This EOD is good news that they are at least aware of Space Black Orders...however I have a theory of why some of us have not received this "EOD".

The email states will ship in 2-3 weeks (from today) which is like the Tail end of the May 13th-27th window.

Could it be possible that those of us with 01-03 confirmations did not receive this email because we will be getting it ASAP as in next week the 13th?

yeah but ordered at may the third and such an early time frame is a good signe, no?

At some point, Apple will be past the initial BIG wave, and at the same time component supply constraints will also ease, meaning later orders will wait much less. Not surprising. It's also the same time window I bet it starts showing up in stores to walk out with.

So I may be eating my words more quickly than I expected. Looks like a couple of folks in the SS link thread are also saying that they received the "EOD" today.

FYI - I follow both threads b/c I ordered both watches. I ordered both watches b/c by the time my SS SB processed, my May shipping window had already slipped to June, so I ordered the plain SS link as a backup.

This guy ordered his ss link watch 3:02est 4/10 and got this email: https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/21239705/

Hey guys, potentially really stupid question (Will probably result in me face-palming once answered) … What's EOD?

Cheers.

Not a stupid question. Basically it's an email from Apple saying that they're working on your order and it will be delivered in your shipping window. EOD stands for Email of Death, because Macrumors.

I feel there must be something different in production time for the 42's. All of them, except the editions which surprisingly have a June delivery date for the 42, have the July shipping time.

Supply and demand...Apple can supply the same quantity of 38 & 42, but the 42 has more demand so shipping times are longer....

Estimate of Delivery.

haha, no, its the Email of Death, something about Apple cancelling the order or something.

Hahaha. Thank you. That's kinda similar to Estimated Ontime Delivery which is what I had deciphered from it.

Thanks again!

Heh. Around launch if you got on it just meant your watch wasn't coming on the first date of the delivery window. For instance, my mother got an "EOD" for her watch and she got it on the 27th instead of launch day.

The term "EOD" which does indeed stand for "Email of Death" is a term coined here on MacRumors the week of the initial launch (April 20th-24th).

Obviously people were very hyped and excited to get their watches and no one knew for sure if they were going to get their watches or not on launch day (4/24).

The emails contents basically served as a reminder of their estimated ship time which many saw as a reminder that hey...we didn't necessarily promise you a 4/24 delivery...see? We promised you a 4/24 THROUGH 5/8!

They coined this the Email of Death as in...I am not receiving my watch on launch day.....This turned out later to have no correlation as to whether or not they would receive their watch on launch day as many who received this EOD still did get a launch day watch.

Meanwhile the space black thread watched in agony as several people received their watches and were always envious of the mighty "EOD"

Today marks a momentous occasion as apparently Space Black AND Regular Link watches are getting some sort of EOD - and now we are speculating that this EOD is indeed a "deathwish" that you will NOT get your watch on 5/13 which was the earliest promised date for those watches. Obviously no proof to back this up - all speculation.

Does this make sense? Are we all caught up now?

I called Apple today to switch payment method from amex to Visa.

I ordered and got confirm 8 mins after launch.

When I called today, apple stated that my apple care had been sent for credit authorization today.

In otherwords....

I had a charge sent to my cc provider for applecare today.

Thoughts?!

I have that too on my Amex.... Been there since I first ordered under pending charges.
