I refuse to trade in my 6 Plus for this but seeing as they are saying "Any working smartphone" i'm going to purchase a no contract prepaid phone from best buy for $15 and trade it in. I looked on the buyback program and it is currently worth $3 from sprint for trade in so i'm going this route.

UPDATE: Sprint told me they will accept the $15 prepaid smartphone and she pointed out that it was "4.5 inches" which qualified it. Its the Verizon Wireless Prepaid LG Optimus Exceed 2 LG-VS450PP and its available with no contract at best buy for $15.

4.5" ?!? If that's the criteria then that excludes the iPhone 5s even, which I'm sure they will accept. Sounds like some BS to me but I'm glad you found something that works for you.

Are you having Sprint payoff ETF or remaining phone payments on another carrier? If so, it's my understanding that the phone traded in MUST be the last active phone on your old carrier account. A $15 smartphone would not have 1. and ETF 2. any payments to be made to old carrier.

I don't want to turn in my verizon iphone 6 to take this deal, but because I have an ETF, I'm not sure I have a choice.

Was in the same boat as you. I took advantage of the Cut Your Rate In Half deal at the same time as iPhone Forever and I had to turn in my devices so that Sprint would pay off my Edge balances with Verizon.

Where does it say that in order to upgrade yearly you have to pay an additional $10/month? That's the first I've hear of that if true.

It actually saves more than $4 - $7 a month when you consider the annual upgrades with iPhone Forever, which Sprint normally charges an additional $10 per month on top of the lease price for that option. Apples to apples.

The real win comes in when you trade in a gem like the Replenish as someone mentioned earlier. It technically meets all the requirements for a working smartphone to trade in, but isn't worth the recycled plastic its made from.
This is where I saw the $10/month comment.

I went through chat so I could have a transcript. When I asked about that particular model I was put on hold for 15min and when she came back she said it doesn't qualify. Stated "Verizon" and "Prepaid" as the reasons. I asked if theres a list and she said no.

Maybe its because I'm an existing sprint customer? Do they need the traded in phone to be activated?

I think it just has to be in good working condition and was on Sprint network at one point.
I also went through chat for an old phone I had laying around and kept the transcript.

I'm trading in my Verizon prepaid Moto G and they said it would work. Come to think of it, I didn't mention that it's a prepaid phone though.

But then again, someone in this thread said that a Straight Talk LG Sunrise works so prepaid shouldn't be an issue.

to my understanding the criteria is "any working smartphone" not the last active phone. I am with sprint so they are willing letting existing customers take advantage of the new promotion even though i am one year into a two year contract. Sounds like you have a tougher issue since you are leaving a carrier for sprint.

Be careful anyone who switches carriers by making sure you have to trade in your verizon phone versus a cheap phone. Call sprint to make sure you cant trade in a 4 year old phone you have laying around for anyone else looking to switch. They tried to say they wanted my 6 plus but its not happening ill give them a cheap new smartphone from best buy.

Blazin4QB: i would like to trade in me & my girlfriends LG-VS450PP for her newly added line to be eligible
Amber(Sprint): Please be advised that any smartphone is eligible for this plan as long as it is a good working condition.
Blazin4QB: one last question does it matter if the phone is Prepaid? also its a Verizon phone? i just want to make sure. thank you for your time.
Amber(Sprint): You don't have to worry it wouldn't matter even if your phone is Prepaid and it's a Verizon phone, it would qualify.

So i will be buying the two $15 phones from Best Buy and trade them in to take advantage of the one year savings since i will upgrade annually. I will also then send in my two phones using Sprints Buyback Program for $465 in account credit.

So I read a news article somewhere that said the smart phone had to have at least an $80 value. Any of you heard anything along those lines?

It only makes sense, because you have to pay off your Verizon lease/ETF. Sprint won't give you the money for that if you don't give them the device that has to be paid off.

My shipping status changed to this earlier today. That's a pretty good size gap.

Orders placed after 5PM CT on 9/18 will begin shipping between 9/28-10/2. Keep an eye out for a shipping email with your tracking information. We appreciate your patience.

I dont expect mine to change until I get my phone, at least that is about how it was last year.

He makes it seem like if you jump on this promo deal, you'll be locked into that price for every iPhone release. I wonder if that will truly be the case.

The way he is painting it can lead to that confusion but i don't expect it to be that way. You get the discounted rate of $15 a month because you have an old phone that you own to turn in, he does say that. Logically if you take that further out once you upgrade to the next version you no longer have a phone that you own to turn in. So no more discount.

I may be holding on to my iPhone Forever 6s for longer than the one year just to keep the discount for a while. Once any flaws are worked out in the 7 and I'm feeling the itch, nice to know I'll be able to walk in and get the new one.

Well I TRIED to pre-order a Rose Gold 64GB 6s today but the Sprint website wasn't working well for me. Once I selected a new plan and entered my credit card info it wouldn't let me submit it (it had a red icon to the right with a exclamation point). Tried again to order but after entering my info for the credit check the menus were all empty. After the 3rd time Sprint locked out the credit check (too many times in one sitting I guess). Anyways, I'll try again tomorrow.

Anybody else having issues? I apologize if this has already been mentioned previously.

I preordered online on 9/12 but never got an order number (confirmation email said it was coming). I called Sprint like 3 times all week and they assured me that I was okay.

Well the authorization dropped off my account yesterday so I called back and it turns out I had no order. They promised I'd get my phone launch day but I'm not holding my breath. I did get the activation and shipping charges waived so it wasn't all bad.

PS: My initial order was buying the phone outright and saving my upgrade for next year but I've since learned that Sprint won't be doing subsidies after this year (so I did the EasyPay). Maybe this fiasco was all for the best lol
