RIP Steve

Today the world has lost the greatest visionary it has seen in a very long while, methinks.

People like Steve don't come around very often, though he clearly speaks about the path he walked. Steve, you've been a great inspiration to me... admittedly mostly in my work so far. Thank you for that. I wish we could share your strengths sooner than later. Then the world would be a better place.

My condolences to his family and friends. Today is a very sad day for a great many people around the world.

Apple will never be the same without Steve. Tim's a CEO, Steve was a visionary. (*)

RIP Steve

(*) but, hard as it may seem, I DO hope Tim turns out more than a CEO.

I've been a gadget enthusiast for years.

A little bit of my enthusiasm for technology died with him yesterday. I will never again get to experience the "journey" where he wanted to take us from his clear direction with technology. That clear vision with Apple will get lost over time.

Steve Jobs may not be God, but he sure had a better Second Coming than Jesus. A better redemption with a bitten apple than Adam & Eve.

At least he died seeing his company on top when 14 years ago, Apple was deader than Lazarus. The real Apple died in 1985 when he got fired. The current Apple is an evolution of NeXT.

The greatest loss is that he died so young. The loss is all the things he didn't think of yet, all lost, like tears in the rain.

Goodbye Steve
God bless

Steve Jobs (1955-2011) R.I.P.

You dared to dream BIG and we have all benefited from your creative genius. You have left the world a whole lot better than how you found it. From humble beginnings you proved that greatness is something that we can all possess, if we don't quit and never settle.

You have given us tools to make navigating this world easier. Who hasn't incorporated one of your inventions so seamlessly into their lives that they hardly remember what they did before they had an iPod, iPad, iPhone, iMac, MacBook etc? You placed home networking within our reach with Airport Express and Airport Extreme, all we had to do was have the courage to take the stuff out of the box and life began anew.

I wish to thank you for your dreams - because of them I can now have a few of my own. Each time I sit down at the keyboard of my iMac I will always think of you. My condolences to your wife and children for although we have lost a technology visionary, they have lost far greater - a husband and a Dad.

I send this thankfully from my iMac,
Rest in Peace in the iClouds hopefully from iHeaven!

Thanks Steve for showing me magical and revolutionary tech! It's sad and heartbreaking it ended this way, but now you can rest in the heavens above and see the impact that you had not only in technology but in our lives. I send this message from my iPad 2, the best tablet invented! I see your blood, sweat, and tears every time I look at an Apple product. Goodbye :(

 Forever!!!

This has hit me harder than I ever expected. The very first computer I ever used–at a very young age–was a Macintosh 128k, and he either directly or indirectly influenced a lot of things that would come much later in my life as well. Down to the way I use things phones, read books, listen to music.

Farewell Steve Jobs. You will be sorely missed.

R.I.P Steve. Never before have I felt like I lost someone that I had never met. However, it seems like a knew him personally just by using his products and watching the keynotes. You will be missed!

Reading the articles on USA Today, it blows me away at the level of disrespect I see in the comments section. How anyone could say they're glad, or happy that this man is gone. He was somebody's husband, somebody's father, and many people's friend. Is it really that difficult to show a shred of compassion or just not say anything at all?

Couldn't agree more!

Bitter and jealous windows/android fanboys will be bitter and jealous windows/android fanboys

Some of them have been respectful but some of them deserve to rot in hell

Sadly, some people believe that hating all things Apple is more important than having compassion for those who have lost a loved one or a role model. My heart goes out to his team at Apple, and especially to his wife and children.

RIP Steve. As a longtime Mac user the fruits of your vision, passion and innovation have enhanced my life and work for more than 25 years. Suffice to say that only a few people have had such an impact on such a global scale. The best way to celebrate your life's work is for Apple to continue to develop insanely great products in the future and for others to strive to emulate your achievements.

...my first computer was a used, ancient, heavy Toshiba laptop that only did text...then i got a Mac (Lombard) and my life changed....i was suddenly swept up and into the world of Apple and never looked back, five computers, an iPod, three iPhones, and an iPad later, and the whole culture that flowed from Cupertino and the mind of Steve Jobs...never met him; but it's like he was a ..relative....this has hit me much, much harder than i expected it ever would. Thank goodness for dark glasses!
will miss you Steve...the world will miss you...

RIP

...how anyone could find anything ugly to say about someone who made such a marvelous, measurable difference in our lives in so many ways...the creeps and haters can spew all the venom they can muster but they cannot dim the light that shone from Cupertino and made the world of practical, applied technology so much brighter than it was...

I wonder what we will say about Bill Gates and the other leaders of the tech revolution when they are gone.

I doubt anyone will say much when bill gates passes away.. Just because he wasn't the CEO of Apple..

I'm sure many in the Apple world will rip him to shreds.
Sadly many will be long standing members of this very forum.

The pot/kettle hypocrisy will never die.

People who claim that Apple was priced for the rich obviously doesn't know a thing about computers. For one, Steve Jobs saw to it that prices came down. The iPhone is the same price as most other smart phones on contract, the iPad is cheaper than any other tablet out there, and by the time you add all the extras to a pc, it would be just as expensive as a Mac.

I've seen plenty of pc's that are priced much higher than a Mac.

There's a difference between something that's built well, and junk.
