64GB flash drive barely exist. 120GB is a fantasy and if by chance one did exist, it would make this thing more expensive than the 17". This is a fake.

Whilst I agree with most who have already posted that the circumstance, presentation style, not to mention the likely retail price of this "new" Apple device would be more likely factors in rendering this a fake. I'm not so sure we can discount the 128 (or even 1 * 20 GB) since both capacities appear to be available from San disk - albeit in a larger SCSI format than the 2.5 inch drives that most are referring to as cost and capacity multiple examples.

I won't take credit for the link since it was already posted in this forum, but I've not seen anyone comment on the fact that San Disk actually DO appear to have a 120 GB capacity SSD (flash) unit available.

Also found this which is intersting regards the rapid price drops in SSD type drives. http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,2103810,00.asp

120 GB Flash Based Drive

So maybe a 120 GB Hard Drive that uses flash memory for faster read/write access.

Line 2: Might say "130GB." Might say "One 30GB" or "120GB"

Or the 0 in the 120 might be an 8. Just to round it out. :)

Not that I think it is real, but that 0 could be an 8.

And this is a good link for a 120 GB flash disk:

We always get some sort of Photoshoped fake image every year. Why should this WWDC be any different? It's a nice try but, personally I think it's fake.

Somebody probably took a photo of the blank screen with his phone (Nokia phone data is in the image) and then brought it into Photoshop and had fun. Then erased the Photoshop meta data. It's not too hard :p :D I call fake. and yes I know my photoshop isn't the best, it was meant to make a point, not to be perfect
He doesn't even need to photoshop it. He just needs to put up an easy to make keynote slide on an projector in a room with the lights off and take a picture with his camera phone.

Yes, but in this situation that would be pretty hard to smuggle in and setup without security noticing. :p Photoshoping the photo is much easier.

unless I am reading that wrong it would apperar that that is a 3.5" drive not a 2.5" notebook drive.

That's how I saw it, although capacities 128 or less are only 0.5" high rather than 1.0" like regular 3.5" desktop or server HDs, so the drive could conceivably be fit inside an unit which had a 10" display. Since this is an entirely new product paradigm, then who's to say that traditional component measurements need apply? heck, the "drive" might even be mounted directly on the main logic board rather than be a plug in (commodity) component as with traditional mechanical HDs in laptops etc. Since there are no moving parts, then the likelihood of failure is (I assume) greatly reduced, therefore removing the need to make them serviceable.

I'm still calling a fake, but it will be interesting to see if anything similar to this comes out.

I also think it's fake but at the same time the second line doesn't necessarily say 120, it could be taken as 128. Also the one that says 10" could be 13" or 18". And HSDPA doesnt add up because USA 3G is UMTS.

Retraction

Ok...I'll retract my previous post.

So, what we're really saying here is that, while some band was breaking down their equipment from some other show, the setup guys from Apple came in to check the projector. It may have been in the main hall. But it could be a setup for some breakout session. They don't look like they were quite ready for a rehearsal of the presentation. But... just for kicks they put up a slide with the specs for some mysterious hot new product to test the projector.

This slide had nothing to do with any form of reality as we know it.

We'll just have to wait until Monday.

I really want to believe it's real and I can't bring myself to doubt it. So I opened it in Photoshop to adjust exposure levels to see if it would reveal anything, here is what I found, now we can be sure its real.

Oy...

Where to begin?

1) Font is wrong. As we all know, it should be Apple Myriad. I believe this is Gill Sans, the default font when you create a new slide in keynote using the gradient theme.

2) Look at the height of the bottom cell in the chart. It is not consistent with the top 3 cells.

3) Apple would never make a chart where the text is that crowded and close to the edges. "Drive" is almost touching the edge. Inset margin anyone?

4) Why is "Flash" capitalized, but not "based drive." Speaking of punctuation, there would most likely be a hyphen between "flash" and "based."

5) It is not an LED screen. It is an LCD screen, backlit with LEDs.

6) The Optimus keyboard is just now seeing the light of day (sort of). If that's the type of thing that the "programmable LCD keyboard" is referring to: a) Optimus uses OLED...I think because LCDs cannot be miniaturized to that scale, b) it is mad expensive.

7) Speaking of cost - the cost of this device would probably rival the TAM (Twentieth Anniversary Mac). Suddenly, you have an ultra-portable that is many times more expensive than a decked-out Macbook Pro.

8) This may be just the camera angle, or my perception, but that projection screen looks to be a standard aspect ratio. Aren't Apple keynotes generally widescreen these days?

OK...that's enough. Fake!

Of course! As soon as you change the gamma level.... WHAM! I should have guessed.

If this actually comes to pass, I just might die laughing. It would change our entire perspective about these elevator rumors.

What happens in elevators, stays in elevators.

And are those plants on stage? ...

as has been pointed out, the spacing is absolutely terrible.

FAKE: because of spacing (Arn, c'mon and mark it!)

I hope this one is true, but my gut says its fake. Apple cant spend the entire WWDC talking about Leopard, can they?
