Just crazy.

Steve inspired us all. He changed the world in ways that can't be measured.

He saw things the rest of us could not see.

He dreamed of a better world, and made his dreams reality.

Uncompromising values and conviction.

And his life..goodness. Given up for adoption. Dropped out of college. Fired from the company he founded... only to return to save Apple from death.

Not only did he save Apple, but he turned it into the most valuable and successful company on the planet.

He enriched our lives.

His life on this rock ends, but his life's work lives on.

The world as we know it would not exist without Steve Jobs. The world will not be the same without him.

I doubt anyone will say much when bill gates passes away.. Just because he wasn't the CEO of Apple..

Bill Gates and Steve Jobs took totally separate roads since they left their respective companies. Jobs founded NeXT, bought Pixar, and went back to Apple. Bill Gates founded by far the biggest charitable foundation in the world. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has done a LOT of good things in developing countries; promoting basic health care practices such as immunizations and cleanliness. Bill Gates will definitely be remembered, for very different reasons.
 
Steve decided to go to China instead of keeping Apple manufacturing in America (and even has the guts to have called his products "premium" and "designed in California"). He's one of the reasons the country is dying.

Very true. We shouldn't make this a pissing contest between Bills Gates and Steve Jobs. Both are pioneers
 
Steve has always inspired me in ways no one else could have. He was truly one of a kind. I always knew this day was going to come, but I never wanted it to be so close. Steve, I will miss you greatly. You have always been the person I looked up to. In business, you were always the most successful. Your mysterious personality always made me want to know more. Your hunger for success still drives me. Thank you for all that you have done for me. I will never forget you, or how you have changed my world forever. You will never stop inspiring me.
 
I never got to meet Steve Jobs. It was a dream of mine; I mean I looked up to the guy. I admired all the work he had done all throughout the years. Products like the iMac, iPod, iPhone and iPad all changed the world.

I have been interested in Macintosh my whole life, just could never afford it. I have had numerous iPods my whole life, but never a Macintosh. I remember when I had enough money to buy my first mac, I was ecstatic. So I went to Comp USA and purchased my first mac computer. I loved that computer, best computer I have ever had; until I sold it. I regret selling that computer, but I had to sell it to make ends meet for myself.

I would always look forward to a Steve-Note. (That’s what us apple fanatics call the Keynotes Steve lead out in) I never got the opportunity to go to one, but that’s ok because they are always recorded and are on YouTube or Apple’s website. Steve knew how to keep people’s attention because they didn’t know what was going to happen next. He also knew how to give a presentation. That is one feature I really liked about his presentations, they were not boring. He was a natural Presenter.

I would be in school and all I would think about is the presentation that was going on at apple and how I couldn’t follow it because the website was blocked. So I would wait till I got home to see what was announced and say I WANT THAT. I would watch the keynote after school and think how cool would it be to be in the auditorium and just to see people’s reactions when the products were revealed.

As I wrap up this little letter of appreciation to Steve and his family I just want to say that Steve Never gave up, he was a College dropout and he never gave up. I admire that in him. He also started a multibillion dollar company in a garage. Him and Woz were a great team.

There is one more thing I would like to say to wrap this up. This is a quote that I wrote about Steve:

Live like There's No Tomorrow. I think that Steve Jobs lived by this quote... He was one of those persons who took life that way that it was presented to him. He took one day at a time. He also thought that nothing in life was impossible. He will be missed.

Farewell, Steve Jobs

I wrote up something that made me feel a lot better today. I thought that I would share it with you all here at MacRumors simply because I wanted to. I hope you appreciate the read, if even half as much as I enjoyed writing it. The article comes straight from my blog, where this exact writeup is also posted.

It's still difficult to think about. I don't think I've once stopped thinking about Steve in the past 24 hours. It's hard, but at the same time we're all making it a little easier on each other. Seeing such a huge and widespread community come together is uplifting.

I wore my black mock turtleneck and my favorite blue jeans today. Little could have made me happier.

Not once did I meet him, but Steve Jobs has touched my life in a way that many so-called icons and heroes of our time couldn't. I feel that God was gracious enough to put me on this planet at the same time as Steve. I was extremely lucky to witness the awesome presentations he gave, use the innovative products he dreamed up, and learn to really live a little from his inspirational way of perceiving life.

No words can describe what I really feel, and I can't believe he is really gone, but the legacy he created will never leave us. That's the most reassuring thing - that I'll always have a little bit of my hero with me every time I need to measure myself against someone truly great. He changed the world for the better, and it's always awe inspiring to realize that. We will all miss you Steve. Your impact on me has changed my life. Steve, I can't imagine life without your influence.

Last night, I learned about Steve's passing from a very close friend; a friend who equally holds Steve in a light brighter than most. A text read "Call me", and I did, knowing what we'd discuss. I was working on another project, and my concentration was blown. I opened up Safari to Apple's default start page. Three things I never thought I'd see were glowing on the screen in front of me. A large picture of Steve, his name, and below it, a set of years, "1955 - 2011", all in black and white. Ominously prominent, but very real.

I spent the evening looking up every major news outlet for articles about Steve. Some great, namely one by Walt Mossberg, and others very brief, but all of them had a common theme. A mythical titan of a man had left us, and no one again in creation will ever be able to step in to fill those New Balance shoes. I really thought hard about something; Steve Jobs lived for 56 years, each year seemingly more fulfilling than the last. Since the dawn of time, there has never been another Steve Jobs. Somehow, some way, I was given life at a time where I was able to watch him do what he did best. Innovate. I hope I can be an innovator someday.

Think back to the scientific minds and philosophers you've read about in the history books. Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein, and Isaac Newton all come to mind. Did you ever believe that you'd live to witness a man work who was equally as great, if not better than those minds? Steve Jobs belongs among those names so rightfully so, that already, you can open any book that relates to business in any way, and find some reference to Steve, Apple, or a product or industry they've created or changed. Some day, you'll be asked about this time, and you'll be able to talk about it because you were there.

This morning, when I woke up, I went for a drive. I came to a stretch of road between two towns where spreading fields surrounded you, and the road seemed to go on forever. I hoped in a way that it would, and that I wouldn't have to face reality for a while. A flock of geese flew overhead, and when I looked up, I noticed that there wasn't a single cloud in the clear blue sky. I didn't stop moving, but the world seemed to, if only for a moment, and I realized how lucky I am to have life in the face of death, especially here and now. Unfortunately, I had to turn off of that road, and I arrived at work, where I am a Network Administrator and Technician. I arrived at this job only because I was inspired years ago to get in to computers. I only got into computers because of Apple. In a way, I am where I am today because of Steve.

Two sets of dates will live forever in my mind; the 10 year period from 2001 to 2011. I remember where I was and what I was doing when the world lost Dale Earnhardt. An All-American hero in sports. I remember the shock of hearing that music legend Johnny Cash's house being burned to the ground. Now, I'll always remember the evening of October 5th, 2011, that I spent wide awake, reading and consuming everything I could about Steve Jobs. How I clung to the belief that I could somehow measure up one day. Maybe something I've done will mean something to someone, hopefully something I've said has helped somebody, and maybe what I just wrote made you realize that life is equally as fragile and precious for everyone.

Farewell Steve. You will truly be missed. You have touched my life, and endless others. I will always miss you.

Steve Jobs great innovator and businessman, but crappy human being. sorry gang but denied a daughter and she and her mother had to live off welfare for awhile.
 
Rede Globo, a Brazilian channel available here in the US had a very nice segment on Steve today. He is being honored around the world, even by his competitors and foes. His death has shocked the world. A funny thought: Neither Steve or Bill Gates finished college, both were dropouts. The thing that I find funny is if they had both completed their course of study instead of dropping out, we probably never would have heard of either one of them!
 
R.I.P. to the one and only Steve Jobs. The man that brought revolution tot he entire tech industry and has changed the future of the whole planet.

Is is the first time in my life that I feel so sad for a loss for somebody I have never met. I guess his unique creations brought us in direct connection with him in a way that we feel like we actually met him.

Steve will always be in our hearts.

Good luck with your next journey Steve.

Looking at the first post and the linked article in this thread still makes me very sad and produces this kick in the guts - we know that this would be coming, at some time we knew it would be sooner then we had feared, more recently it dawned to us that it would probably much sooner - still, I cannot believe it when I see it, it seems unreal.

Maybe this thread should be "pinned" by the moderators and Arn so it stays at MR forever. Rename it into "A tribute to Steve Jobs"
