I didn't like it at first and thought it was ugly but I like it now :) I think it looks great on the dock!

Tbh I've never really liked the idea of having a cd in the logo. I know iTunes started out for ripping CDs onto the computer for your iPod but since the iTunes store took off and more and more people have gone to downloads I'm glad they changed it.

I agree with Steve that I disagree with the negative thoughts but hey not everyone will like it, but I think apple did the right thing :)

The new iTunes icon rocks. Definitely more attractive than the old one. Yes it is a change, but the haters will get used to it after a month.

I find the desaturated is nice because it draws more focus to the album art and content.

All around I like the new iTunes.

No. I'm a graphic designer and this icon sucks. It's worse than the Creative Suite icons, and those are terrible too. I expect way more from Apple than a glossy circle with a music note in it.

Okay - lets see some samples of what you suggest?

I think it's ugly because it doesn't match with the Safari, Mail, Calendar, and all the other Mac icons I have on my dock.

It totally doesn't. Looks great next to Quicktime X. I prefer a darker saturation of blues; it's more pleasing and exciting on the eye. Just get over it.

Business must be slow, if you're asphyxiated on a simple little icon. It looks good.

As a designer, I feel the new icon looks very flat and 'ordinary'. I'd rather have seen an icon similar to the iTunes store icon on the iPhone - or maybe something that matches the aluminum uni-body style that is on every mac now. It just feels very amateur, although I also believe that any icon/logo can become widely accepted if you stand by it with confidence.

They should have rebranded it iMedia. iTunes is quite an inaccurate name nowadays.

lol - if they did that can you imagine all the naysayers that would go nuts... they are going crazy over an icon change a name change might send them to their graves... lol

iTunes is one of the best consumer applications* ever, it needs a great icon.

My problem with this icon is the matte finish on the staff note. Fix this, the icon would look completely different / better imo.

Icon bothering you that much? Just switch it back to the old one. Get Info on the old app, click the top left mini icon, press command+c, get info on the new app, click the top left mini icon, press command+p. Travel back in time to dated looking icons.

If anything, I think this is a sign of things to come. Looks like 10.7 will have a new GUI with glossy looking icons. Not a bad thing in my opinion. Change may be scary at times but even terrifying new glossy icons won't hurt you.

If you look carefully with your special eyes, you might be able to see your own reflection in this new logo.

Since few people are recording to CD these days, the CD as part of the icon is outdated.

I don't have a problem with and if you do just change it to the old one you can find it easy with your good friend Google.

Apparently it's the principle behind the logo change.... haha.

Bring on the the new logos for all applications. I love change!

The fact that people are actually complaining about a logo is just sad to me. It's a freaking logo. I guess this really proves that some of those Mac user stereotypes about people caring more about 'pretty' than 'function' is actually pretty accurate.

Move along people.

I like it. The CD was tired, and this new logo keeps the circle theme with the music notes while getting rid of the CD. What would you suggest? A small picture of an iPod?
