I was able to convince the Applecare Product Specialist of my problem by sending her some videos.

It took a week but my new MBP replacement is finally on a plane from China. :)

This thread has finally died down which is hopefully a good sign.

I took mine to a Apple store yesterday and was upgraded from a 2.2 to a 2.4 because they only had matte....I have a perfect week 30 LG Matte screen could not be happier :)

Where are the videos?

This is a pic of my screen (looking straight on, 0 degree tilt). Unlike a lot of people here, I notice the yellow/beige colouring at the top rather than the bottom. It's an LG week 30. What's everyone think -- is it worth playing roulette with Apple to get a tint-free screen?

Maybe apple have started to turn them around 180 degrees to make people looking for bottom tint miss it ;D

they all have the yellow or darker overcast problem. My 3rd one has that too, tiny tiny tiny bit. I am cool with it.

by the way, i just picked up a new apple keyboard (wired). i am using it now. what a sexy babe. it feels like the macbook keyboard. smooth and sexy.

Nope they do not all
have it...mine is super white not a tint of yellow anywhere, my first was bad....

2.2 vs. 2.4

is there a better chance of getting a non yellowed screen if you order the 2.4 version with the 256 meg ram video card?

That was my first thought, too...lol.

So guys, how bad's my tint relative to others (pic is a few posts up)? I've only seen a few pics of others and mine seems to be right up there with them (except mine's at the top rather than bottom 1/3). Ironically it's most noticeable while viewing this forum...

i don't know if i have to send this back to my reseller, because, i'm afraid,of what i've read that some have their replacement that have worser cases, like much yellower or with dead pixels and kernel panics(which i never had with this one, yet), the other thing that bothers me is that i only noticed the yellow thing when i read this forum, maybe, this is ok? but since, i can't stop thinking about this anymore, please help me decide, please,,.... please take a look at the photos below, i had no camera with me, so i took the pictures with my n70 so the photos are not so clear, please help me decide...

The default "Color LCD" profile that the MBP ships with is far too yellow and washed out. If you search this forum you'll find a couple of others that people have posted, which initially look a bit pink/purple in comparison but your eyes soon get used to it and they do make the screen look more white. The issue with the yellow tint isn't due to this profile though. The problem that some people (including myself) have experienced is that the lower section of the screen when viewed face on - not at an angle or viewing from the side - is noticeably yellow compared to the rest of the screen; there may also be uneven backlighting along the bottom inch or two of the screen and/or in the bottom corners. If it just looks a bit yellow all over when you take it out of the box it's not defective; the colour profile just needs to be changed/calibrated.

i have a great one DL of these forums and its a massive improvement.

at first and in isolation the default profile doesnt actually look that bad, bit of yellowing but otherwise nice. but having it next to my dell 2005FPW (running off the MBP) when im working on the dell for a few moments then switch back to looking at the MBP you can instantly tell right away that its much more yellow.

i think the profile i got from here is called MBprojun07 or something like that.

when i enable it, you can see that the colour cast from the display over the keyboard goes from white/yellow to a whit-ish-pinky-red, but the screen looks alot better, the colors come across richer, its less washed out and the brightness is less harsh. its as close to my dell as i can get now so i'll continue to use it....having dual monitors show similar colors is big plus when workign with them.

Is this still an issue with the new Macbook Pro's? I'm considering buying a new MBP this week and am trying to decide if I should buy a new one if the issue still exists.

If it does i'm going to buy a refurbished non-led model.

By all recent indications, this is still somewhat of an issue.

My uhm, 5? or 4, weeks old macbook pro got the samsung panel and earlier I thought it looked kind of yellowish at the bottom but mostly due to uneven backlighting, anyway if I lay down and put i in my knee watching something and tilt the screen straight at me I can't see any different, this is after calibrating it however so there may be a bigger difference with the original profile, I don't know.

Anyway I would say I DON'T have the issue, but that the 130/110 degrees viewing angles do make the screen rather ****** but that is to be expected since it's a TN-panel.

It looks like I have some darker backlighting at the bottom of the side edges and there the.. uhm.. what is it called in english, where you "bend" something between two edges? Hinges? Above them some variation in backlighting can be seen.

It's not obivous in this browser window thought.

Also when I play wc3 and have raised gamma in it, press apple-m to get it window sized and the whole desktop keeps the higher gamma setting, and I use adium with 1337 message theme (black background with light blue stripes) the message window flashes for some reason. I have never experienced it without wc3 running thought.

I'm getting ready to buy a 2.4ghz in a week. And unlike most people here i prefer the samsung over the lg. I dont see the slight yellowness on the bottom to be defect. Just look at the color temp of the older mbp, their all blue!! I just think that the color tempt is yellow on these led backlighting and normal. Ive actually owned 6-7 led mbp just a few months ago and thought all the lgs have crappy colors compared to the amazing colors on the samsung. Imo i think the lgs colors are way too washed out. Im really hoping for a samsung screen.

Reason for me getting a mbp is im selling my 2,66ghz mac pro. As i want portability and mac pro was way over kill for what i do.

i just bought the led 2.4ghz mbp and its a 9c66 i think chi mei or another samsung. And wow the colors are much much more vivid than the precious 2 lg i had! There are no yellow tint or dead/stuck pixel, no back light bleeding of any kind and the lid closes perfectly even, no warping of the scren and its absoluting perfect in matte screen. Finally apple fixed thir mbp problems!

9C67 = LG
9c68 = Samsung
9C6D = Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO)
9C66 = ???

Any 9c66 owners out there want to run SwitchResX to find out what model screen it is?
