... this is a apple forum right?.....

stop. "an apple". this is an upsetting time for all loyal Apple and Jobs fans, with emotions running high things will be said and taken out of proportion.

Pay your respects to a dead man and his family and that's it.

My condolences to the Jobs family.

Good bye Steve, RIP

Steve, you brought so much to the computer world on earth, I hope you will do the same in heaven.

People who claim that Apple was priced for the rich obviously doesn't know a thing about computers. For one, Steve Jobs saw to it that prices came down. The iPhone is the same price as most other smart phones on contract, the iPad is cheaper than any other tablet out there, and by the time you add all the extras to a pc, it would be just as expensive as a Mac.

I've seen plenty of pc's that are priced much higher than a Mac.

There's a difference between something that's built well, and junk.
I like how PC ultrafanboys compare Macs with custom built rigs. Well, obviously it's cheaper because you actually buy parts and assemble them yourself so you don't have to pay for labour, shipping etc.

It's apt to compare pre-made PCs because, like Macs, the manufacturer assembles them. Heck, an Alienware laptop is more expensive than a MacBook Pro at where I am at and the specs are more or less similar. I would go for the Mac.

It pains me more than I can say to hear of Steve's passing even having never met him.

His vision was beyond any others and we will be enjoying the improvements he brought to all our lives for many years to come. May he rest in peace.

my girlfriend's steve jobs poem tribute

Steve Jobs

We could not bite into your orchard fruit
Or feel its crisp sweet in our teeth
Your gifts were more abstruse, packed with wires...
we slid our pointer fingers on the mandala of your music box...
tip-tapped on the keys of your smooth-screened genies...
held all the world and its tiny wings on your dial pad's beautiful grandchild...
and felt like passengers on the dolphin leap of your mind
giddy as we traced an arc above the past's mediocre seas.

Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes.

The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them.

About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire. They push the human race forward.

Maybe they have to be crazy.

How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art? Or sit in silence and hear a song that’s never been written? Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels?

We make tools for these kinds of people.

While some see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.

Rest in peace.

Some pictures I took last night in Apple Store Hong Kong
There was a nice model figure of Steve in the midst of flowers

Three days ago, I had NO intention to buy an original iPhone. I already owned one before and sold it like 16 months ago to help buy the 4. But two nights ago, I had this sudden urge to get one off Craigslist for "sentimental" reasons and just to use for a travel phone because it uses the more common mini-SIM and is easier to unlock. Then after I get one which was in pristine condition while driving through rain and fog, I watch 50/50 which is about cancer. Then I go home only to receive a text that my mom got an iPhone 3GS earlier that day. Neither of us knew Steve died until hours after his death. I didn't know until the first page I opened up with my recently bought iPhone telling me he died. My heart sank.

Coincidence, fate, or a little of both?

This is why I will always remember the day Steve Jobs died similar to remembering where I was when Pope John Paul and Michael Jackson died. I got the first iPhone (again) the day he died and now currently own the first and last iPhone he ever introduced on stage. The gamechanger and the biggest leap from the original.

His ESP on me before death. His Jedi mind trick talking to my subconscious. That is when you know SJ was the greatest and most charismatic salesman ever. When he can start convincing me in my dreams while he is close to death. THE FORCE was always strong with SJ. He was like Vader/Palpatine/Yoda/Obi-Wan all rolled into one.

people talk and dream of changing things. Steve Jobs CHANGED the entire world and revolutionised EVERYTHING we do for the better..the way we work, the way we communicate and the way we play. When world history is reviewed, Steve Jobs will be the man who took human civilisation into an era unsurpassed since the creation of the wheel...the technology revolution has elevated mankind into humankind and the realms of what is possible have been stretched and exceeded by Steve Jobs beyond what was once perceived as impossible. A colossal loss to all mankind, and the ultimate tragedy of being taken away at such a cruel age when he was in the prime of his life. You may be gone, but your vision and legacy will remain for an infinite number of generations to come...for it is your vision that has provided the platform for humanity to be more efficient and forgiving.

Thank you, Steve.

Thanks for the iPhone, which saved me from the destructive effects of depression.

Thanks for your touching smile, your charming voice, your fantastic keynotes, which warm up my soul.

Thanks for Apple, which I could stand up for.

You will be loved and missed, forever.

As much as I hated working for Apple, the one thing that was always awesome was that I worked for the same company as Steve Jobs.

I am happy to know you're no longer suffering but sad to see you're gone.

I've been in a down mood all day. I feel as if I've lost a close friend... and in many ways, I have. I was an Apple fan when I was in the 4th grade - when my parents bought my brother and I a Macintosh Plus at a garage sale for $150. I remember calling a local brick-and-mortar computer store on the phone when I was 10 or 11 asking if they had any old PowerBooks and having the clerk lecture me on how I should "forget about it" and buy a PC since Apple had only a 5% market share. I told him market share wasn't everything and hung up.

In the 6th grade I was making complex HyperCard adventure games on a Macintosh SE/30 and having an absolute blast - on a computer that was a decade old at the time!

I bought a 3rd generation 10 Gb iPod. I watched every keynote I could, streamed on my grandma's DSL connection since we only had dial-up at our house. I watched as Apple was reborn from the ashes. What a ride.

Steve may be gone but he will never, ever be forgotten.

Today I wore my gray "Designed by Apple in California" t-shirt from the Apple Company Store in Cupertino.

RIP, Steve.

Thanks for showing us that tech can be friendly and actually work without the assistance of a God-complexed IT nerd who flaunts Microsoft certifications around.

In honor, I did the same. I never had the chance to meet him, and I really wish I had - but Steve - you're this generation's Einstein. May you rest in peace. :apple:

i am in complete shock on what just happened today. I was on a flight and when I found out the news in asia, I hijacked someone's iPad so I write this message. It's just shocking and sad.

I have moved on from the iPhone but he has enriched my life so much more that that I have ever imagined. The things that were on the original iPhone were ideas I dreamed about. The iPhone was the greatest consumer product I have ever bought and it just made all of our lives....better.

My condolences to the steve's family. We lost more than a visionary, we lost a great human being.
