What a great visionary. He will be truly missed. My thoughts go out to his kids and family. I hope that the last few weeks he was not in pain and did not suffer. Rest in peace Steve. Thanks for showing us what true vision looks like and giving us the tools to get there.

Thank you for everything Mr. Jobs. You will always be remembered. RIP.

My MacBook Pro from 2008 also refuses to start since today. Coincidence ?

You will be missed Steve !

Mine's okay. But I bet it did know :(.

And just want to say re the LONG post a couple of pages back now, really enjoyed that read, thanks. I agree that it is incredible and natural that these forums fill up with such an event. It is the way we roll now, and you know one man who had a lot to do with that fact.

In fact that suddenly reminds me of the end screen to Marathon Infinity - I always found it quite chilling, and just reading it again, perhaps not all of it fits but, the very end: "I know who you are. You are destiny." just does, for me.

Two days ago i tought about him and his CEO left decision.
I tought that was suspicious of some bad things.

Today i'm speechless.

R.I.P. Steve, you will be missed. photo is @ our faculty, industrial design where we all love :apple:

What an immensely sad loss for both the tech world that loved him and for the countless millions to whom he made that world accessible. With his tirelessly innovative genius, Steve showed us what it meant to live; to take up with our own two hands the process of bringing ideas from the realm of the potential into the realm of brilliant reality. He was the superman from whom all ideals can be derived; the archetype from whom all forms may be derived. He was OUR Einstein, OUR Bell, and our hope for a brighter tomorrow. The greatest tribute we can pay to his legacy is a dogged determination to live free from the confines of "ought" and "should" and devoted to the causes of "can" and "will.". These focal points were the bread and butter of a man who revolutionized the world. Steve, you will be greatly missed.

'Even death is not to be feared by one who has lived wisely.' - Gautama Buddha

Sad day indeed, but the best tribute to the man is the fact that his impact on the world is felt and celebrated by many who belong to different lands, countries, ethnicities, idiologies and beliefs. His brief presence on this world was a unifying element in a world that is more familiar with what keeps us apart.

Regardless of where or who a mourner happens to be, we all share in the grief of his departure from our world.

My heart felt condolences go to his family and loved ones, and to anyone who was touched by him.

I don't agree with all the things Apple have done and my next machine is probably going to be a home-built PC. But I still feel sad about this. Jobs, for better or worse, changing computing in his own vision.

No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new. Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now, you will gradually become the old and be cleared away. Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

Now these are words to live by.

A great man was lost but his ideas Will live forever!

Thank you Steve !

You had to fight many battles in your life and won many of them. Sadly that your last battle got lost too fast.

Your visions, creativity and skills brought us over decades many innovative tools. Tools we could used for work and just for fun. All of them always ahead of their times and different.

Your way of thinking was and is inspiring; but even if we try many of us will not reach your level of impact.

I'm sure you prepared your team at Apple very well so they can continue what you started and keep your sprit alive.

Rest in Peace

What the 2771 previous poster have said speaks volumes of what the world thinks of Steve.
He was much too young to leave this world, we will never know what he might have produced if he had been around for another 20 years or so.
He has touched so many peoples lives he will be greatly missed.
RIP Steve

Words would fail to express how devastated I personally―and the rest of Apple folks too―feel about this. This is terrible news, and it must have been even worse for Tim, Scott, and Phil yesterday at the keynote when they were supposed to announce something great and feel great about it, but at the same time I'm sure they couldn't avoid thinking about what was going on in Palo Alto at Steve's home.

Apple―and the world as a result―have lost an incredible person today, and that is truly sad. However, I am sure that all of us who are in some way related to the company will forever remember all the joy Steve brought into countless people's lives through all the products Apple has developed.

Rest in peace. I will miss you.
