My take on this, is probably more due to changing viewing habits and technology improvements.

Its one thing to watch A New Hope on a 15" TV with a 4:3 aspect, and quite another on a 60" 16:9 aspect TV with a sound bar (or 5.1 speaker setup)

There's really no reason to go to a movie with what we have at home, and given how people seem less polite/considerate in theaters. I'd rather pay a king's ransom to take my family to the movies.
I saw an advertisement for TV’s earlier (forgot the brand). They started at 48” and went up to 80”. That’s just obscene! It’s like the cinema is in your lounge.

Was that about $8K? I almost think $10K for the XT, but that still sounds ridiculous.

I guess that would depend on the memory configuration (256K/640K). Later on there was an add in PCI card (Zuckerboard) so you could get up to 1 MB of memory.

I forget what I paid, there's been too many years since that purchase. I'm like 99% sure I did not pay $10,000 dollars. I had just graduated the year before and I was working a basic office job - there was no way I would be willing to drop 10,000 dollars. I think the price was closer to the 2 to 3k range then the 8 to 10k range. Again this was eons ago, and I have long forgotten the price.

Yeah, you are right, I misremembered.

Creative Computing that year named the PC the best desktop computer between $2,000 and $4,000, praising its vast hardware and software selection, manufacturer support, and resale value.
