I’m pretty dissatisfied with CBS All Access. I subscribed to see Star Trek Discovery. I decided to watch Picard today, but CBS wanted me to subscribe again in order to watch it. I checked and my subscription is active and current. I force stopped the app, cleared the cache, cleared the data and then restarted the app. Same thing. “SUBSCRIBE TO WATCH.” I tried calling them. Nothing. I sent them an email. They’ll get back to me sometime. Soooo...

I love Patrick Stewart, but not enough to subscribe twice to CBS All Access. It would be like getting HBO in a cable package and still getting charged $5.99/mo to see Game of Thrones.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Sadly, I think CBS has lost a subscriber. I’ll have to enjoy Picard vicariously through you guys.

I got this message but I was already subscribed. I think the number of devices is severely limited with CBS. I first watched on my iPad, but had to log off it in order to watch on my Xbox (also was logged onto AppleTV).

Yeah, it looks like two concurrent streams. The number of devices doesn't seem to be limited, but a login from one probably counts as a "stream".

I certainly wouldn't pay again, __and__ I'd get my existing subscription up and running as expected. First - to answer your question - no, we sub, we get the service, and we've been a CBS subscriber in the past (may reactivate specifically for Picard :) )

I'd try some other device(s), looks like it's available through a ton of delivery mechanisms. iOS/tvOS/iPadOS, Android, XBox, PS4, web ... I'd try another option if it's available to you, and I'd start from scratch on the device where it's not currently working, i.e., complete uninstall/re-install.

Thanks. I deleted and reinstalled the CBS app on my fire stick and on my phone. Now everything seems to work. But I’ll know in a week if they re-bill me.

We get our sub through Amazon Prime, so we can watch it across all of our devices that have an Amazon Prime App.

Outside the US, we get Picard included with Amazon Prime :smug: although, annoyingly, everything else Star Trek is on Netflix...

That's annoying. I used Amazon Prime to subscribe to CBS but I did get a deal for three months to ease the pain.

Picard is looking really old. Shouldn't he be retired now? ;) Discovery? I’ll take that any day over Voyager or Enterprise.
loved voyager, did not like enterprise .

Enterprise wasn't great but it was frustrating that when it felt like it was getting better they cancelled it. That finale was awful.

Yeah, I don't know what they were thinking when they made the finale an "Extra ST:NG Episode".... Moonves, I guess....

Decided to watch the Pike Short Trek - loved it (though I saw from a mile away it was a Command Officer Test), Anson Mount was great.

He needs his own series - maybe "Star Trek: Captains" a showcase of different captains/starships. That would more than make up for the STD disaster...

;)

Loved it too. But i absolutely hated the f-bomb.

i was almost as shocked as Picard
I felt as taken aback as Picard did, too, which I think was the writers' goal for that one. To feel a sense of how much they really don't like Picard at this moment and how much Starfleet appears to have changed.

I also have to wonder if that Vulcan Starfleet Commodore knows her associate is a Romulan agent or not. Seems like there's quite a few cover-ups going on (echoing current reality, perhaps?).

Also thought it was a nice touch for all the synthetics to have eyes like Data's.

Liking it so far, but the app on my Samsung 'Smart' TV keeps freezing, so it's either iPad or Apple TV for me.

Not a fan of the f bomb either, but that's the way things are now. They thing they're being 'edgy' when really its just lazy writing.

FYI, the first EP is also on Prime in the US, just the first, but it's just another way to check it out - potentially for free - before you commit to a paid CBS sub.

__Exactly__. It was a pretty clever bit of writing, and it succeeded in framing the situation (both the moment and the general perspective on the current Trek universe).

The one negative I take away from Star Trek: Picard is the theme music by Jeff Russo, the same man who does the theme music for Discovery. It’s slow and dreamy and would be more suited, I think, to frame Picard’s funeral. There’s nothing inspiring or heroic or transcendent about that music. It’s nothing.

For all of its cheesiness (including 1965 Desi Arnaz bongo drums and the weird vocalizing of ?Yma Sumac?), Alexander Courage’s original music and Jerry Goldsmith’s music for TNG both stand head and shoulders above Russo’s boring music.

In my opinion, an excellent example of heroic movie music is Patrick Doyle’s music for the end titles of the first Thor movie.

The opening music sets the tone for the show or movie to follow. What does Russo’s music tell us? That a nap is soon to follow. Fortunately, we have Sir Patrick Stewart to keep us awake!

The second episode was pretty cool.

I continue to be unnerved by the state of the federation. Ds9 had some federation leadership episodes and of course tng had a few episodes. How was the federation not corrupt and defunct and run by every other species than those actually in the federation... still, I liked this episode and definitely will continue my interest in Picard as a hard core trekkie.

Love the interface of the computer. Drool.

My Mom wanted to watch 'Picard', so I got her set up with CBS All Access. I watched the premiere episode and like it a lot. I've also been wanting to watch ST Discovery, so after a week, I went and signed up for CBS also. I'm liking ST:picard so far with only two episodes - good foundation. This looks like it'll be a good series.

Yeah, it's a bit ethereal and meandering, a couple of moments it felt like it might be slowing to a maybe a pause and dramatic crescendo, but then is was just sort of a bridge to another slow passage. It's not bad, but it does need a little extra something to convey the spirit of adventure (that I hope is the foundation of the show).

Heck, I actually like Discovery a good bit more, especially at the 1:30 mark in this version, there's a nice break, some drums, a bit of a build up, I think it comes a touch late, but I do love the little Trek music cue at the beginning :)

Wife and I just got done watching third episode.

Not sure if y'all want me to put spoilers ... let me know if not.

The fight that Picard had in the early portion was very Discovery like, it seemed. But it got really good especially the music at the end. Engage !!! Haha. The technology and fight scenes were nice but shaky camera got a little annoying. I may be nitpicking but the Romulans don't "feel" Romulan or devious. They ... feel like... human villains. The tech and the ship and the Spaniard pilot with the hologram was really good - that character is comfortable and I look forward to future episodes. The EMH is a character I liked a lot. I really like the ship but it's tiny. Also, just me or, shouldn't they have called for security after that Romulan attack? This is Earth...
