in time' they are manufacturing these watches.

My watch is being delivered today. Based on the serial number, it was manufactured last week (week 17).

That watch could have been assembled as late as Saturday on week 17. This supports the theory that these trickles we're seeing are production being shipped when assembled.

Total speculation here but you have to consider UPS' capacity to deliver 1M+ watches also. UPS may have given Apple a very nice rate for over night shipping however may have needed to put stipulations in that restricted Apple to only ship X amount of watches a day to any given region of the US.

During the holiday season UPS scales it's workforce in order to meet the requirements of delivering the additional packages however I am doubtful they would bring on additional people just for the launch of a new Apple product.

Again, total speculation as I have ZERO background in this area.

I have no idea either, but it is pretty obvious UPS has not added any flights. Looking at the flight history for UPS seems like business as usual. I did a quick calculation comparing weight (not dimensions) and one UPS plane could potentially hold 246,000 watches per flight. Sure this could a little less due to dimensional restrictions, but I figured that on 3lb boxes, which is a little heavy. Anyway, there is no way apple is shipping almost a quarter million watches a night. Not even close if this board is to be believed. This shortage is on Apple. Though they are still ahead of most delivery estimates.

All great points! I agree on this being on Apple, just really poor production and supply chain management.

ordered a 42mm SG with Black sports band at :07- AMEX was charged yesterday 4/28 at 11:41 am. No change in status, still says processing. To be delivered to Boise, ID

I can't believe that me ordering one day after the pre order went live means I won't get my watch for at least a month after launch. Even worse than that, people who ordered five MINUTES after the pre orders opened up still don't have their watches four business days after the launch. Yikes. Poor production planning for sure.

Would you mind shooting me the link for the site that looks up the serial number mfr week? I can't seem to track it back down.

They are ahead of every delivery estimate. The shortest delivery estimate was April 24th until next Friday.

I guess I am just trying to make myself feel better and find a reason why someone in any state other than the ones directly near me with an order confirmation email of XX:06:05 received a charge on their CC and here I am in Southern NH (very close to Boston) with an order confirmation of XX:04:45 and Apple system time of XX:04:44 hasn't seen any activity.

With that said I also see how caring about when a WATCH will show up at my house is a little crazy. Although for some reason we do care despite there being far greater things to actually care about.

Sharing the pictures of watches received is a cool I think. That dude was checking this tread every hour for the last ## days, drove all the way to a UPS center to pick it up... and he's stoked.

Thanks for sharing. It looks killer.

Enjoy

Thanks!

Yeah, wasn't meaning to upset anyone who hasn't received their Watch yet, or trying to "flaunt" getting mine while others on this thread are still waiting. Just wanting to give some hope and encouragement to those other folks still waiting with second and third wave shipping dates like myself, that their SG's have a very good chance of coming much sooner that expected, and to hang in there! I know I was very pleasantly surprised to get charged and see a change in my "Processing" status so soon after official launch day, since there was such an apparent backlog of orders being fulfilled for the SG's and I wasn't able to get my order in until after the initial 2-4 minute envelope and certainly didn't expect to get it for another 2-4 weeks. So, best of luck to everyone, and I KNOW you will be seeing your own Watches delivered much sooner than Apple's projected shipping times!

Charged

CHARGED this morning @ about 3:30 CDT.
According to the text I received from my CC, my payment was processed by :apple: at 4:42am EDT, which is more than an hour after I submitted my order - email confirmation at xx:06:36 on 4/10.

No UPS tracking info yet but I'm pretty hopeful it will get to me by Friday!

Thanks to all of you keeping the rest of us informed (and at time entertained:))

Best of luck to those still waiting.

So, I stayed up to 2 am to get my order in for me and my wife. The entire day I catch hell from the wife... "I can't believe you are staying up... You are such a nerd ... " Yada yada. I ordered her the 38mm white sport along with my 42 SG all while she is tucked away in bed . Wouldn't you know, she got hers on Launch day and I'm here watching for any status change for mine. That's about right...

Same thing here. Houston, TX.

My Theory

Somewhere deep in the bowels of Cupertino…

“OK, let’s release a 42 SG BSB to the person in Dallas, TX with an order time of XX:06:42”

One minute later – a room full of people burst out laughing

“That got MacRumors going! They’ve all got new speculations as to our release process. This is hilarious!”
“Yeah, the XX:04’s are pulling their hair out – this is GREAT!”

“OK, lets release a bunch to Canada in the XX:04 to XX:07 range”
“Great idea. I love all of the U.S.-Canadian insults back and forth”
“Maybe we’ll get another Ontario/Ontario thread – I love reading geography challenged comments”

“Let’s release some 38’s and some SS just to throw the ‘theorists’ off”

“We’ve got to speed this up. We have 6 planes ready to take off. How should we mess with the forums this time?”
“Let’s go back and fulfill the XX:03’s”
“No, I have a better idea – Let’s send them all to Best Buy for in-store purchase!”

The room bursts into laughter again…

:DAwesome... There are no other words

Don't know where you are in New Jersey, but if comparable to NYC you should get an email shipping notification this afternoon, followed by UPS recognizing the tracking number several hours later, and delivery tomorrow.

Central NJ...Hoping you are spot on though!

You (kinda) lucky American people you're waaaaaaaaay ahead of Europe: we are about 3 minutes late in the order!

Anyway, I ordered a 42mm Sport Space Gray BSB at 09:07:?? (UTC+1). Destination is Paris, France and it's still "processing"

If Apple is processing roughly 1 minute of orders per day, I think I won't get any news before, let's say, Monday... erf. Time to go outside and smoke a cigarette – just like all French people do. I may also practice my mime skills by faking having an Apple watch.

They don't even seem to be doing 1 minute per day, or we'd already be up to the :09s. I'm :05 and still not seeing any movement.

How so? It was released Friday (01), adding Sat, Sun, Mon, Tue (05). Means they started working on the 05s yesterday. It'd also make sense that it'd actually slow down after a few minutes as they can only product a finite number of watches prior to launch and it's pretty evident that they sold all those and then some. At this point in time almost everyone that's still owed a watch has to wait for it to actually be manufactured.

2 things about this:

1) Apple started charging on Monday of last week, therefore yes, if it was a minute a day, we would be at 9.

2) Accoriding to another thread about build weeks, devices weren't manufactured until after the pre-order date. So there weren't a bunch of watches sitting around and those units are now gone and now everyone has to wait for new ones to be made. I pre-ordered 4/10-12:04:18 and my unit was produced between 4/13-4/19.

There are outliers, but SG orders in the US seem to be roughly following this pattern. A few :03's and :04's to go and into the :05's with a few :06's now.

Based on reports from several who received them yesterday, those watches were assembled in week 17 i.e. as late as last Saturday.

Most of the activity on this forum has been :02-:06's so we might be able to infer that peak orders trailed off from :07 and later. If that's the case the current delivery rate will remain until the :07's are done.

Whether or not is gets faster for subsequent orders would depend on whether production of SG remained at the current level or was adjusted.

Off course this is all speculation.

My wife's Sport w/Green was manufactured week 14 or as late as April 5. If they are building 250-300K/wk there wasn't a huge supply for day 1, but many more per day went out last Fri/Mon than we're seeing now.
