Color Profiles for MacBook Pro

Can anyone tell me where to put a color profile I downloaded from these forums in Leopard? I was able to do it in Tiger but can find where to put the profile in Leopard. Thanks

any other 9c66 owners?? Man I'm loving it no yellowing whatsoever, I am finally a believer of getting a non yellow mbp I even did that test where the top square and bottom square is white and their both sparkling white and the bottom dock is clear as day as well =D colors look absolutely gorgeous and amazing I think even better than the samsung!! I highly recommend the 9c66~!!!

I've been through 3 lg (9c67), lg's looked white all around with still a tad yellowish tint on the bottom but colors are horribly washed out no matter what calibrations I used, 4 samsung (9c68) colors are amazing but a bit darker and yellow on the bottom towards the dock, so I know what i'm talking about. I wonder who makes the 9c66..

For what it's worth.....I have owned 8-9 MBP as well and I have only one which I consider to have a white screen. I have lowered my standards, too. The one I finally found to have a white screen (and you'll know it when you see it) I gave to my girlfriend. I was happy with that one. It was an LG week 27 or so.

Then I got 2 samsungs and they were piss yellow. And I got an LG one that I'm typing on now that is less yellow, but it's just a lighter shade and more so on the bottom. I don't know if we're all just trained for the slight blue tint of other LCD's, or what. But this piss yellow really bothers me , esp. for the proverbial price premium. Besides, it's Apple themselves who like to portray themselves as a high-end product, so with greater power comes greater responsibility.

I'm going to go back and try to exchange again. If you have ever seen a white screen, you'd know it on a macbook pro. There is no waffling about whether there's any yellow tint. I had an m1330 before that when I opened it thought "man it's totally yellow", and I just could not get used to that.

I wonder who makes the 9c66..

These are the manufacturers:
9C67 = LG
9c68 = Samsung
9C6D = Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO)
9C66 = AU Optronics (AUO)

AU Optronics is the 3rd largest maker of LCD's and #1 in
Taiwain. The few reports on their LCD's have had
yellowing too. It's all luck of the draw, I'm glad you got
a good one!

I've been pretty happy with my Samsung, lookin' like
I'll keep it. Got another week to decide...

I forget how to check your display model #. I thought it was in the system profiler, but I cant locate it.

I'm not sure I'm getting this issue. I would understand it if one manufacturer had the problem. Maybe a design and/or manufacturing issue. But when folks are reporting the yellowing across three or four independent suppliers, one has to wonder what this issue really is.

eyes can be deceiving.

I'm a graphic designer and I thought I was being overly picky but then 3 other people besides me saw the gradient issue and the bleed and white spots, plus within the 3 days I had it the screen would flicker when coming back from sleep.

I have a 9C66, i think the screen is really good, i tried to compare mine with 2 9c67 and the color gradient with LCD test is probably better in the latter, but the visual overall result is better in the former.
Nevertheless there are a couple of reports of yellowing issue also in the 9c66.

Maybe they just whine.

3-4? I thought there only existed 2?

I have a white spoot which moves "under the pixels" if I move my head. I hoped it was just junk or something but I guess we can forget that. I'll whipe my screen and turn of my machine completely and so on.

And if it's for real I'll wait for the next updates and then complain ;D
Or, will I get someone else filthy machine then? ;/

Actually I've been through 5 lg's not 3, because the very first mbp led I bought was a 2.2ghz lg that had a very very piss yellow band accross the dock, even viewing from the front was very very noticable. then I exchanged for another lg in the 2.2ghz which was washed out and then exchanged to a 2.4ghz and that too was an lg that looked washed out as well. Then I returned that one and in a few weeks later bought it thinking the yellowing was fixed and washed out as well (mycousin had a samsung with no yellowing colors were amazing, so I had it to compare to my lg). Then that one was a samsung but yellowing again and exchanged for another one and then another one and I kept that one until the gradient issue then one last time for an exchange making it 4th samsung *4 samsungs in a row =/* This one had 1 stuck pixel in the middle white very very small white dot. Sold it on ebay for a sony vaio tz, then I missed osx and tz was way too small then I went to comp usa and this was a few weeks ago when mbp led models were all sold out at all 2 applestores here in houston tx. So I bought a open floor mbp lg model from comp usa with a deal, took it back the next day *washed out colors* thought at the store it looked ok but nope. Then I bought another mbp when they had instock at the applestore and that too was an lg, again same washed out colors but not much yellowing at all, *whew*.

Ok after a week later of returning that one I decided to just use my mac pro, but I missed the portability of the mbp and didnt really need my 7gb ram mac pro since I dont use any pro apps really. So I sold it and about 3 days ago bought a mbp matte when its finally instock along with leopard and I was surprised that when I turned it on in my car in the galleria parkinglot that the colors looked very very vivid and I actually wanted the samsung because of the colors over the washed outness of the lg. I was used to the yellow tint by then. But it was odd no yellowing at all and it had awesome vivid colors and i checked the profile for the lcd and looked at line 13.. 9c66??? I took it home played with it more and compared the same backgrounds that i used to compare the many many other mbp's I had with lg's and samsung. This is THE perfect lcd I've been looking for. Looks better than samsung and all around even lighting even the bottom dock is amazing lit perfectly, no yellowing whatsoever, no warping, lid closes evenly, machine runs cool. Man finally after like 8-9 mbp I've been through since june-now... got my perfect mbp...

Sorry my typing has no commas or periods or proper grammar... Its 4am here and about to sleep..

I just got a new 2.4 MBP delivered. It's a week 52 Samsung. STILL has that yellow tint issue! Anyone else with these lately built machine having that 1/3 yellow tint problem?

My display is made by Chi Mei Optoelectronics (9C6D) and it has some yellowing. Hard to notice most of the time but I was doing a sideshow in Bridge and the all grey screen makes it really apparent

I purchased an MBP the day they were introduced in June. I calibrated the screen and have been pleased with mine ever since. It is a LG display. In December I purchased one for my husband's birthday. His didn't even need to be calibrated and I swear the viewing angles are even better than on mine. His is also an LG display. The other thing that I noticed is that his came with different profiles already installed. I believe that there have been issues on some displays, but I also don't think that the problem is as widely spread as posts on this forrum would indicate. People who have problems will post here when people without problems are a lot less likely to post. Maybe I just got lucky, but I do photography and video and I am very happy with our two displays.

I bought two MacBook Pros in December 2007, and both had the yellowish bottom 3rd of the display.

I've returned both of them, and am now fairly pissed off that Apple gave me the run-around insisting that there was no such thing as a "Yellowish Display Defect."

Here's a picture of my yellow display:

Shame on Apple!

Hey
I just run LCD TEST on my new :apple: SR MBP and as well on mine "old" Generation 2.2 :apple: MBP (actually 4weeks old but can't return it) and in gradients test the LED LCD provided some wierd results :confused: (one horrizontal line and one curved one across the whole test) Also it's seems a bottom part of screen is going little yellowish, anybody has this experience:cool: :( :confused: ?

what do you mean by one horizontal line and one curved one?

how can you tell the make of your screen?

Your scripts are broken.

Also I belive what all the whiners see are just ****** viewing angles, and they won't get better as long as it's a TN panel, just a waste of money from Apple and higher prices for us because you replace your machine in infinity for something which is crappy but still not a flaw.

Have you figured out why some displays don't have the problem and others do? Do you have a theory as to why the yellow is always on the bottom? Enlighten us please...

Got my MPB with LG screen, as far as i can see(used LCDtest.app), no problems: nice colors, no bad pixels, clear whites.
But everyone should understand that today the laptop screens can not be of the same quality as desktop screens, may be in future they will.

Becuase of this yellowing and the missed keystroke problem I brought mine back 3 times and said screw it. They made me eat a 200.00 restocking fee for a bad product which is BS!

I can't believe you guys are okay with this - I just bought a 15" MBP to replace my PowerBook G4, and I am rather annoyed that the bottom 1/3 of the screen is yellowish.

If they're really all like this, what can I do? Maybe if I wait a while before returning it, they'll get a new shipment in.
