Eh I guess to each his own.
See I find the slate, not breathtaking, but certainly enigmatic.
Space Gray is a little boring. I still prefer Slate over Space Gray by a long shot.

ive had a white iphone since the 4...i was done with white and i was hoping for the slate..then they announced space grey instead...that being said i still was done with white.
i landed at 315pm on launch day went right to the apple store 5 mins away from the airport...15-20 people in line out with the space grey in about 30min.
when i first got home with it i was not crazy about it even thought of returning it the next day..but it grew on me...by the end of the day saturday i decided i wanted to keep it...i think it really looks good...apples site does it no justice. Dont think ill ever get another white iPhone...i think the space grey looks way better than the slate and glad i kept it..

I got my space grey on Thursday from the first night ordering at Apple.com

I too greatly prefer black & slate. But I do believe Apple was smart to avoid it since they delivered so many with cosmetic defects. The gray is a decent second choice.
This. I will be getting the space grey but do wish that slate was still on option.
I disagree with the women comments. I own a silver iPhone 5. I never wanted one because I thought it was too feminine and I am female but not overly feminine myself. I had the black iPhone 4 and thought that I was just going to stick with black. Went to the silver iPhone 5. It's classy not feminine, in my opinion. There are men who have white iPhones. And no not just the gay ones lol. Either way iOS 7 looks better on white IMO and I will be sticking with silver for the 5s.

Nice, but since 90% of people use a cover anyway, the color doesn't matter too much. I've got a space gray myself and I love the back, but I'm still trying to figure out how to keep the back visible but protect it at the same time against scratches...
The slate from the iPhone 5 was much better. The Space Grey looks plain and boring to me. I'd opt for the silver or gold for the 5S.
It's the best of the three new colours (gold is horribly tacky and silver looks cheap) but I do prefer last years black/slate. Very smart looking colour that...
I had white 4S and 5. Went with silver 5S. Now I want slate gray to change things up. The slate gray looks much better in person. I bought my 5S via apple.com. The easiest way to do exchange is go into the Apple store and hope they have stock. I have 30 days to exchange. Wish me luck.

Originally ordered silver/white from Apple but got fed up of waiting so ordered from carrier who could next-day a space grey one ...
Having had it for a few days now and given the oportunity which i had yesterday to switch to silver i'm not going to.
