A new trailer and the release date has dropped this weekend

I am really looking forward to this.

As much as I don't want another subscription....
-Star Trek Discovery (sorta interested)
-Picard (really interested)
-NCIS shows on demand (also, sorta interested)

Having just watched the first episode, I can't objectively say if it was good or not. All I know is that I really loved it.

Patrick Stewart is amazing in everything he does and this is no exception.

Agreed: I'd happily watch Patrick Stewart trim his toenails, and persuade myself that this is art.

Actually, he is a superb actor, and graces anything that he appears in; moreover, his presence playing Captain Picard was what really transformed STNG into something special.

He was __hysterical__ on the morning news show today, he dropped this really casual joke, about Harry And Meghan being on his new show ("Oh sure, they're playing aliens from ..."), hahahaha, I love him 😍

Just subscribed and watched the 1st episode of Picard last night. What a great show! I cannot wait to see how this goes and how the back story develops. If you get a chance, there is a prequel comic out that covers what led up to his resignation from Star Fleet. Very good, so far!

"Tea. Earl Grey. Decaff."

Plus the bit where Sir Patrick spends 30 minutes reading out the San Fransisco telephone directory (no, sorry, I made that up - but yeah, he's that good).

Oh, and (at least) two great visual references to classic "zoom in/zoom out" scenes...

Agreed, with one exception - - his French is horrendous.

Thank goodness for the return of real Star Trek!

If it wasn't for Seth McFarlane's excellent Orville series, I don't think I might ever have survived the 20 year Trek drought with only Abrams' theatrical monstrosities and Kurtzman's tone deaf TV series.

Amazing what good storytelling and a true understanding of the philosophy of Star Trek can do.

Not gonna lie, when I saw Data on the screen it was emotional. Love that character and never imagined I would be seeing any form of him again. I loved how it felt nostalgic yet new and interesting at the same time. I don't regret signing up for CBS streaming, something I once thought I certainly wouldn't do.

^^I agree, had me from the first scene!! Loved the Data parts and the story line is off to a good start! Can't wait for the next episode!!

Here is a good review for non trekkies to get the back stories on some of the series. Kind of long but good:

I had no idea Data would be back. The show is now a must see. :) How many episodes in Season 1?

The Picard title is from IDW Comics. There are already 2 issues out (of 3). They should be available at your local shop, online or digitally from someone like Comixology.

Is it considered cannon?

I’m pretty dissatisfied with CBS All Access. I subscribed to see Star Trek Discovery. I decided to watch Picard today, but CBS wanted me to subscribe again in order to watch it. I checked and my subscription is active and current. I force stopped the app, cleared the cache, cleared the data and then restarted the app. Same thing. “SUBSCRIBE TO WATCH.” I tried calling them. Nothing. I sent them an email. They’ll get back to me sometime. Soooo...

I love Patrick Stewart, but not enough to subscribe twice to CBS All Access. It would be like getting HBO in a cable package and still getting charged $5.99/mo to see Game of Thrones.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Sadly, I think CBS has lost a subscriber. I’ll have to enjoy Picard vicariously through you guys.

There's no reason you should have to pay twice or forego watching. Be persistent and you'll prevail eventually.

I saw the first episode last night and enjoyed it greatly. Aside from the pleasure of becoming re-acquainted with old friends (Picard, Data, Number One the human), it was exciting to begin to explore the STP "universe," which was simultaneously familiar and new. I think Gene Roddenberry would be proud.

You're not alone. When he was talking about Data ... I teared up significantly. I grew up with data as my hero - my favorite character. Hit me hard when I watched Nemesis in theaters. So this episode affected me quite a bit more than I thought it would.

I cannot wait for the others!

If the rest of season is as good as this one, I will promptly buy on iTunes.

I remember reading about him saying he was too old to play Data years ago. I'm glad he was wrong!

Not sure but Data's not the only person returning....

The latest episode of "Short Treks" (S2E6) references Picard and the new series.

the only short trek I've seen and liked it (the others look atrocious).

Love the new Picard series (a friend gifted me the CBS sub for this show). Would not normally buy.

At least you can watch it on disc when it comes out or maybe iTunes...

I certainly wouldn't pay again, __and__ I'd get my existing subscription up and running as expected. First - to answer your question - no, we sub, we get the service, and we've been a CBS subscriber in the past (may reactivate specifically for Picard :) )

I'd try some other device(s), looks like it's available through a ton of delivery mechanisms. iOS/tvOS/iPadOS, Android, XBox, PS4, web ... I'd try another option if it's available to you, and I'd start from scratch on the device where it's not currently working, i.e., complete uninstall/re-install.
