Other than the font or photoshop artifacts, the other dead giveaway that this is a fake is that modern videocards are all billed as using GDDR for their RAM... the current one being GDDR3 and with GDDR4 slated to replace it...

Oh really? Tell that to Apple, I copied the text from the new MacBook Pro store page.

I guess the new MacBook Pro is a fake, then. ;)

/edit also nVidia is incorrectly capitalised to NVidia... ;)

Oups, my mistake. Though Apple also doesn't spell it nVidia either, they spell it all in uppercase.

Well... looks like if it is real (don't thinks so) it will be awsome. I would love to have a touch screen keyboard, and it seems all good... but WHY would Apple just have the slide show going? Practice, I mean really... besides, with today's technology, should that picture have been so messed up? I doubt it's real but I would love for it to be... except that 10" screen thing... or is that just the keyboard?

That's because it is NVIDIA... even NVIDIA calls it NVIDIA on their site. As far as I know, it has never been officialy nVidia, although their logo made it look that way.

While no expert, I'm guessing this is fake for one reason:

"Standard Features"

Has Steve EVER had anything like that on any of his presentations? I know he's had "BTO" on some, but...

So steve jobs doesn't.......

have a macbook to practice his speech at WWDC, so he practices on stage at moscone center?Gimme a break.......everyone practices their keynotes on their laptops or desktops, and they just have the file in an external storage unit!
I've been waiting for this ultraportable for a long time, and i wish it is true, but......we have to wait till Monday!

For a comparison:
Specs.jpg

or:
sc023.jpg

First thing to notice is that the title is the price/screen size, not something like "standard features". Also, the title bar is filled with a different color. Well I personally think it's fake, I would be surprised it it's true.

Common guys. If true, this could be one of the most significant product introductions in the Steve Era, right up there with the flat-screen iMac and Mac Mini. No way Steve would be this loose and careless with something as significant as this. No friggin way.

that, plus the unfamous "mid-range tower" :)

Oh man.

A 10" MBP and one of those Mac Pro mini towers would make my friggin'... quite frankly... life.

I could finally die in peace. :p

Well, not really... I'd still have to b*tch about the 10" not being 11".;)

11", 13", 15", 17".

COME ON APPLE! Keep it continuous and get it together, STAT! :D

Programmable LCD keyboard, huh?

Some one's been dreaming, and otherwise has a lot of free time on his hands.

Yeah, Apple doesn't have that technology yet.

iPhone anyone?

...it could be Robner...

Umm... "Robson" maybe?

Ok.

I'm starting on page 4 of this thread now, but if I see 1 more post that says anything along the lines of "FAKE! If it were flash based it would have to be 128 because 120 is impossible because of the nature of the technology, blah, blah, blah...", I'm gonna have to choke someone.

Steve Jobs rehearses the Keynote well in advance of the event. Although, I'm not sure if he practices at Moscone...

I heard he practices publicly while riding on the BART.

Possible fake yes... but it says FLASH BASED DRIVE, and you can get them..

http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/products/laptops/momentus/momentus_5400_psd_hybrid/

That's right.

For everyone screaming "this thing would cost $3000 or more", here's what I've heard and what Seagate says about flash based drives: "Hybrid drives offer many of the benefits of solid-state drives at a fraction of the cost."

I'll not comment on whether the photo is fake or not, but I can see Apple introducing a product like this at the $16-1800 price point, nicely filling the notebook gap between the MacBooks and MacBook Pros.

Now if it only had a dedicated graphics card.

MacBook Pro mini and a Mac Pro mini tower. [drooooool]

So, do these crazy specs mean that in the extremely unlikely event that they are true, that Apple has made a gigantic innovation?

Yup. This will be Apple's microsoft windows UMPC (origami) killer.

Assuming that failure is still even alive.

Has anyone even bought one of those things?

Apple's ultra portable will do to that market what the iPod did to the digital music player market, the Apple TV is doing to the media center oc market, and what the iPhone is about to do to the mobile phone/device market.

It's a good time to be an Apple supporter. :)

Only a 120 gb Flash drive!? I expect the the ultra-sub-micro-fictional Apple notebook to come with no less than a 250 gb flash drive!
So fake it pains me to gaze upon the image.

And I'm not buying one until it has a 2560x1600, 6" widescreen LCD, a 4.0 GHz 64-core processor, 64 GiB of RAM, a 4 TiB flash drive and 802.11z wireless networking. ;)

...i am curious what the "one more thing..." would be... but if anything i'm guessing it's the new iMac (which i still bet will be rebranded to simply "Mac")

Yup.

I believe the new design will shed the "i" for the "Mac".

But I don't think we'll see the new Mac for another 3 months or so at the earliest.

Probably around Apple Expo Paris (September 25th-29th) if not at MWSF '08.

I think we'll probably see 1 more update to the current iMac form factor line-up that will also begin the rumored phasing out of the 17" model.

Now THIS is hilarious!!! :D

...Al Gore in a tutu ready to amuse the audience with a crowd warming slide show about death and doom unless we vote for him.

[political comment]

Nah, he wouldn't stoop to that level. He's educated.

That lowly trick worked for dubya on 58 million people back in '04 though... lots of whom have come to their senses now luckily.

;)

[/political comment]

Now back to our program... is the photo real or fake, AND does it really matter because I for one think that the likelihood of a product like this being released by Apple is very high.

We've been wowed in the first half of this year with new products and announcements for AppleTV and iPhone, so is this (one of) the big surprise(s) for the last half of '07?

I think so. :)

I believe the new design will shed the "i" for the "Mac".

Person 1: So, what kinda computer do you have?
Person 2: I have a mac
Person 1: Which one
Person 2: A mac
Person 1: Yeah, but which one
Person 2: A mac
Person 1: A macbook, the all-in one, Mac Pro? Which mac?
Person 2: I told you, I have a mac

Exactly.

Apple simplicity and product line continuity.

Besides, it would be THE "Mac".

As in "I have the Mac".

;)

I would love a 10" machine (tablet or notebook or both) with the power of my 17" Macbook Pro.

I could then use it when out and about easier and plug it upto a monitor, mouse and keyboard when at home.

10" LED screen
2.33ghz Core 2 Duo
fastest hard drive as possible, big enough for essentials then rest can be on external drive
external DVD-Writer
2gb Ram

That would do me!

I think this may not be fake. Keep in mind, Apple has had a habit before prior MacWorlds to "accidentally" publish information about some unannounced products prior to the actual announcement. Remember the PowerMac G5 specs on the Apple Store a few days before it was announced? This could be an intentional fake by Apple just keep us all foaming at the mouth. We'll see next week for sure.

Ryan-

The first thing that made me suspicious of this is the way the second from last box breaks over two lines. If you've ever done design work, you know how that screams to be fixed. It throws things off in a very subtle way. I was trying to recall if Steve ever had lines break over like that or just widened the box to accommodate the width of the text. I think he's always adjusted the width of the boxes as it's aesthetically more pleasing to the eye, but I'm not sure. That's just off the top of my head, but the examples posted above back that up.

Ok well I have to say that this has to be a complete fake for one reason, no one is allowed alone anywhere near the new stuff. As i work near moscone west (where WWDC is being held) i know that apple has sectioned off the whole 3rd floor of Moscone West. All staff is prohibited on the third floor (other than appropriate apple staff). The few people that need to be there for set-up have to be escorted by apple security.

So with all this security I really doubt that this photo is real. I mean they don't even let you bring equipment into the third floor, instead there is apple security that take it from the third floor elevator to wherever/whoever needs it. Seriously apple is scary.... though maybe this is a good sign, then again they are always like this.

Awesome if true, but much like it would be awesome if Apple released a teleporter. Not only are the specs outrageous, but it's the same type of thread as about 6 years ago like when Steve announced 10.0. Sorry if somebody's already said this (I've only read 2 pages) but here's a screenshot:

fake

The first 32gb flash drive was debuted by SanDisk in March. Buy it in bulk for $350. So, if there is a 120gb version, it's roughly worth $1300. But apparently, it doesn't exist.
