Just curious what people need a new CPU/SOC for. What do you want to do with your phone that you won’t be able to do because the CPU/SOC doesn’t have a a higher number in the marketing name?

It's about crapping on your dead father's legacy that paid for your lifestyle and the name alone got her into modeling as she is no model. If she was so unhappy with the product offering, talk with Tim and team behind the scenes versus doing a public "look at me" attention move. I'd put money that someone near her manipulated her to post that tweet because her last name would make it newsworthy and ironic.
Why do we need to disqualify her assessment because of Steve Jobs being her father? Never mind his history, its been almost 12 years since his death, that would make her only 13 when that occurred. It's likely the comment was retracted because of the social media ramification but sounds like it was a honest opinion. There are certainly enough forum comments here that agree to that point.

The 24-year-old world-class equestrian and Stanford graduate traded Silicon Valley for New York City in the fall of 2021 after making her runway debut for Coperni in Paris. Jobs has since signed a deal to be a face of Louis Vuitton and will star in a digital campaign later this year.

I’m not saying her comment is wrong. We all know the annual upgrades these days are a yawn fest. Her behavior was wrong IMHO. Would you do that to your deceased father if you were in the same boat?

That depends on the family culture and siblings self respect/independence from the parents. I think her mother was a exceptionally intelligent independent thinking role model, and according to the linked article Eve Jobs was the apple that fell closest to the tree referring to Steve Jobs, with her being described as a "strong-willed, funny firecracker". So I would be more speculative if her opinion of the event was how Steve Jobs would have reacted to it.

To me upgrading every year stopped making sense since the 4/4S transition. I’m surprised in 2022 there are so many people who still expect to do that. Try holding on to your phones for four or five years, then upgrading to a non-pro model will start making sense.

Does the non-pro model actually have any worthwhile upgrades though? If I'm somewhere that cellular can't reach, the world is probably over.
Coming from an iPhone 13? There’s still some there but not as much. Coming from a 12 or earlier? Yes definitely there’s strong reasons to upgrade.

this is the feeling...iphone 14 should start $699 since its an 90% iphone 13 and discontinue the 13
Its first time that Apple dont upgrade SoC with a brand new one
Whats next? Apple will change only the colours and ask the same starting price as the last gen ?!
Careful how you vote the future with your wallets

Yeah 99% of the population don’t care about the SoC.

Apple is so far ahead of everyone else in the mobile game computing performance wise that it really doesn’t matter.

These millennials. Bless their hearts. If you don't make something look radically different on the outside they don't know anything has changed! I'm a member of Generation X who grew up in a household with a rotary landline phone on the wall (with a 25 foot coiled cord). If Apple wants to sell me an iPhone 14 Pro that can freakin' communicate with satellites for free I'm here for it.

Apple of course has a roadmap of probably 5 to 10 years in the future mapped out for the iPhone releases. They offer 24 month financing, meaning they do not expect 80% of the public to upgrade every year. I have a 13 Pro, but when I looked at the features that were included in the iPhone 14 Pro, I feel I will wait for the 15. This is a year similar to when the iPhone 6s was released ..... People who had the iPhone 6 probably were less than 20% who upgraded the 6S.... And people who have the iPhone 12 could make a lot more of a case for upgrading to the 14 then iPhone 13 pro users like myself. My point is that making a giant technological leap every year is not sustainable for almost any company. Maybe some of the android users can enlighten me, and I mean that seriously because I really don't follow their product line that closely, does Samsung or Google release a new phone each year that is so compelling compared to the year before that it is a must have?

I would argue that who her father is has no bearing on the value of her opinion, especially when it comes to this. And you know what they say about opinions…
Yes of course. Cause things like heredity, genetic traits, talents, skills or other notable biological distinctions passed down through family lineage due to well you know genetics…. They have absolutely nothing to do with a persons potential or existing abilities.

Everyone gets the same gold star for being special. Now go have some of that pudding mommy made for you. LOL

I guess she’s not invested in the family business. ;)

But seriously, since when is the iPhone a yearly upgrade type of device?

I mean, fans will do what they will, but I’ll venture to say most of us are on a 2-3 year cycle.

The new features will add up nicely by then. And the bugs will be worked out.

I don’t know why she deleted it. She wasn’t wrong.
Very likely because she too has an interest in Apple succeeding and that post will negatively impact investor confidence.

Frankly, many of the decisions Apple has made as of late should be enough to dissuade investor confidence. But what eve’s

And I told you, the original iPhone and iPhone 3G had the exact same processor, and ram, and camera, and display.
So yes, they have done it before. Your original statement was incorrect.
The iPhone 3G was RADICALLY different in design from the original iPhone. Did you even own those two devices? Seriously a very bad example.

Remember the curved black plastic back???

She's not wrong. I'm sure if she had a few drinks she'd open up about how disgusted she is with Apple's capital-driven leadership. That was the difference between Steve and Tim - Steve was a visionary who didn't do it for the money. Tim is 100% about his net worth, nothing else. Steve might have been temperamental and hard to work with, but he was a better person, plain and simple.
Better person might be debatable. But better leader for Apple. No question Steve Jobs was a better leader for Apple. Tim Cook is the equivalent of having turned on autopilot in “most” commercial aircraft. It can maintain a heading and maybe even altitude but it’s not at all effective or capable at takeoffs or landings. Which is clearly what is eventually needed to introduce new products and retire old ones.

Yup. I don't recall iPhones making huge jumps in features during Job's time. Well, except for "unique" antenna designs requiring phone holding lessons. And wasn't it Steve who insisted on keeping the iPhone small? As amazing a visionary as Steve was, he stubbornly managed a few blunders along the way.
Wow. Did everyone just completely lose their minds? EVERY YEAR for the past 14 years the top end models have had significant improvements in CPU and eventually in GPU performance. This is frankly standard practice in any electronics setting.

This is the first time where a major product is released with an almost total flatline on core hardware architecture performance.

It’s literally a change that could have been made as an iPhone 13 “refresh”.

I’ve seen more significant changes get slipped into hardware refreshes of products maintaining the same price point and even model numbers as their older counterparts just to keep pace with technology and supply chain availability. Usually those changes were met positives.

This is the first time there is an absolute dead stop in not only performance but literally using the same damn chip and technology in the SOC as that of almost 2 years ago now???

Even if Apple was well ahead of the curve with their processor performance they can’t just sit on their rear ends and do this one year to the next.

I frankly believe we are seeing a genuine plateau forming in both supply chain and innovation.

The Dynamic Island is where your cash is shuffled as the next shell game is laid out on the street corner. LOL
