Would switch in a heartbeat

I had Sprint for over 7 years before I jumped on the iPhone wagon. I love my iPhone, but my biggest regret is loosing Sprint. If they get the iPhone, I would be waiting overnight at the Sprint store with a big 'PLEASE TAKE ME BACK' sign.

I've been stuck on AT&T for the past 4 years and all I can say is thank goodness. AT&T coverage has been abysmal for me in the Boston area (I live about 30 minutes away from the city). Can't wait to make the switch.

iPhone 5, iPhone 4, and iPhone 3GS

If Apple is indeed to keep the 3GS around with a super-low price, watch as it claims the first three spots in phone sales.

It's about time! In my opinion every carrier should have the iPhone. I do however wonder if Sprint will keep with tradition and allow iPhone users access to their unlimited data plans. This is going to make my decision even more difficult now that Sprint might be an iPhone carrier.

Question for anyone living in or near Chicago...

I've lived in Chicago for a couple years now and have had the iPhone 3G since it came out on AT&T. It's pretty much a given that AT&T has a terrible reputation for dropped calls and I can attest to that. I tend to use mine more for data though anyway. In either case, can someone who lives in the area give me some advice on which carrier (Sprint included) seems to work best here? I've had both Verizon and Sprint in the past but in completely different parts of the country so I'm not sure how they compare here.

Will we be able to talk and surf the internet on Sprint or will it be another Verizon?

SPRINT now has a monumental responsibility to balance the phone plans that are completely out of proportion, or conform to the current high prices for the iphone...

i mean if they're offering a 70-89.99 simply everything plan, im all in

I will be in line (well, maybe not literally) the first day to replace my wife's HTC TP2 (on SERO) with an iPhone 4 or 5 (probably 5 - it's worth $100 to me) if Sprint has it. The $10/mo for "real phones" on SERO will totally be worth it. More than that and I'll have to seriously think about it.

I would have been OK with Android on that phone for a while (yeah, it's not mine, but it's my responsibility) if battery life wasn't so awful. But my wife has a hard enough time charging her phone nightly with WinMo 6.5. Charging the phone 2 or 3x daily with Android is never going to happen.

like folks above me, i hope t-mobile gets a native iphone too.

I know Apple released an unlocked iphone 4 earlier this year that works on t-mobile 2G/edge network; but would be great if it worked on t-mobile's 3G/HSPA/+ too!

My individual plan is on AT&T while my family is on T-Mobile.

If the merger goes through, I also hope my plan get grandfathered into AT&T's service. =/

At&T works great in the twin cities, MN; but I drove to Chicago for a weekend trip this month and I can also say AT&T coverage sucked! It worked great from minneapolis to wisconson (all the way to chicago's border); and works okay in downtown; but terrible in the burbs and china town.

It was pathetic in chinatown, almost like someone was jamming AT&T! not even edge worked well when i switched to it. My wife who is on t-mobile had not issues as well as friends who were in sprint.

What gives AT&T? you forgot to put up a cell tower in chinatown???

CDMA has advantages if you live in the US and never leave the US and have no interest in talking and surfing at the same time and don't mind having slightly faster than Edge speeds and you are ok with either selling your phone or throwing it way if you ever choose to switch to another carrier or move to another country.

For everyone else who is not interested in disposable phones, GSM has its advantages and I'm sorry that you Americans cannot get your phones officially unlocked like Canadians and Europeans can.

I can take my 3GS and use it in Japan with a rental SIM.

UNLIMITED potential! I was waiting to hear this news. Competition is such a good thing until of course the three big telecoms price fix the market.

I would go to Sprint for the plans and unlimited date but they have a massive dead spot that takes up half of my small town.

dang

I had a Sprint employee plan for years that I got through their retentions department. Unfortunately for me, I just cancelled it 2 months ago cuz I wasn't using it anymore. It only had 500 minutes per month, but all incoming calls were free, in network was free, nights and weekends started at 5 pm and were free, and texts were included. Plus it had unlimited data.
All for under $26-27/month after tax depending on the month.

Oh well....

Rental sims are very expensive in Japan. Much better to use one of AT&T's packages unless you are going to use data like crazy and you really need an unlimited package.
