...As with all other films "based on a true story"...
I think 'inspired by' might be more accurate than 'based on', and even then... not very much. Should be on Netflix soon enough, where it'll have a bigger audience. I'm glad most of the press coverage, even if positive, points out that it has little to do with his actual life events. Saves us from a disappointing $10 theatre ticket.

This is often called a "highbrow audience" where it fails to capture the masses as it is too much of a drama with it the standard protagonist / antagonist storyline.

I expect this to do very well in the DVD and streaming market and pebbly end of as a cult movie amongst the Apple hardcore. Do not expect a sequel for five to ten years.

Since most of the people that knew Steve Jobs personally criticized the movie, I'm not sure if it really will become such a "cult movie".

I wouldn't go to the movies to watch something like this movie. I'll probably rent it once it's available on iTunes or something

This film has been in trouble from the start though with dubious casting, a self righteous script writer and the majority of people who knew Steve saying it was crap.

The only person who endorsed it was Woz and he got a fat paycheck from them for his consultancy. The problem is this is Hollywood they have no interest in just telling the story of the man, it has to be dramatic and over the top. Tim nailed it as being opportunistic and I for one have no interest in this.

This a classic, "You hate it. You laughed at it. You bought it." style marketing. It will sell well on the post-release market.

What did they expect? I loved the man the company and their products but people need to just let the man rest in peace. Stop trying to make film after film about the man and give it a rest.
This is up there with other industrialist movies of the likes telling the stories of George Westhinghouse, Tom Edison and Henry Ford.

I haven't seen any. Personally I think writing books about these people is enough. Not everyone wants their life to be turned into a movie. What about Jobs wife and children. How do you think they feel that everyone wants to make a movie out of the man and make a buck?

People didn't really think it was going to be a big hit... did they?

apparently it opened worse than "Jobs" with Kutcher. Considering the crew behind this movie, I would have thought that they might do well, but it seems that the market presence of Apple is no further connected to Steve Jobs anymore.

This movie has a limited audience. There ARE people out there who have no idea who Steve Jobs even is. I only found out who he was when I got my first iPhone and Mac in 2007.

I am one who is not interested in seeing movie about him, not even when it comes to TV.

On a side note, the writers of "Steve Jobs" can console themselves with the knowledge that they made more money than that other fantasy "Truth".

i'll wait for it to be on Netflix (apparently like most other people judging from its box office :) )
