2 bands, 1 fastener. That's the key issue here.

The chat seems to say something like "2 complete bracelets" and "both parts different".

I don't read French, so maybe "complets" really means "giraffe" and "différentes" means "rutabaga". Or something like that.;)

Why would they have two separate fasteners though?

Right, seems silly to have two of the exact same pieces in there.

Example:
2 x 42mm fastener
1 x S/M band
1 x M/L band

Doesn't make sense UNLESS they specifically want to encourage trading off your extra band.

The sizing guide states a band of 130mm with the 38mm Apple Watch! Who has a wrist that small? Are Apple expecting dogs to wear these?!?

Not sure you understand how big 130mm is..... my wife will wear that one easily.

Yes that was confirmed by the post of apples page saying so on the first page of this thread.

There is no 'extra' band to trade. There's only half a band. And it's unlikely that anyone would want to end up with two different colours on the same band...although possible for contrast I guess.

More likely is that someone might want to trade the smaller one for a spare large band and vice versa

No he said 2 entire band.

Is anybody here truly foolish enough to believe this??

I'm getting the black rubber band & hoping that someone getting a silver sport, where that isn't an option will want it & help me fund my Milanese.

If we have 2 bottom band, we can exchange 1 and have an 2 colors band, what do you think?

I actually just thought that! I used to have a Nixon Timeteller P, it was my favorite watch, but it broke. It had one black strap and one white strap, so that would be cool to have on my Apple watch

Man I wish we had a real definitve answer about the sport band issue here. I am planning to get a silver sport with white band and an extra black sport band for myself, and a silver sport with red band for my girlfriend. I was planning on getting her the 38mm version but then got to thinking that if I got her the 42mm like mine we would each have three bands to use. I'll be using the large size and she the small. However if these watches just come with one pin piece this won't work out. Hopefully we will have a 100% certain answer before the pre orders go live.

the sport band when bought separately, is $49. I can't see any way that Apple would include full bands in the box.

Think of the cheapest watch $349. If there are two bands worth $49 each in the box, that would make the watch itself only $250....not going to happen

That's the retail price, the actual manufacturing cost of these things will be on the order of dollars a piece. Apple always has a very high margin on accessories. That being said I don't expect two full bands in the box if the fastener halves are identical, it makes no sense for Apple who'd want to tightly control margins.

$49 is the retail price not the actual manufacturing cost. I suspect the margins are quite high on the bands and I doubt including a second sport band would make that big of a difference.

Rubber bands cost next to nothing to make, which is why I wouldn't be at all surprised if they actually include 2 full bands. However, they'd want to prevent mass trading/ebaying so it's more likely they'd include a one size fits all fastener.

Sports comes with two bands

Just called up my local Apple Store [which I think was a callcentre in Ireland], and it turns out he said that the Sport Apple Watch (and presumably others with the plastic bands) actually comes with two bands... I can't remember exactly what the sizes are, but the 130-200mm on the 38" model has two that are split roughly half way... This is presumably because otherwise you might have a large piece hanging off the end.

Correct me if I'm wrong but there is zero evidence for this claim. It's pure pessimistic speculation.

It's a load of nonsense. If you had 3 pieces, the watch would be off centre for people that used one of the straps.

It's quite clear on the Apple page that is comes with "two bands". The only exception is the gold with the sport band, which comes with one - probably due to the cost of the gold button.

If the gold only comes with one strap that proves the SS and Sports come with two complete straps. Only one half of the strap has gold on it. So they could give you three parts just as for the non-gold.

That's not what is meant be 3 pieces. The speculation is that there is one "buckle" piece that has the button part. And then the bottom piece with the holes comes in both s/m and m/l.

It doesn't look removable to me - if it was removable it'd be liable to falling out.

From my understanding it comes with two complete bands. You get the watch plus 4 strap pieces. The s/m is 2 pieces and the m/l is 2 pieces. You use the 2 that fit you.

If you were to buy the band itself it looks like you get 2 complete bands as well.
What's in the Box?
Two bands: one Small–Medium band, one Medium–Large band
