Yes Yes and No!!!!!!!

Yes this is exactly what the iOS controller should be and yes to Steel Series! Big No on the price. I somehow think they will have to revise that for any kind of sales though. Its blatant that they are taking advantage here.

Just noted that there isn't any shoulder buttons!!!! Arrrrrghhhh! It looked too good to be true!

It has L1/L2 & R1/R2. Too pricey though, but hopefully it will drop quickly because this is the best looking MFi controller to come out yet.

I just looked up this controller and saw a couple of hands-on footage. It looks nice. I still wanna see Asphalt 8 and San Andreas before I'm sold on it.

neat, little red lights..

I wouldn't use such a thing....

I mean you buy a phone to hold and use... why would you want to convert it into an small arcade machine ?

Use an bigger xbox for that, or just don't use a touch phone... Simple.

Plus, the controllers are only compatible with a "select" number game the manufacture provides for...

There's ya answer right there.... While good device, lack of support for ALL games (probably fighting or racing specific at first), even then, then it will be limited at a whole.

Did i mention it was a good device..?

Can't wait to get get this but I think I'll wait for it to show up on Amazon first. It may be cheaper there. Also, I want the white color model, and it's not available for pre-order on their site.

I got really excited at this as I scrolled past it. Then I noticed the lack of shoulder buttons...and the price... There's so many good, hardcore games on the app store that would really take advantage of my iPad's large screen and horsepower. But they require me to constantly hold my 1.5 pound device and really awkward hand positioning. But I would gladly welcome them if I had a decent controller. Oh well. :(

It has L1/L2 and R1/R2 buttons - they're placed differently than we're used to, but they're there (as mentioned in the Touch Arcade review).

There aren't any MFi controllers that will have no shoulder buttons. They will all have either 2 or 4, it's part of the certification.

It looks like another bluetooth pad has been announced "signal", although details are scarce for now:

http://toucharcade.com/2014/01/07/signal-reveals-new-ios-7-bluetooth-game-controller-at-ces/

Also, I did a Facebook post to SteelSeries wall, they seam in indicate anything running IOS 7 is supported, then repost the specs not including the iPad 2/3/iphone 4/4S........

Question:
I was interested in your iOS controller that was announced today, but I noticed that it didn't list the iPad 3rd gen as compatible, despite being iOS7 & Bluetooth 4.0 compatible. Was it an oversight, or does it not actually work on the iPad 3 for some reason? Thanks.

SteelSeries Hi Richard, as long as it is iOS7 it will work, because the controller scheme that it's using is intrinsic to the OS. Here's what we write on our product page:

"iOS 7 or Later Plus the Following:
-iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5
-iPad Mini, iPad Air, iPad 4th Gen
-iPod Touch (5th Generation)"

But the problem...

Unfortunately, Signal is going with the same crazy $99.99 price point for the RP One that all iOS controllers are stuck with (Further proving my theory that it's not controllers manufacturers setting these prices!)

I hope to god it isn't Apple driving up the prices of these controllers through steep licensing costs. If anything could kill the potential future of good, high quality iOS gaming, it's charging far too much for it without getting anything in return.

The Stratus and now the Single, they look like good controllers. But why do they cost twice as much as a PS3/360 controller? It's ridiculous.

When will companies understand nobody wants wireless game controllers for their iPhones and iPads. It's stupid. And at this pricetag..... :D :D :D :D

Drop it to $39 and you have a deal.

All iOS games need to offer gamepad support. One day it will work for Apple Tv, iPad, iPhone and Macs.

I just want to play NBA Jam with a controller. Can we make this happen!

These are list prices you know.

they must be stupid thinking these prices are going to fly. It costs twice as much as a Dualshock 4 controller

And yes - I do believe there is a market for this. Sooner or later developers will integrate the controllers on blockbusters like gta... and then one day there will be a tipping point where you have to integrate it in order to keep your game relevant

Oh okay. Sorry, I must've overlooked that. Then all that's left is a price drop and then this might be a serious contender for me.

Forget about shoulder buttons or the ridiculous price. I was gifted the powershell for Christmas and returned it because there simply aren't many games designed to work with the controller. Certainly not enough to justify the $100 price tag.
