I wonder if it was instead just be bumped to "front of the line" to be shipped out with the next large batch. If so, your dates at least give us a timeframe.

Sorry for the late reply but I think you are correct.

I have a further update, the replacement watch instead of being delivered in-between 9 June - 12 June, shipped today locally from Sydney and is being delivered tomorrow - 5 June.

I couldn't be happier with the service. Here's my timeline:

1 June - visited local Apple store, they recommended calling Apple direct for a replacement as it would be faster so I called & asked for a replacement. They arranged for the faulty watch to be picked up on 3 June.

3 June - Faulty watch picked up. Replacement watch went "Preparing for Shipment" late in the evening.
4 June - Replacement watch shipped.
5 June - tomorrow - due to be delivered.

I had to go back to using my Pebble for these few days and tell you what, I was struggling. I cannot wait for my watch to get to me tomorrow.

All you guys waiting, hang in there - it is a really special device and the Space Black - that is the best of them all.

With the front page announcement today about the Watch, I instantly was relieved for us the SBSS owners / orderers. Jeff william's specifically promised all models but ours will be shipped in the next 2 weeks before stores start getting watches in. Not only that, but he SPECIFICALLY mentioned the SBSS as being backlogged and couldnt promise a 2 week turn around.

Now normally this would be a bad thing, but the fact that they ACKNOWLEDGED us means they know we are waiting more than anyone and I believe they are doing the best they can, but I think the mass producing of the black stainless steel + the DLC is whats killing apple.

I believe they DLC coat the Mac Pro (sure looks like it) but even then, its a bigger piece of steel and mac pro's were delayed a month instantly and kept getting delayed more. I believe apple's working super hard to overcome manufacturing our watches perfectly and then they will ship every single one out asap.

So chin up guys! Im happy knowing this incase I have any problems with my watch. So if I need to get a replacement in a month, I'm confident that we will see them in stores. All july orders will most likely be taken care of first week of july.

Status on mine just changed. xx:30, preparing to ship, delivering in a couple of weeks.

Yeah. I should likely stop checking my order status all of the time. Doesn't look like they can produce the "miracles" they did for the other SKU's. I suspect the company that they contracted to do the DLC coating may be the bottleneck.

Keep in mind guys - Apple doesn't manufacture anything themselves. And the PVD coatings, including DLC have been around for some time. Apple wouldn't have tried to recreate the success these companies would have established in doing this process over the last 20 years from scratch. They would have instead researched who produced the best results and could keep up with their anticipated market demand. It's apparent they didn't anticipate the initial volume, or they would have started plating the bands and watch bodies much sooner. Hell, maybe the manufacturer was too busy with orders for TAG or Rolex.

We should look at the new date ranges we have, set our expectations on those and be pleasantly surprised if Apple get them to us sooner. We're simply disappointed as we saw other models moving quicker...that just isn't the reality for this watch.

So I just got an email from Apple saying this:

Thank you for ordering an Apple Watch 42mm Space Black Stainless Steel Case with Space Black Link Bracelet. We’re working hard to ship orders as quickly as possible and in the order they were placed.

As you may have heard, some models of Apple Watch will soon be available for purchase in Apple Retail Stores. We’d like you to know that the model you ordered will not be available for purchase in Apple Retail Stores until all current online orders have shipped.

When your order ships, we'll send you an email with a specific delivery date and tracking information. For the most up-to-date information about your order, please visit online Order Status.

That means SSSB will only available at store once the backlog is finished

Yep. Jeff Williams also inferred that in his statement, but didn't say it directly. Likely a good thing they're sending out the e-mail, so those that missed Jeff's statement are reassured that Apple isn't screwing them over. :)

Hey @fischersd !

My watch is in Mount Hope now. Do you have any idea do they fly it into St. John's or if they send it by ground transportation like train/truck.

Heh. I'm in Ontario...I don't spend a lot of time watching east coast UPS flights. :) I thought you said it flies to Montreal after?
Ok, you're going to see it clear customs at Mount Hope, then the shipment goes to Concord, Ontario to be broken up into regional shipments. Then (in your case) it goes back to Mount Hope to fly to....I'm guessing either Montreal, then St. John, NB or straight to St. John. NB? It wouldn't make sense for them to start trucking from Montreal - would take too long to get to St. John.

Yeah that is what I was thinking, it will never be here on time by ground transport. I don't see any ups flight coming into St. John's.. So, I guess I won't be getting it tomorrow if it doesn't fly into st. john's.

Keep an eye on your tracking. Apple gave you the 5th for a date, right? If UPS didn't update your shipping estimate to Monday, then they know Apple gave you the 5th and they'll try to hit it. It's pretty surprising how quickly they can move. (didn't help to have those two delays in China).
