May the lowest price win my buck:)

You are probably not going to see much price difference. However, you will see difference in terms of the bonuses they will pack.

This has been the norm in many other countries where multiple carriers already own the rights to the iPhone. They have the same price points, but some may contain a bit more bonuses.

The reason is simply so that it doesn't cheapen the iPhone brand. To keep it a product of high value.

I just hope it comes to another carrier and that carrier offers free tethering or cheaper data. Competition is good.

Sent from my iPhone.

I cannot stand AT&T.

I actually am in the process of working on breaking contract and paying the reduced ETF so I can go on sprint to get the EVO 4G. BUT I don't like how bulky and plasticky designed that phone is along with the number of design flaws...but still very tempted.

I don't think Android is polished enough as the iPhone and so it is really the iPhone that has kept me with AT&T.

If the iPhone was to be sold on Sprint and the suprise kicker this year is that apple releases a sprint iPhone 4G model, I will not hesistate to go to sprint. AT&T is terrible; bang for the buck wise and performance wise.

Oh please no... Sprint IMO is not worthy for the iPhone, not to mention there 4G network is not that much better than the current 3G networks. As this is only a rumor, I doubt that this is gonna happen.

you do realize Sprints 4G network was rolled out earlier last year ATT 's 3G and verizons have been out for a good 3-4 years.

Oh please, I hope so. The more competition, the better. I especially hope it's true if the iPhone is also going to Verizon. I can just imagine that the iPhone on Verizon will have a premium mark-up on it's plan.

While all eyes have been on the possibility of a Verizon release of an iPhone this year, we've also been hearing whispers that Apple's phone may also be spreading to Sprint as well.

The problem is we hear whispers of a lot of things all the time, so it can be hard to substantiate these unconfirmed rumors. For what it's worth, jkontherun first posted about the possibility in early May. James Kendrick dismissed the possibility even while acknowledging that the source had been reliable in the past:Since this time, we had heard similar rumblings from a Sprint-connected source that Sprint was going to be readying for the iPhone later this year. Likely in the September timeframe -- placing it in the same timeframe as Verizon rumors.

Finally, a TechUpdate post claims that a BestBuy employee who "confirms" that Sprint will indeed be one of the new iPhone's carriers. Unfortunately, this is the sketchiest of sources. Best Buy employees tend not to be privy to much advanced Apple-related information, and, if it were true, I suspect we'd be hearing it from multiple sources.

While all the attention has been on Verizon, itself, Apple would stand to gain the most by expanding to multiple U.S. carriers as its exclusivity contract with AT&T expires. One of the reasons for Android's growing success has been attributed to broad availability across multiple carriers.

So does this mean Announce in June, Deliver in September?

Cause Apple had a lot of demands, so they had to leverage iPhone exclusivity at the time. Stuff like not having a carrier logo on the phone itself, only carrier determined apps, carrier-controlled app distribution, visual voice mail changes, etc...

They offered it to Verizon, but Verizon refused.

arn is 100% correct.

What you'll see at WWDC concerning the iPhone...

1. New iPhone (4th Gen)
2. iPhone OS 4.0
3. Possible some new pricing models

That's it. iPhone to remain exclusive on AT&T until next generation LTE services become prevalent on all carriers. It ain't comin' to any of the others for a long while.

iPhone on WiMAX then? :)

No, not at all. The possibility of the iPhone going to Sprint is probably why they said they're not wed to WiMAX and could possibly go to LTE.

I see all four carriers going LTE in the near future and the iPhone being on them all. This will only mean good things.

Actually with every provider its based on location. Here in Florida Sprint can go punch for punch with AT&T and is actually better than VZ. Not to mention I can get way more for less money with Sprint. If the new iPhone comes out on Sprint its a no brainer for me, considering i was ready to leave AT&T for the Evo anyway.

Ah, makes sense. I guess it could matter depending on how long Sprint stays with WiMAX before switching to LTE.

The other variable is the EVO. How long is Sprint putting that forward as their flagship phone? Only a month or so? Doubtful.

No brainer

This is a no brainer. The iPhone must be available on many carriers to compete. The AT&T agreement is running out, who knows when for sure. I believe that that it will be announced at WWDC that the iPhone will work with all other carriers in the near future. It will wither on just AT&T if that continues for much longer, and the profit potential with multiple carriers is obvious. Buy the stock on pullbacks.

So my Predictions for WWDC

Overview of iPhone OS 4.0
iPhone 4thgen or HD whate ever they call it

New features for iPhone OS thats on 4th gen only probally
comes in 8 16 32 64 available on At&T in july

Oh one more thing we want to open the Market on the iPhone so coming this fall the iPhone also goes live to Sprint Verizon and T-Mobile.

If that's all Apple has up its sleeve, well good luck. Android might not be pretty, but it sure is muscling its way past the iPhone. For sure, none of these "droid" phones are iPhone killers, but they can smoother the iPhone in large numbers. Remember, the US is the biggest market for the iPhone and is the place where a new release will have a significant impact. Apple would be shooting themselves in the foot to not take advantage of it. Verizon and Sprint alone have ~135 million customers between them. If these subscribers would have switched to AT&T, they would have already done so. Now, a good chunk of them would jump for iPhone if it were released for the CDMA networks. LTE doesn't mean crap, an LTE iPhone on Verizon would still absolutely need CDMA as backup where LTE is unavailable.

I would like to see the iPhone on all major carriers, yes, but I think I'd rather have different models. Yeah, the "competition" would be nice, but I feel like all would-be iPhone owner's would go to one carrier, whichever was the cheapest. I think it'd cause more problems, and the device would become like the razr. If each carrier had a different model, there'd be more choice for the consumers and it technically wouldn't be one single device dominating the market.

Apple will stick with world standards. Right now that is GSM. Until LTE rolls out in the U.S. and the rest of the globe, that's where they will stay.

That doesn't make sense. Besides, however much it costs, it'll probably be profitable considering the numbers of iPhones they'll sell.

I'd be way more exited about a sprint iPhone than a verizon one. Verizon is more expensive than even AT&T. Sprint plans are way better, and where I live service is top notch.

this is what i don't get why wouldn't apple just make a cdma iphone? I assume turning the phone into cdma would not be to tedious or costly. Then apple could at least double there amount of iphones sold and when a cdma+lte+gsm hybrid chip created they can go back to just 1 regular iphone.

By the time the iphone is on Verizon and/or sprint and/or t-mobile, android handsets will dwarf iphones by the numbers.

Again, even when LTE is out, a Verizon iPhone would still need to support CDMA for fallback where LTE is unavailable. I'd imagine Apple would want to deal with this issue sooner rather than later and work out all the kinks by the time LTE hits the market.
