Maybe Apple and their users will take gaming seriously one day. Nope.

Like building in support for a game controller?

----------

The article says it's available for pre-order but I can't find the link to do that on the site. Anyone see it?

I can't wait for this. I travel a lot and would definitely get $99 of value out of this. I'm sure the price will drop over time and the number of supported games is growing pretty quickly, considering that the controllers have only existed for, what, four weeks now?

If only there was a way to wirelessly send the iPad's screen to the AppleTV...

Have you ever tried gaming over AirPlay? If you're not looking at your phone/iPad screen and relying only on what you see on the TV, there is sufficient lag to make gaming less than enjoyable and often unplayable, depending on the game.

Being able to use the controller with games playing directly on the Apple TV would likely be a far smoother experience.

Sega!!! Are you listening??? We need controller support for Sonic and all of your other games. Sonic 4, E1 is impossible to beat with the on-screen controls.

Where are the game controllers for mac osx

I mean, yeah,. I dig the idea of having physical buttons to play games on my iOS device...but WHERE RE THE DNAG CONTROLLERS FOR MAC OSX.

We've had games available on the MAC APP STORE since it came out...but I can only use my keyboard and mouse?

I've seen work arounds with XBOX 360 controllers and PS3 controllers...but who's gonna make a dedicated MAC OSX controller?

HAS anyone made one?

You've haven't seen one because there's no demand. Macs have a small portion of the computer market and next to nobody is buying a Mac for gaming.

And I use a wired Xbox 360 controller for the little bit of gaming I do on my Mac--wouldn't call having to install one piece of software a 'workaround'. Controller works great.

I may be wrong but I'm sure I read a review last night that said it uses bluetooth 2.1. I hope not and I hope u can use this while charging it up because it will be needed.

This seems lame without apps on the AppleTV.

Do they seriously expect two people to sit in front of an ipad for hours playing games? Not going to happen.

Back when I had my iPad jailbroken, I'd get a bunch of friends together to play old arcade games on it all the time using MAME and some classic Wiimote controllers.

It was geeky as hell, but it happened. And it was awesome. I'm still the undisputed king of Wizard of Wor and Dig Dug.

Completely unnecessary; just buy any one of the controllers that already exist. Any USB gamepad will work fine. (Except for a few poorly-programmed games that only work with an XBox360 controller.) For games that don't have built-in gamepad support, you can also get third-party utilities such as Controllermate.

The Logitech F310 and F710 (wireless) controllers have a switch that allows you to toggle between XInpunt (MS/Xbox 360) and DirectInput (older protocol). The latter is supported by many titles in OS X and more old-school games in Windows. It's probably as close to a universal PC controller as you're going to find.

Preordered.

And LOL at Apple enthusiasts complaining about another company's pricing.

Not sure about that price...!

For an extra $80, I think it would make more sense to invest in a PS Vita with a bundled AAA game. The game library consists of more quality titles and you wouldn't look as weird playing on the go. But I am quite interested in the at home gaming possibilities with a controller, iPhone/AppleTV and a television.

When will companies understand nobody wants wireless game controllers for their iPhones and iPads. It's stupid. And at this pricetag..... :D :D :D :D

omg...so nuts. go read the other threads about the plug-in controllers and note all the whiners complaining they arent wireless. then compare that to your complaining that this one is wireless. note the dilemma.

thus multiple products for different people & preferences.

How much?

Seriously? Unless it has another function like picking winning lottery numbers, they can keep it for $99. Thats crazy

It is right there in the specs. So 99.99 USD and no bt4.0 to save energy...

Btw, there is not much of a difference between using these kind of game controllers with an iPad, iPod Touch, iPhone or AppleTV since you can connect all of them to a big screen/tv.

I am really curious why they don't list the iPad 3rd gen, just iPad Air & 4th gen. The 3rd gen has bluetooth 4.0. Maybe it is an error, or maybe it's the same reason airdrop isn't supported either.
