So, you mean, if I want to sync music to that RIDICULOUS-LOOKING new NANO, I have to click on THIS icon?? That's just sad...

It's so easy to change almost everything they made in the new iTunes back to what it was that I'm not sure why people are complaining (only on Macs, not sure for Windows users). It took me under five minutes after following these instructions.

To switch the iTunes icon back: http://chrismillsinpetersfield.word...0-icon-back-to-the-itunes-9-varient-mac-os-x/

To get rid of all of that grey and get the colours back:

http://appletoolbox.com/2010/09/hack-returns-color-to-gray-itunes-10/

Lastly, to switch the traffic lights so that they line up properly again enter the following command in Terminal:

defaults write com.apple.iTunes full-window -1

There you go.

i like the new logo, but there should be more colour in the menus in itunes...

The Icon is Brilliant!!

It's easier to distinguish from the other icons in the dock and it is making a BOLD statement about the future of music CD's!!

Awesome!! :D

It's a step back imo.
I dont think it is, a step back would be removing the image of the CD and putting a cassette lol
It's a bloody icon, get over it.
Is just not an icon, it became a trademark IMO
MacRumors should run a poll. :)
+1 that would be fun
It's about time people stop emailing Steve Jobs over stupid crap like this.
lol I agree, is not like they are going to change it or something

The icon could-a looked better, honestly.
I totally agree

why not put an ipod instead of the CD...
but i agree it looks like some one was just fooling around in illustrator
+1
I was excited when he announced there would be a new icon, but was instantly dissapointed at what I saw. "amaturish" seems like a good word for it.

I won't lose any sleep over it though.
same here lol

Boom.
Wow, that looks way better than what steve presented IMO

Oh please don't tell me that top one is the new one. It's ugly, plain, it looks like some one didn't put any thought at all into how to design it, and the old one with the tick marks was easier to get a grasp at a glance of how full your device was.
I agree, that new bar does suck

Well, I am a senior graphic designer for about 30 years and all I have to say is....
Really? Seriously? People are actually upset by this?

It's like being upset that McDonalds changing the pickle icon on the burger box. It doesn't matter.

is more like changing the color of the boxes where they deliver the bigmacs lol :D;):p:rolleyes:

Its very easy to change it back to the old icon for everyone that doesn't like the new one. i for one could care less.

has any commented on the close, minimize color button things not sure what there called. i don't like the vertical instead of horizontal :D

What's with all the "it's just an icon" people? First you're snubbing at Windows Vista's interface (which I agree, looked ugly) and now that Apple has designed the worst looking logo ever, it's not important anymore? Typical.

I for one am shocked that Steve would disagree, I figured he hated it too.....

Really it's just an icon, I find the change in the x + - to be more irritating than anything else!!!

I can't believe people are getting worked up like this over a ******* logo, get over it. Seriously, are there not more important things in life than a freaking logo?! If it offends you to look at it, remove it from your dock, Apple aren't going to change it based on a few nerds whinging about it. Jeez....

It's not a big deal, but the icon does suck, but not because it's a crap icon, but that it just doesnt look/feel like most of the icons in Mac OS X, so it sticks out like a sore thumb in my dock, and that is slightly annoying, important? No, but could be better.

What's more annoying is the changes in iTunes itself, the loss of colour in both the icons in the sidebar area and the Preferences is a pain.

As for people saying Tunes should be removed from the name, not so, you can "tune" into movies, tv shows, podcasts as well, not just music.

The thing is the one button everyone uses (X) is in the same exact position...

Thanks but the color hack didn't work for me on my Intel iMac =\

If it were just.... then why is there a beamed note still in the new icon, as surely musical notes are never written nowadays.
Que?

Of which musical world do you refer?

i like the icon.
It's Clean, simple to the point.

I miss the colors in the itunes menus tho :(

Everything looks very bland. I miss the vibrant rich colors in itunes.
Now that the menu bars are understated, this dramatically allows the content, i.e. album art, movies, apps, etc. to appear to be much more vibrant.

Comparing both versions, side by side, on two iMacs, iTunes 10 seems much more elegant, refined, and vivid - not to mention much more responsive and speedier, overall.

The pale aqua background on the side menu creates an interplay of subtle color variations within and around the grey-scaled side-bar icons - a side by side comparison makes the iTunes 9 layout seem a bit Fisher Pricey.

The new dock icon has taken some getting used to, although, next to the iChat icon, it actually looks half-way decent.

I would have preferred a more 3-D innovative icon design, with a touch more glass.

After this mixed reception, we're sure to see some more refinements/adjustments made to the interface, in the near future.

This is a step in the right direction, IMO.

First rule of designing logos/icons is that it has to scale down cleanly. A designer of 20 years should know this at an intuitive level. If you took out the junk in the background it would be ok, but nothing spectacular.

Well, that means the Safari icon was designed by an amateur. The directions on the compass do not scale well. Same with the Dashboard icon. Hell, Apple uses a ton of icons that have little details in them you can only see when zoomed in. You're talking out of your ass.

Could this be a ploy to take our minds away from the hugely disappointing new AppleTV?

Does someone need a hug?

Steve Jobbs is right - I also disagree. It's an icon, get over it guys - change is good.

BUT - the icon above does look tonnes better than the one Apple have decided upon.

Whenever I mess with any of the rsrc files within the app itself, I always have to allow iTunes to connect to the Internet, even if I change the app icon with CandyBar. As soon I revert everything back to the default, there are no problems at all.

Am I the only one having this problem?
