Done. Thanks OP!

I'm pretty rough on my gear so when I got my 3GS, I bought the Best Buy Black Tie protection knowing I'd eventually break mine. $15 a month but I did break the 3gs so it covered it.

Been reading good things about Squaretrade so $80 for the 2 years for the same protection Best Buy gave me sounds like a deal. Lets hope this pans out as I'm fairly certain I will eventually break my i4. Further update once I break this new bad boy :p

Before the discount, it's $99 or $5.99 per month ($143.76 total). If I apply the 30%-35% coupon code, will that only apply to the first month or all the monthly payments?

Update: Looks like the discount is applied each month.

The $599 limit is a real deterrent to 32Gb owners. You are going to pay $230 for a new phone while 16gb owners get away with $130. I was ready to pull the trigger until I realized that. I guess I will go with the $30 bumper "insurance plan."

Use AMEX

FYI, AMEX extends the warranty by 1 more year after Apple's 1 year warranty expires for FREE when you use their card to make a purchase.

And no, I don't work for AMEX. I do use their credit card though. Just wanted to share the info but it's probably too late if you bought the phone already. :p

I haven't been able to confirm but my friend told me that there's a same program using Bank of America's debit card as well.

The point is that most people are more likely to drop their phone in the toilet or shatter the front plate on the ground, than have somebody steal it.

That's exactly opposite of a stat I read a week or 2 ago (that I can't find right now...but will keep looking.)

But is it....

How long until you qualify for a subsidized phone. For me its, February...after that $599 covers it and puts money in my pocket....

Use the following code

SLICKPHONE4

to get 35% (no max. discount) off your iPhone 4 warranty from Squaretrade. My 2 year warranty with accidental damage was only $80.

Got a similar code for iPad?

Do they cover theft/loss? If not, I don't see the point.

I'm with you. Living in DC, theft is probably the most likely thing to happen. I believe that is covered under my homeowners policy, but I doubt I would file a claim for something like an iPhone.

I think I'm going to get the Applecare warranty, just so that I can walk into any Apple store and get my phone replaced in the event it malfunctions. I will be careful to not drop or damage it and will also put away some extra cash to buy a new phone outright in case the horrific happens.

Dammit. Need to go get an AMEX then. I have heard that they extend the warranty Pretty awesome. Think I saw that mentioned elsewhere in the forums.

you cant get drop/spill protection from at&t or apple insurnace

this squaretrade is a no brainer IMO, especially that the whole phone now is glass and for less than $5 a month?

cant beat that

I agree about this insurance being a no brainer at this price. I normally don't waste money on electronics warranties, but this one looks like a winner. OP, thanks so much for letting us know and for the code.

I have Safeware policies on iPad and MBP mainly for theft protection as I use my gears in coffee shops and such almost everyday. Never had to file a claim, but customer service has been pretty good so far. When I got mbp coverage, an agent called me and offered discount by syncing it to my iPad coverage even without me asking. They are BBB A+ rated as well as squaretrade so I'm feeling comfortable going with either of them.

Squaretrade: cheaper, monthly pay option, in-term cancellation, more known

Safeware: covers theft/loss, coverage starts from day 1, renewable, won't drop coverage even you had totaled claim

Still thinking which one to get for iPhone.

I'm probably going to miss this deal, but I called and they do something every Tuesday. Sometimes even 40% off, so not to worry if Best Buy is ass raping you.
