The Apple Store guy told me the stainless steel bands would corrode the aluminium watch, and the blue leather band with space grey would look bad, as would the white sports band. Don't know if I believe him though.

Don't let an Apple Store employee decide what looks good. I have ordered a white sports band and a Milanese loop to go with my Space Grey. I also went to the store and tried it on and swapped a band to see it in person and love the look.

I like that. My wife and I both got 42mm Sports. Black for me, White for her, and an order of blue straps. So we can each switch out between white, blue, and black now. Even both wear the same color if we want since it comes with two of each color. Cannot wait!

We both looked at the 38mm but it was harder to use....42 was not as big as I thought either so the decision was easy. 42!

Doesn't look good IMO. But to each his own.

I would note that the online renders appear to be lighter than the space grey actually is

I tried on the 42mm SG Sport and the 42mm SS. I liked both but I was pleasantly surprised at the Sport model. I think the SG Sport with the Black Leather Loop looks good.

Same here. Hers is silver+white, mine is SG+black, both 42mm Sport. She digs on a slightly oversized watch, and was like me with favoring the slightly improved battery and display size. So now with matching 42mm watches we can do all sorts of mix ~n~ match. Also excited about the 3rd party offerings I'm sure will flood the market over the next several months.

I'm kind of curious if case manufactures get into this market (I'm assuming _yes_), like Moshi, Elago, Element, etc. I can imagine some kind of crazy industrial designs coming out of Element (something like a cuff style where the watch body locks into a frame)

I really hope hers at least makes it here very early June (or of course sooner), it's a birthday present.

Doesn't look good IMO.

Well, no accounting for taste on MR :D

Thanks D.T. I've been reading this entire thread, waiting for someone to post that combo. I like the concept of Space Gray because I don't like flashy jewelry on my wrist (My fiancé knows I won't wear a bright, shiny wedding band). my main watch is a $30 Timex Expedition with velcro strap (for easy adjusting and on/off). I've thought all the colorful banks on mixyourwatch look good with the black band, but I've been waiting to hear someone else. I wish the green were more green and less yellow, but it looks good. With SG combos, it's not about them blending, rather it is about the contrast. I'm also curious about the brown and tan leather loops (to be adjustable like my Timex). I'm expecting to get a 42mm, but I don't like showy, but things. I realize that the case of the 42mm is the same size as my Timex, but I'll enter my try-on appointment considering both but leaning towards 42mm.

I really like the look of the SG watch with the blue leather loop. I just didn't care for the blue leather loop much.

I was unfortunately unable to find the original source of where this photo was from, although I like the idea of this. Too bad there's a filter on it.

I'm thinking this or, possibly more likely, the brown leather loop. Hopefully my Apple Store allows swapping!

Malinese Goodness

I really think I can rock a Space Grey Sport with the Malinese band. I know some people are scared of the look but I think it looks solid. The malinese band looks and feels so incredible.

My Apple Store would not let me try the Malinese on the Sport. They actually wouldn't swap any bands.

I used photoshop to get a better idea of what to expect. I found two decent resolution pics and merged them. This should give you an idea of what to expect.

Are people who spent £350 on the watch really going to spend another £130 on the (insanely overpriced) leather strap!?

Seriously, just be patient and I guarantee some really good quality 3rd party equivalents will start to hit the market for half the price.

That's pretty much the conclusion I came to at my try-on appointment as well. I preordered that band when I got home (May delivery though, unlike the 4/24-5/8 estimate for my SG Sport; maybe it'll be closer to the beginning of the month at least?)

and with the blue leather loop

This actually looks really nice. I think I may have to pick up a blue leather loop to go with my SG (even though after trying it on it doesn't seem worth $149 to me at all). This would allow you to dress the watch up or down and use the black sport band for physical activity/working out.

If the milanese loop is $149, you would think the leather band would be like $99?

I have a feeling that most things will ship sooner than estimated currently (under promise, over deliver) - the store employee said the said thing (though he knows as much as we do, honestly).
