Yes Yes and No!!!!!!!

Yes this is exactly what the iOS controller should be and yes to Steel Series! Big No on the price. I somehow think they will have to revise that for any kind of sales though. Its blatant that they are taking advantage here.

It's not that simple. These companies have small production runs and so require bigger margins to cover those costs. These will never be as cheap as console controllers until the volume is as high, and it wouldn't surprise me if only a few thousand iOS controllers have been sold so far.

Apple needs to release an official controller that works across iOS and OS X. Getting tired of my PS3 controller being a gamble whether it will work or not with a new game.

They have a macbook runnin IOS 7?
Worst advertising ever...

Ha! I thought I was the only one who noticed that. In their defense, it's marketing for the masses. All they (the masses) really see is this :apple: and they assume it's right.

On topic: I don't understand the tiny sizes of these controllers. Seems more form over function bs. If the objective is to have the user spend more time with the game thus making development of quality games more attractive, tiny controllers ain't gonna help. 5-10 minutes with this, okay I get it. A "gaming session" with this... can you spell karpull tunal? <- that's just wrong.

edit: As some have pointed out, not an MBA. iPad on the landscape.

When will companies understand nobody wants wireless game controllers for their iPhones and iPads.

I want a wireless game controller for my iPad. On-screen controls are a pain.

App's on an iOS ATV or type media device included, or evolved from an Apple TV set, is a 'When', rather than as 'If'.

I used to think so, but I have been waiting for this since the first-gen ATV (2007) and it still hasn't happened.

Why does it have pressure sensitive buttons? Why does it cost a hundred bucks? If it was like 39.99 I would consider for some games.

Hey, I would buy it at that price. If you want a great controller for your iOS, and this one fits the bill well, you'll pay what the maker wants for it...they need to make their profit.

Apple spec lists pressure sensitive buttons on the face, so they are probably required for certification. It's not unusual. The PS3 and original xbox had them too.
This controller to so close to what I want. It just needs a clip to hold my phone.

Now only if someone could convince Nintendo to release some of their classic games.

So...That's not...an...iPad? Is there some sarcasm in these comments?

Don't know about you, but I've never seen a MacBook with the apple logo on its side...

Not sarcasm perhaps, but a lot of idiocy and ignorance in the rush to post negative comments (quite a common affliction on this site).

Still not convinced a wireless controller is what I personally want, though I know lots of people do, but I am happy to see another controller being released which hopefully indicates more to come (in all flavours and configurations to meet all our various requirements in a controller).

Just checked the Touch Arcade site and the list of games currently supporting the controllers is over 50 (and growing) - this whole iOS7 game controller thing is taking off perhaps slower than I thought, but it's still early days and I'd really like to see it become a much bigger thing, if only to bring the price of these controllers down a bit (as is the number one, and valid, complaint in this thread).

This seems lame without apps on the AppleTV.

Do they seriously expect two people to sit in front of an ipad for hours playing games? Not going to happen.

Yeah really. Really wanting something to happening with Apple TV (or a future television set) where gaming is a viable option!

Same here, I have 4 Logitech F710 Wireless Gamepads and I love them for playing old games on the computer. On the rare occasion when my brothers are at my house we fire up the emulator and play old Nintendo games. $99 is a little high for these iOS controllers though.

Okay, so this is $99 without the extended battery. How? Third party 360/PS3 controllers are cheaper than the standard counterparts at ~ $30, yet this is nearly triple that in terms of cost? How much does the MFI program cost to join?

I know the market is smaller - but they should be able to get down at least to the $60-70 range. At $99 the market will never grow in the first place.

Ultimately I think we need Apple to start pushing gaming on iOS - with gaming on Apple TV. Keep Apple TV at $99, include a bluetooth remote that has a touch sensor and accelerometer to get people started. Then people can use iOS devices as additional touch controllers, or buy the $49.99 official Apple gamepad. Roku gives out bluetooth controllers with accelerometers for $90, Apple should be able to do it with no issue.

I want one but wouldn't pay more than $30.

This. I don't see why a game controller needs to be $100. I don't want a case or a battery pack to charge my phone. Just make a bluetooth controller, add in Apple's MFi licensing fees, and sell it. It's a shame that can't be done for less than $99.

Ign has one and said it has four shoulder buttons. I'm pretty sure it has to according to apples rules. It's either the moga design or the logitech design. This leans more towards moga

Just noted that there isn't any shoulder buttons!!!! Arrrrrghhhh! It looked too good to be true!

Am I the only one surprised that there's no shoulder triggers?

Also, I'd like an option to hook up my iPhone to it... You need two hands to hold the controller, then an extra one to hold the iPhone...

No shoulder buttons and price kills it for me unfortunately.

Are all of you seriously that lazy?

It has 4 shoulder mounted buttons. Here's a revolutionary thought---check out their website and spend a few seconds looking at the specs. Jeez...

If only there was a way to wirelessly send the iPad's screen to the AppleTV...
