Why can't Apple just make an iPhone for all four carriers? They'll for sure make x4 of what there making right now. I just want one for T-Mobile with 3G basebands. I don't think its time to release a 4G iPhone because it's still in its early stages and not most states have that available yet. I really enjoy T-Mobile's cheap service and I'm not planning on switching to AT&T just for the iPhone. But if an iPhone does come to T-Mobile, I'm for sure buying one.

Sprint charges around $20-30 less for a comparable unlimited plan. I wouldn't mind it at all if they got the new iPhone and kept their plans the same price. Let's see what they do.

I work for a Sprint store, and there haven't been any internal memos about the iPhone yet. Just a bunch of Evo stuff as per usual. Of course, I'm not important enough to be getting the super secret stuff. But regular sales drones and technicians for Sprint definitely haven't caught wind of any iPhone 4g stuff.

So unless any of the other people in this thread claiming they work for Sprint have some proof, then shaddup.

It would be pretty bomb if the Sprint did get the iPhone though. 69.99$ Everything Data Plan is perfect for me.... ^___^

You all are also being naive if you think other carriers will offer data plans for $10-$15 dollars. They will have to make changes to make sure they can handle the iPhone data demands, as well as maintaining their network.

Remember, AT&T was one of the best networks around back in 2007 when it acquired the iPhone. It was known to have the best coverage and customer service. The iPhone changed all of that for them. These other carriers will have growing pains as well.

Ehhh I have mixed feelings about iPhone going to other carriers. I'm worried that it would knock out all the competition at first and then eventually get out dated and lose its appeal. All great things come in a limited and exclusive form. Take super cars for example... If everyone could afford a Ferrari would it still be such a great sought after car?

As lame as it may sound, the iPhone for some people is just a little bit cooler because there's a large portion of people (Verizon, Sprint) that cannot have an iPhone. If you gave everyone a Ferrari for the price of a civic it would lose its appeal. On the other hand, ATT's bogged down network may improve if other carriers get the iPhone so that’s a plus for me because I'm mostly happy with ATT and do not plan on switching.

Now I'm not trying to say that an iPhone compares to a Ferrari by any means, but you get my point. I hope iPhone remains great and continues to improve for many years to come.

this is what i don't get why wouldn't apple just make a cdma iphone? I assume turning the phone into cdma would not be to tedious or costly. Then apple could at least double there amount of iphones sold and when a cdma+lte+gsm hybrid chip created they can go back to just 1 regular iphone.

Apple has no problem making a CDMA phone, but why bother when you are exclusive with AT&T? This June Apple will announce the end of the AT&T exclusive arrangement and announce a Verizon deal. Not only that, but Apple will have found a trick to allow the iPhone Verizon users to talk and get data at the same time. THIS is what will blow Android out of the water.

By the time the iphone is on Verizon and/or sprint and/or t-mobile, android handsets will dwarf iphones by the numbers.

It's not a numbers game to Apple, it's a profit game, and to have profit Apple needs to keep jumping ahead and driving the market. Everything Andriod has done was done AFTER the GS hit the market. It's no wonder the Android is making a lot of hay right now. Wait until this next generation of iPhones hit the market before you start pissing your pants.

As a Sprint customer for the past year (and former iPhone customer), I'd love to see Sprint get the iPhone. AT&T's service was horrible in uptown Manhattan (which AT&T admitted to), so it was an easy choice to go with Sprint, not to mention the savings with a family plan.

Hopefully the iPhone won't be released right away, as in mid to late June cuz I really want to give the EVO a chance. If the iPhone comes out with Sprint later in the year, I'll have some time to play around with the EVO, possibly get Froyo and then decide if I want to make the jump to the iPhone on Sprint.

Either, I really hope this rumor comes true. Apple will instantly reward benefits, although the thought of it becoming the next Razr will run through everyone's mind.

I've had sprint for quite some time now (around 4 years) and I am very happy with the service/price. My contract expires in October so I would love to get an iPhone at around that time. I haven't really been tempted to switch carriers just because of one (i)phone, although I would love another gadget =D

I had Sprint before and never had any problems I am not sure why there is such a big dislike for Sprint.

If you gave everyone a Ferrari for the price of a civic it would lose its appeal.

Your Analogy is wrong. It's not a "Ferrari for the price of a civic." It's like importing the Ferrari to places it was not available before. It doesn't cheapen the appeal, it broadens the market geographically.

I, for one, can't buy the iPhone presently because AT&T's service here is terrible. By allowing Verizon to have the phone, I will probably have to pay more then if AT&T had good coverage here, but, at least, THEN I could be an iPhone customer due to the geographical broadening.

Oh please no... Sprint IMO is not worthy for the iPhone, not to mention there 4G network is not that much better than the current 3G networks. As this is only a rumor, I doubt that this is gonna happen.

Is Sprint really that bad? I had Sprint before and I had no problems at all.

I for one like the fact that the iPhone does not have the AT&T logo on it. If I recall most if not all other smart phones have their carriers logos on them.

Logo is not going to be an issue, Apple will not have any other logo, and carriers would be happy to have it that way. Apple can offer different colors as part of exclusivity.

You can even make it a definition in dictionary......mistake.

I have a feeling Sprint may get it first, before Verizon. Apple will make Verizon wait a few more months. AT&t will be happier too, since AT&T may not loose that many customers to Sprint.

First, I will believe it when I see it.

Second, If Apple is going to make a CDMA iPhone they might as well deploy it across the Verizon and Sprint networks. It will create enough volume to make it well worth the investment.

With that said considering that they just made a deal with AT&T on the iPad I'm not sure they are ready to move beyond AT&T. Who knows what went on behind closed doors when they were working out the iPad deal.

They had they chance and they decided to pass on it....Sprint has definitely best $ plans when compare it to rest of the carriers.

My friend's girlfriend had a meeting with sprint, where she works, and they confirmed the sprint iPhone

Yeah, well my wife's second cousin, by the marriage of her half-brother, has an uncle that dog sits for a big wig at Sprint and he over heard the big wig's daughter talking on her phone to her boyfriend's older sister that it's not gonna happen until 2011, if then.

I was trying to compare the expensive price limits of the Ferrari to the carrier limits of the iPhone. Both of which cause them to remain somewhat limited and desired.

Cause Apple had a lot of demands, so they had to leverage iPhone exclusivity at the time. Stuff like not having a carrier logo on the phone itself, only carrier determined apps, carrier-controlled app distribution, visual voice mail changes, etc...

They offered it to Verizon, but Verizon refused.

Why are we so sure verizon is going to agree with Apple now?

Seeing how the Palm dog-and-pony show turned out to be a massive dud, I'd say Sprint is itching for a headliner product. The iPhone would make Sprint's name easily.

Rumours being what they are, however . . . ;)

Have you had your head buried in the sand?! There is this new fangled device called the Evo 4G that comes out in less than two weeks. You know, the US's first 4G phone. If the rumors are true about the new iPhone specs then the iPhone is already behind before it is officially announced. The Evo 4G is THE device to have at the moment. NO phone on the US market has better specs.

Did anyone else find it odd that sprint was using the iPhone in their own commercials? I'd love for the iPhone to be opened up to as many carriers as possible, I'm getting the iPhone either way this year, I'd just like to shop around and get the cheapest plan.

Verizon CEO said they would love to have iPhone. Verizon never realized iPhone will be this big. They thought Apple could never compete with Moto, Nokia etc in Phone market.
