Honestly I’m hoping for a flat body because I would expect a flat screen to come with it, which would make applying a screen protector much easier.
Apple can claim these things are tough as nails but my Series 6 is scratched all to heck and it’s getting annoying.

still on my AW4 that i have since release.
400 dollar for 4 years of usage is ok the battery is now at 81% and still records all my rides just fine.

This news will be 100% i dont argue that, apple is just like that, having their pro model look so much nicer and better that you feel cheap/having the base applewatch at a price tag of 400 USD.... As unlike the SE everyone can see you went "Cheap"

And although perfectly fine, it somehow does diminishes the overall feel of your purchase as this is still a Apple product and not a Android chinese watch.

BecauZe InfLAtiON!.... i can hear them scream already.

Also since apple still sells AW3 new in 2022!

it shows that all these upgrades are kind of minute/incremental and that 5 year old apple watch technology is still being sold as new by apple themselves.

That on it`s own shows that these devices from Apple have small differences amongst them and the newer they get the more of those small changes, but Apple still deem their 5 year old product perfectly fine to sell to consumers in 2022.

That to me shows, that you should switch your AW only once every 5 years at least unless the battery cannot last 5 years, then you see a inherent hardware flaw as the battery just can`t overcome such hardware cycles that Apple handates.

All this angst and we don't know for sure these rumors will pan out. Still another 5-6 weeks before we know for sure.

Oh well looks like Apple is not getting my money for one more year... I just like a black/ space grey watch that is aluminium and doest cost the price of a Rolex since the ideal is to upgrade every year, why would I spend more on a titanium or steel case? I do t want a blue watch

Frankly I think Apple left some money on the table when they removed space grey from the aluminum lineup last year.

I say this not only because I wanted one, but also anecdotally I heard others skipped AW7 for this very reason. They didn’t want to spend $ on a SS model just to get a neutral grey.

Sadly I think the only remaining option is to go with an SE.

I believe you are right. Apple is dropping the ball with the removal of Space Grey or at least a neutral black color. Lot's of people who aren't into that midnight thing. Not sure why Apple thinks it's a good idea.

Well guess I'll keep using my Series 2 space grey watch. :)

im tired of the square design. aw7 looks very similar to aw1. I just brought garmin epix 2 because of this and go out running with aw7 as well for the cellular feature in case of emergency. When apple releases a NEW design (round perhaps) i might consider getting it.
Round is just silly for digital, it's a waste of useful screen area as there are no mechanical hands physically moving around anymore....yeah, yeah, it's a fashion thing, but then get a real watch that carries some clout.....

Yeah, I'm planning on getting the 45mm series 8.......only if it has a flat glass screen. Because I will hope that Zagg will make a tempered glass screen protector for it. I keep scratching the watch screen.

Come on, odd comparison. an Apple watch does not even cost as much as a Rolex watch band.

Why would they invest the money is changing the design and incur the manufacturing cost of doing so when all they have to do is add a rugged case and matching band, and then add $500 to the price to call it rugged? Thats the money product there… the one they call the rugged… right?

All they need to do now is just match the faux design up with the next batch off greater fools and Tim has just had himself a Quarter that will satisfy his Wall Street buddy’s that have offices just down the hall from him. Thats what its all about, right? Spend little to nothing on innovation and creativity (thats an expense; bad expense.)

Written like someone who hasn't used an AW3 and an AW7 (or AW6). :)

The differences between an AW3 and AW7 are only "small" if you have a sufficiently limited usecase for an AW that you need nothing beyond the most basic features.

Exactly this! I’d gladly go all out titanium but knowing Apple sunsetting 3 year old watches that are perfectly fine and not along OS upgrades just defeats the whole purpose of it.

Sticking with my S4 for now as a workouts-only device, while I enjoy my mechanical watch all other times and will always get a aluminium base Watch so I can use all the ‘tech’ inside and chuck it away when Apple turns it into a brick.

Where are you seeing loss of OS support in three years? Where are you seeing that it'll turn "into a brick"?

Your AW4 should remain supported in WatchOS 9, and thus would have had between five and six years of WatchOS support even if WatchOS 10 ceases to support it.

Even if it's dropped from WatchOS 10 it shouldn't stop working, not sure why you'd think it would.
