Following Apple's "Far out" event that included the launch of the updated iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, Steve Jobs' daughter Eve Jobs took to her Instagram to share a meme mocking the new iPhones as basically unchanged compared to last year's iPhone 13.

The meme is a popular one showing a man holding up a gifted shirt identical to one he's already wearing. Jobs captioned the meme with "Me upgrading from ‌iPhone 13‌ to ‌iPhone 14‌ after Apple's announcement today," sharing it with her nearly half a million followers yesterday before deleting it.

The meme is sparked by customers' belief that the new iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus feature FEW changes compared to the iPhone 13 and do not represent a worthwhile upgrade. The 6.1-inch iPhone 14 and the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus feature the same chip found in the iPhone 13 Pro, which comes with an additional GPU-core compared to the standard iPhone 13 models.

Other than a slight boost in performance, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus benefit from new camera features, including autofocus on the front-facing camera and improved low-light performance. On the iPhone 14 Plus, thanks to the larger size, customers will get the best battery life ever in any iPhone.

The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus will be available for pre-order on Friday, September 9, and the iPhone 14 will be available next week, Friday, September 16. The larger iPhone 14 Plus will begin arriving to customers on Friday, October 7.

I just browed the site to get a lowdown on the new iPhone features.

And the first paragraph in the first article you come to on it is about the colour of the box it comes in.

I think the fact that it is “boring” to a lot of people actually speaks to how well refined the whole system has become. Its boringly exactly what it needs to be, upgrading in some areas where improvements can still be had.

She is right. Apple blowing smoke up our backsides while pretending they are releasing innovative devices is getting really old. Satellite connectivity is neither innovative nor new, and devices that do a much better job of it have been around for years. Claiming a tiny camera is as great as they claim it is is just pure science fiction. If the fan club wants to believe their rubbish, then that is their mistake to make. If Apple wants to impress me again, then let them go on a major bug squashing campaign. The emperor needs new clothes, not smoke up the backside…

That meme is absolutely correct. I am apple fan and I never owned android phone in my life till last week. I do have 2 13 pro max and wanted to try surface duo which I bought on good sale. Wow..I want apple to be like that creative and give users wow factor devices. I am disappointed with airpods pro 2nd gen updates also. But my first gen airpods pro is still working perfectly fine so no need to update.

I never experienced operating system related issues with apple but with android, it is a big mess. Every different android phone from other vendor has their own versions and flavors and there is no consistency. It is anti user friendly. If android find solution to this problem, that would be welcome. But going forward, I definitely want try different unique devices rather than sticking with routine and bore apple iphones.

Let’s put this in perspective for you. If your deceased father created a Donut Enterprise and under new leadership they still compensated the founding family, would you hop on Twitter and talk smack about the new donuts they are selling? Would you knowingly try to hurt your father’s business and encourage consumers to go elsewhere?
Donuts is what Cook is selling. Jobs created a Sushi customer driven gem.
Would you try to pretend there is no deterioration or push for a better outcome being your father the creator?

Yes, very bad experience. Google released android 13 but duo still has v11 and no clue when will these devices get next upgrade. As long as competitors are in this mess, apple can survive with monotonous designs.

14 pro has some cool new stuff over 13 pro. But the regular 13 —> regular 14 is one of the smallest updates ever, and that comes after 12 —> 13 also being very minor.

I'm thinking about upgrading from SE that has about four hours of battery life to 14 Pro. That would be better than a plaid shirt, right? I guess? Or should I wait until next year's phone?
I went from SE (I tried battery self-repair and broke it) to 11Pro a couple years ago. The Pro is a great cam/phone. Just be ready for considerably more bulk and weight.

For me it’s a nice upgrade because I have an iPhone 12 Pro currently.

Another “relative” that is only known due to the success of a family member. Eve who? - oh, Steve Job’s daughter. Whatever.

And, considering her “claim to fame” (aside from being born to Steve), is modeling and being a “social media star” (again, thanks Dad) - you would think that she would be all over the major camera upgrade.

Doesn’t her mother own $$$ billions in Apple shares? Maybe she doesn’t understand that she’s advocating against her own self interest.
Or maybe she has more than enough $$$ to not give a rats ass how a meme is going to "affect her own self interest."

Just curious, Is the non upgraded, same as last year chip, also Apple helping the environment, or is that just the charger?

Jony did design work, and nobody that I know of is complaining about the design of the base iPhone 14. Just the lack of upgrades to it, something he wouldn't have really worked on anyway. People are putting Jony on a pedestal here lately and giving him credit for things he didn't even work on.
I don’t recall putting anyone on a pedestal in my comment, but your first sentence seems to. The comment was pointed more towards the context of Jony being displeased with the post-Steve, revenue-first Apple that put an end to the user-centric spirit that Steve and Jony had cultivated during the renaissance. Apple was iterative during the SJ/JI era too, so I’m not even commenting on the subject matter of her post in the slightest, more just the overall sentiment.

That’s not how it works in the real world. A responsible homeowner, no matter how wealthy, doesn’t trash his own home because he “doesn’t give a rats ass.” If Eve owns Apple shares, it would be foolish for her to bite her gift horse in the mouth. On top of that, it’s disrespectful to her mother, who is presumably the current source of her wealth.

She comes across as an ungrateful brat.
