Agreed. In general I'm pretty open minded, but I struggle very hard listening to people glorify overpriced tripe. I cannot fathom anyone calling the prequels "high quality", or even "good", I can barely imagine "tolerable". Why purchase this rubbish?

I like the prequels and so for me they are high quality. I purchase such "rubbish" because I enjoy watching them. You start off your post as saying you're open minded but then you go on to call them rubbish. Different strokes for different folks. Just because you don't like them, means they're inferior or are rubbish.

As a HUGE fan of Star Wars (to the point that I am one of "those" who bought the R2-D2 Droid 2 last year when it came out), I bought the set strictly for the 40 hours of extras. A lot of the stuff included with the Blu-Ray has previously been unseen.

I understand that the Star Wars universe is George's and as such, he can do what he wants with it. If he wants to make Jar-Jar a Jedi Master and head of the Rebel Alliance, so be it. But, for the love of all things pure, just release the original trilogy untouched on digital media for the purists like me. I don't think that is too much to ask and I am sure a set like that would fly off the shelves even quicker. The problem is that he is sitting on his throne with his head in Cloud City and doesn't want to listen to what the fans have to say. What he will listen to is a loss of $$$. Unfortunately, there are too many people like me who will continue to hand it over for anything with the Star Wars label on it. Hence the term fan (short for fanatic).

Here's hoping he'll come to his senses soon.

Read on a different board - "I heard Lucas made a sandwich for lunch last week and ate it. Today he is swallowing salt, pepper and mayo to make it better."

Have you had a chance to watch the movies yet? If so what do you think of the quaility of the video and sound presentation?

This is on my christmas list, can't wait to get it. I am like you I really want the extras! 40 hours worth of extras... oh I can't wait!

I bought the set first thing Friday morning (on release day) and unfortunately have not had the time yet. I am extremely active in Scouting and between camping and meetings I just haven't had the opportunity to sit and enjoy. After this weekend, though, I will have a few nights free to check it out.

On the fence. To much tinkering and I agree with knight.......the prequels killed it for me too.

Just forget about Episodes 1-3. I really have no desire to go back and relive this part of the story mostly because it has no heart. Hopefully to get blu-ray you don't have to buy all of them? How much is the set I wonder?

What kind of changes were made besides the format?

Actually the best thing in the blu-ray set has been the deleted scenes and outtakes. I've seen the movies many times so to see an alternate take of a scene you know by heart is really interesting.
