unless you forsee yourself leaving Sprint and if 1gb is fine, then go on contract. Also remember that you only pay tax on $400 whereas buying the phone outright is tax on $850

I was in the same boat and decided to go on contract bc here was my breakdown

Contract:
64gb phone = $323 after tax
Everything 450 Data - ~$78 (after fees and 18% discount) x 24months = 1872
Upgrade Fee = $36
Total = $2231

Full Purchase
64gb phone = $800 after tax
Unlimited Plan - ~$65 (after fees and 18% discount) x 24 months = 1560
Total = $2360

I'll save roughly $130 by going the contract route
OK, thanks for the feedback. It sounds like the two year contract is still a viable option. (I have seen some other threads talking about variations on AT&T phones/phones being locked, so I didn't know if that would affect Sprint users.)

Havok, I thought the $36 was an activation fee. Is that waived if you do the full purchase?

Ive seen it called upgrade and activation fee. In any case it seems to only be there if you have a contract. I dont think leasing or buying the phone outright have it, at least not when I put my info in to compare my options

A lot of times you can call and they'll waive it for you.

do I call when I get the phone in? What would i even say? I talked to someone via their chat on Saturday and they said they cant waive that fee

I simply call customer care and they waive it. i remind them how long I have been a customer and that I've never had to pay a fee. Been with them for about 8 years though (my family all has Sprint). Sometimes it depends on who you get too.

Thanks. Ive been with Sprint forever. I got my first phone in 2001 (under my dad's plan) and have been on my own since ~2006

It's gotta be who you get. I tried the "I've been with you for 10 years" when I got the 4S in 2011 on contract, asking several reps, and they wouldn't budge.

I preordered in store and was I was the first to preorder in my local store. My phone will be a direct ship to store and they'll call me to pick up. Same process as last year. Very smooth and I had my phone on release day.

I ordered the space gray 64gb 6s plus.

I ordered mine at the Washington Ave location and was the first person. They said it will be there by the 25th.

Yeah, depends who you get. You're more likely to get it waived if you've been with them longer and are good at complaining. :)

Anyone who ordered a 6s+ from sprint online think we will get it before 4 weeks.i hope they are just being careful saying that

I hope so, when I initially checked the site that night the +s for the rose gold and silver 128s were the only ones at 4weeks. I didn't order either of those configurations/colors. The SG+s128 was still at the 25th.

Forgive me if this has already been covered. I pre ordered my iPhone 6s plus at one of my local sprint stores w\store pick up. I've looked at my account on sprint's web site and it just shows upgrade pending. Is there any way to find out when it will arrive at the store?

At my store they said they would call in order of the pre orders. Otherwise, to just show and see if they had any extra. That's why I chose online, at least I knew I'd get what I wanted eventually. They also said they likely wouldn't every configuration day one, regardless of pre order. If I recall right they also stopped holding your phone after 24 or 48 hours after calling you.

With the entire process being done online without any human interaction then Activation Fees really should be eliminated.

It just doesn't make sense to penalize a customer for choosing to remain a customer.

Last year mine said it would be a few weeks and arrived on launch. So a better way for the thread to figure out where you are in line is by order number

Hello All,

I have been researching Sprints current offer of iPhone Forever plan and a few things stuck out to me. First off when you trade in the smartphone you have now to qualify for the monthly discount you will receive no credit for it. The iPhone Forever plan with Trade In saves you between $4 - $7 per month on the price of the phone depending on phone choice. My calculations shows that the offer will only save you $84 per year or $168 over two years.

Currently Sprint is offering me $350 on their buyback program for my iPhone 6 Plus and it will apply as an account credit i would receive within three billing cycles. So when i subtracted the $168 i would saved over two years with a trade in from the $350 account credit i end up saving an additional $182 over the same time period by applying the credit to my monthly bills. So i see it as i either save within a three month period with the $350 account credit or trade in my phone today for $168 after two years.

Hopefully this information is helpful to someone else looking to use this new Sprint plan

It actually saves more than $4 - $7 a month when you consider the annual upgrades with iPhone Forever, which Sprint normally charges an additional $10 per month on top of the lease price for that option. Apples to apples.

The real win comes in when you trade in a gem like the Replenish as someone mentioned earlier. It technically meets all the requirements for a working smartphone to trade in, but isn't worth the recycled plastic its made from.

Exactly.

I was mostly weighing the cost of a high valuable trade in like my iphone 6 plus for the promotion and receiving only the monthly discount vs using Sprints buyback program credit to offset the additional cost of the phone for one year

Where can we find a list of accepted "smartphones"?

I was looking for one (a list) and even called them. No luck, I just told the rep the name of the phone and gave her the model number. A few minutes later she said it qualified. I ask about some other phones and she basically said ANY smartphone that was in good working condition. Now I'm more concerned about what "good working condition" is. It's easier to technically prove that a phone is a smartphone or not a smartphone, but good working condition is more subjective.

I refuse to trade in my 6 Plus for this but seeing as they are saying "Any working smartphone" i'm going to purchase a no contract prepaid phone from best buy for $15 and trade it in. I looked on the buyback program and it is currently worth $3 from sprint for trade in so i'm going this route.

UPDATE: Sprint told me they will accept the $15 prepaid smartphone and she pointed out that it was "4.5 inches" which qualified it. Its the Verizon Wireless Prepaid LG Optimus Exceed 2 LG-VS450PP and its available with no contract at best buy for $15.
