Steam for Mac Now Live, Portal is Free Until May 24th

If you dont plan on using steam to its fullest (achievements / social features) its a pointless step, but soon enough youll see how great it is.

ALSO: Steam failed to extract package after the update...awesome. Why?

Didn't have this problem; but downloading Portal is definitely slow given the massive server overload...

I am going to play Portal for an hour or so, then go back to SC2. I was originally going to spend the night playing TF2 ... but since that's out the window, back to SC2 it will be

Nice! A free, high-quality game. Can't complain about that!

Yep can't DL Portal getting hammered, did pick up Torchlight, for $9.99 great game I previously had the Demo. Plays great on my CD2 2.53 mini. At full crank graphics Although its not a demanding game... still if they can make games like Battlefield 2 look the way they do on 5 year old Xbox 360 tech, I don't see why it would'nt be ok on a mac.

In the settings you can switch download regions. Might get better speeds from a different server. Mine's downloading at full speed..
Super excited to play Portal again though. I usually play it once a year, this time it'll be in OSX

I wasn't planning on downloading Steam, but free Portal made it interesting, so I'm trying it out. Or rather, trying to. We'll see if it works tomorrow.
