If your gonna do a CDMA iPhone, might as well do it for both carriers seeing as no one else needs it.

Exactly! Makes perfect sense! Why not sell more phones? I think this is great. I want Apple so sell as many iPhones as possible!

2010 iPhone HD is the year! :D

Agreed, and many of those posters mentioning that are really very blind to what VZW and AT&T are saying about LTE. That 4G network just like Sprint's 4G network will be data only for the first few years, and users will have to rely on the previous tech to make voice calls . . . and to fall back on when 4G isn't available.
Sprint's 4G network is NOT just data only. They've been saying for quite some time now that users will be able to do talk+data over 4G. That was my big point when Verizon made their announcement about 'possibly' being able to do it 'in 2011'. Who cares? Sprint and AT&T can do it NOW.

The other thing I laugh at is people's blind hatred towards Sprint. "When I had them (years ago), they sucked!" That quote reads that the people saying that do not currently use Sprint. Look in this thread and many others, what Sprint user is complaining about the network? Very few; most are actually praising Sprint. Why wouldn't we? Fast as **** data network combined with cheap plans = ultimate carrier. Sprint is definitely the most underrated carrier right now. Over that last year or so, that has slowly been changing as more people finally get a clue and realize they've been following the blind.

I was planning on moving up to the Evo 4G in June, but no decision will be made until June 7th. :) The logical side of me says go with the Evo either way since it is the best spec'd phone on the market. The Apple fanboi side of me screams for the iPhone though even though it will already be long out spec'd before it comes out. Job's keynote will help me decide one way or the other.

Incorrect. The deal was with Cingular, NOT AT&T. AT&T purchased Cingular after that. Also, T-Mobile was and is the one with the best reported customer service, NOT AT&T.

And, having been with both, I can whole-heartedly agree. I really dig T-Mobile's customer service. Their 3G is a weak in my area, but as long as my phone can stream Pandora, I'm satisfied.

Imagine the Verizon one with a fat Verizon check mark on the front and a Red theme haha.
Maybe that's why the new iPhone has the unsightly raised glass. It's where you put the carrier logo. ;)

It's good that Sprint works for you. However, a friend recently switched from Verizon to Sprint and she is hating it. She doesn't use their data plan, so I can't comment on that. When it comes to voice and texts, she complains that her voicemail messages are delayed by up to three days; same goes for her texts.
The hatred for Sprint isn't blind. There is a legitimate reason behind it. It's why I'd never go to Sprint, despite the prices they have for voice and data.

I haven't heard those delays ever described as endemic to Sprint, that happens with all carriers and it's usually an issue only in one area. Having said that it would make sense for you to not switch to Sprint if it's like that in your area. For the vast majority of other people Sprint is consistently faster, more reliable, and cheaper than Verizon and AT&T. I can't speak for T-Mobile, because I don't know their plans well, but my mom loves them and she's been a cell phone fanatic since the mid to late 90s.

I would worry that her phone is having hardware issues then... or maybe she lives in a dead spot because in the 7 years I have been on sprint that has never happened to me.

Ive been happily enjoying my palm pre on sprint for about a year now and I love it, looked at the EVO as a possible upgrade this summer but im really just not into android... Im also not big on iPhone OS but at least it is solid, stable, and freakin loaded with apps... Depending on what ol' Jobs has to show off come June 7th I could be willing to switch to a new iPhone... if and only if it comes to sprint... otherwise I might just wait to see what HPalm comes out with over the next year...

Hmmm anyone want to speculate as to whether or not a "Sprint iPhone" would be available to customers with an old SERO account like myself? I would guess not, seeing as how they did not allow it with the Palm Pre. An iPhone for $35/mo with unlimited data/text and 500 minutes would be epic. I won't get my hopes up though...stuck with my WinMo PPC for now.

Not that I am saying it is going to happen, but can you imagine if Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint all got the iPhone.....

Some how though I am wondering if Verizon is happy with dealing with the Droid and like from google and can care less about Apple now.

This is sketchy, but if there is a Verizon iPhone, it can be activated on Sprint, couldn't it? since they both have CDMA networks? (with hacks of course, similar to putting an iPhone on T-Mobile).

I think that $325 ETF is staring us in the face though.

Technically yes. But Verizon and Sprint don't play nice so they won't activate an ESN that didn't originate in their systems.

Except for the 309 other CDMA carriers around the world.

With over 520 million subscribers, many or most on EVDO Rev A. Up until a few years ago, I believe there were actually more CDMA 3G subscribers in the world than GSM 3G users.

The trouble is, a lot of the carriers are slightly incompatible and would require specialized code.

Still, with 280+ million CDMA subscribers in the Far East alone, there are definitely markets to explore.

Am I reading too much into this?

Am I reading too much into this?

Yes. Means nothing. If I were Sprint, I'd be trying to keep you on the hook even if I knew we weren't gettin the iPhone.

Not saying that's whats happening here, but you can't read anything into that conversation.

I wasn't trying to leave sprint I only asked one question to the Rep.

I realize that, but I would say they would answer this way to ANYBODY that asked. It's best to give a blanket answer like that one.

I gotcha but I just found the rep sure took a lot of time and effort. I work in customer service call center and I definitely would have just answered no.:D:D:D:D

Sprint Iphone this Year

I think the new $9.99 on the Evo is a good example of what we'd see if the iPhone comes to Sprint. The wording for the service fee is not that you're paying for 4G service but that the device 'consumes a higher quantity of data'. I'm sure they'll use this wording should the iPhone come to them and was probably one of the reasons for the wording they used.

Sprint to ALSO get iphone?

Wait, also? Did I miss an announcement? I've heard a lot of Verizon rumors but nothing close to definitive, that I can tell. Did I miss something?

She needed time to find the right paragraph to cut and paste into the reply box.
