That makes the window opening at 12th May make even less sense but I have a new wave of patience now seeing that things are visibly moving.

PFS/charging can change order. Keep an eye on your credit card. Some people ran into issues with their banks denying the charge (saying fraud protection). Considering it's 5am here, that means it's 10am there - you should call them and make sure they're aware of this charge - just to make sure they don't deny it.
The US flipped from PFS to Shipped - the ones this week were typically later the same day.
