Still doesn't explain the lack of bands, particularly leather loop which has hardly shipped at all. There must be multiple bottlenecks.

Like I've been saying, this is a very poorly planned and executed production and supply chain management issue. The new SVP from Burberry is likely due for a quick exit after this, especially after she says things like "the days of lining up are over." If this is her idea of the "new" way, then she's toast.

I think this taptic issue is going to push us with Space Gray back and closer to the May 13 - 27 dates we were given, due to how popular this particular model is and its short supply. Hopefully we get them sooner, but the report makes sense for the short supply and why certain models showed after launch date ship times when the store came back up for preorders. It can't come soon enough though :)

Potentially, but consider if they saw demand and put too many say 38mm in the mix then that actually needed. It could skew the process.

That's a valid point. I, myself was switching between the aluminum and space gray colors. I wound up ordering the space gray and luckily enough when I finally saw them in person, was glad I chose that one. I could see where others remained undecided until launch which could of kept the production lines skew more towards a secondary popular color that eventually may not be kept.

I suppose the first color we see in the store change from a June delivery would likely be the color that most people ordered but cancelled causing them to have excess.

Standard Disclaimer: all theories, no facts.

In what way is it poor? Because you didn't get yours before someone else that ordered ONE MINUTE after you? Every single watch being made is literally leaving the factory and going straight to people. Not a single one will be sitting on a shelf at any point. Not for one minute. That's a pretty signifcant resume builder to state that you're able to create/launch a product that isn't able to sit on a shelf till a month AFTER it's released.

Read this online:

Wondering why your Apple Watch won't ship for weeks, even though you ordered as soon as humanly possible? The Wall Street Journal might know why. Its sources claim that some Taptic Engines (the haptic feedback unit that vibrates your wrist) broke down in early testing, prompting Cupertino to switch suppliers and create a massive-but-necessary logistical headache. From all indications, Apple is pushing many orders to June simply because it expects to get up to speed by then. That won't be much consolation if you're staring at a bare arm for the next month or more, but you'll at least know why you're missing out.

If this were the case then why did the change June delivery to end of May, early June? They started sending those emails out when some people in the first wave were still waiting.. But it does seem like we've moved to the second wave..

Because Apple has known about this since February, so they gave worse-case scenario shipping estimates. Shipping times are improving because it turned out not to be the worst case after all.

Gah! UPS has found a new (to me) way to fail:

01:58 Arrival Scan (at my UPS hub, normal message)
06:26 Destination scan (wait! What? This one is supposed to say "Out for Delivery"...)
07:54 Oops, we've sent your package to the hub 60 miles away. Maybe we'll deliver it tomorrow.

Not yet as bad as the time they used two people to deliver an empty box instead of an iPhone 5, but I'll see what tomorrow brings.

38mm SGS, conf. xx:04:40, 4/24-5/8 batch, charged yesterday, bumbled today.

xx:05:17 here, and have not seen any movement, so I think any 06s are very rare, or they have another config than SG.

right. someone just commented that their co-worker ordered SG 42mm 01:xx:xx+ and received it already. LOL

i have a great idea! how about everyone updates their signature with your order info (model, order confirmation time, etc.). just an idea.

On the business we call thems a troll ;)

exactly. they need to brush up on their trolling abilities.

*and be careful with your grammar on this forum. someone got all moody with me the other day for typing "ur" instead of "you're". LOL

Agreed. The bands seem like a no brainer. They could have been stock piling those for months now. I understand why they waited to manufacture watches and see what the demand was, but the bands are kind of a miss.

Well, the upside to all of this is I once had to look at my password app so I could retrieve my very complex password for my chase card. I no longer need to do that as I have it memorized.

LOL Amen! I like the glass half full response here, I'm with ya! Made me memorize my CCD and Apple ID passwords.

I'm seriously NOT a troll. I'm being 100% honest here.
I know it sounds unlikely. I probably wouldn't believe it myself, had I not seen it first hand.
Despite you believing me, it's true. AND very disheartening to see daily.
Hence me asking if anyone else has seen something similar.

I'm not sure how that sounds even remotely tolling?

JIT doesn't mean you can't meet demand nor should it "leave stuff on a shelf". JIT means you anticipate the next period sales and then set your production plan to meet that. The fact you are ordering and waiting 4-6 weeks or longer, and yes because of 1 minute, means they completed a poor sales analysis. Personally I think they were nervous about the watch being a flop so hedged their bets and didn't produce a ton. Also, with the Taptic issue published today, you would be able to be better prepared to deal with such an issue if you had better control over supply chain management.

I've seen about 5 or so SG Sports get updates (charges, shipping, etc) so far. There are still 04s to get through so I wouldn't expect a flood of 06s yet.
