Does the sport come with a usb wall adapter? There is no way that box holds one

From the Apple Store all sport models

What’s in the box
  • Apple Watch
  • Magnetic charging cable
  • USB power adapter
  • Two bands
  • Quick start guide

There will be a USB charger

You are absolutely correct. That's very cheap looking packaging compared to the high quality stylish packaging Apple once provided.

But their is a reason, now hyper focused on squeezing out every penny of profit along with being Apple centric as opposed to customer centric, it all makes sense.

From Ive:

“We didn’t want the packaging to be a sort of shorthand for value, where the box needs to be big and we have to include expensive materials. We’ve always liked the idea that if we are heavy in our thinking, we can be much lighter in the implementation. So there’s huge virtue, I think, in keeping the packaging small: at least, it is the right choice environmentally, it’s easier to move things around and you don’t end up with your wardrobes full of large watch boxes that you don’t use.”

There's a copout for you. Frankly, I could care less about the box, but if their position was truly one of less is more especially for the environment, there wouldn't be 3 different boxes based on price point. Sounds like Apple and Ive came up with some BS PR to feed to the masses who aren't going to be getting a spiffy box that has a built in charger.

The Sport watches will ship in left over McDonalds French Fry boxes from a Six Flags parking lot, hand picked by Tim Cook. "We wanted people to realize the inner beauty of themselves and give our customers a box that not only has color, but a stylish design millions of Americans see on a daily basis; but we still wanted to keep it environmentally friendly, and recycling the old boxes us allows us to do that while maintaining a beautiful design." - Tim Cook.

How are you going to fit a 2m long charging cable and charger in that box?

That box looks thicker than it appears to be on first glance.

It's also possible they redesigned the charger, I don't see any issues with the cable fitting.

No problem, take $100 off the SS for the crap packaging ;)

Funny thing is, I am sure Ive has kept the impressive boxes that came with his watches.

While SS packaging I find cheap, the edition version is embarrassing for the price

I think they were designed to be useful. I thought they were lousy until I realized they are made to let the watch charge inside the box. It is a bit of utility and attractive design combined. I mean, nicer watches come in boxes with complicated methods of opening and plush pillowy interiors, but that would not work if you intended to charge it in the box.

They came up with a reasonable compromise, imho.

3rd party stands I have seen , put the box to shame. And some of these are very good value.

Eh, I'm chucking it in a drawer never to be looked at again so, whatever. At least it looks like it won't take up too much real estate in my armoire.

It's a box. How does it matter in the slightest? I'll never understand.

Some comments make me scratch my head. This company is all about design and they take pride in their boxes. They aren't covered in tape and made from flimsy cardboard, or packed with bubble wrap.

Seeing a box for a new Apple product is part of the fun since most of us keep our boxes. Does it matter? No, none of this really matters. But it isn't hard to understand why an Apple fan would care about packaging.

Well if the Apple Store website is any indication, the wall charger is the same as the one with the iPhone. No, there'd have to more to that box.

Especially if go back a few years and opening a new Apple product was an adventure. It was so well thought out and detailed it was an experience unto itself.

By the way, I'm happy to be wrong on the thinking that the packaging shown in the photo from Apple's website is the Sport box. The reason I thought this was because some reviewer mentioned that the Sport comes in "a long oval" and we have not seen the packaging in the shot used for anything else yet. It could've been a prototype - I was just trying to put 2 and 2 together. We'll find out in a few days.

In any event, I find it strange that we have not seen the Sport packaging leaked or mentioned much at all.

I'm pretty sure the long box housing the watch will be inside of another box that contains the charging block, the cable, and all the papers and guides just like the standard apple watch box.

Yeah, I think this is real too. When the first images of the Apple Watch boxes were leaked, people complained it looked too cheap, but that turned out to be real. Comparing the CNET unboxing to the images posted, there are a lot of similarities, particularly the materials used and the band details.

The two images for reference since he removed it from his post:

From another Thread. Looks like Apple Watch Sport Box will be different

Is that the cheapest make/looking box that ANY $1000 watch has ever been sold to the public in?

I've bought watches in the past with nicer packaging that cost under $100

It's certainly not the type of beautiful presentation box one would consider your loved one being impressed with as it was opened, and a nice keepsake.

I guess I could almost accept this for the sport, it's actually too cheap for that tbh, but for the normal watch, its embarrassing, and must be all of $1 worth :(

Certainly now what I would of thought given the "Fashion/Style" front they wish to portray, and nothing like a normal quality proper watch box.

I agree. It's an absolutely hideous box. A great thing about purchasing a watch is the stunning, well crafted box you get with it. What the hell am i supposed to do with that? They might as well have just wrapped it in bubble wrap and masking tape. ****ing hideous.
