Steve is very disingenuous

Steve is very disingenuous. Saying "we don' have the resources others have" (when commenting on why Apple doesn't support Flash)....are you kidding me? The 2nd highest market cap in the world and over $40 billion in cash .... this guy gets too much of a free ride when he's interviewed this is total BS!!!!

US != World.

Hardware business is not same as outsourced MS's software business

wohoo! asking about google

Kara: Are you going to remove them from the iPhone?

Steve: No.

I didn't quite get the joke? Does that mean he was never in bed with them and has multiple partners?

eV

I think he was referring to how Walt asked if Steve "felt betrayed," like Eric Schmidt was just wanting Steve Jobs for the sex. (Using Apple for the insider info on products.)

Steve really comes across as a classy guy IMO from this interview. They have asked some tough questions and he handles them well. Kudos to him.

Steve: Pretty good actually. Remember, they're handling WAY MORE data traffic than all of their other competitors combined.

THANK YOU STEVE! people don't seem to understand this about ATT

Ohhh, AT&T is the topic now.

Kara: What about going to another carrier?

Walt: Would there be advantages to having two in the US?

Steve: There might be.

I wonder how this conversation would go post-WWDC?

Ah. So kinda say yes, I feel betrayed, the bugger was on my board getting insider info but my sex life is great.

on the contrary what distinguishes Apple's hardware (which is incidentally outsourced) is its software ... Apple is first and foremost a SOFTWARE company.....Apple changed the CE business by marrying great software to hardware.... so this bullcrap that Apple doesn't have the resources is hard to swallow.... these lollipop questions by fawning journalists doesn't cut it.....

apple search is coming..

"Steve: They're not a search company. They're an AI company. We have no plans to go into the search business. We don't care about it -- other people do it well."

Same thing he said about phone business, then the famous what is a tablet is useful for comment from him. Apple may not get into AI business, but search is coming i guess.

6:57PM Steve: We found a way to sell the phone that we want to sell. We didn't think we could do it, but we did. We'd never been in this business, and AT&T took a big leap on us, and it's worked out really well. And we really changed the rules of the game.

6:56PM Walt: In the near future?

Steve: You know I can't comment on that.

6:55PM Steve: Well they have issues...

Kara: What about going to another carrier?

Walt: Would there be advantages to having two in the US?

Steve: There might be.

seems really possible the iphone will be on other carriers! :S

Two things I've taken from the interview...

iPhone OS 5 will have voice search based on SIRI as a direct competitor to Google

And the iPhone is definitely going to Verizon.

wow the tablet came first

6:59PM Walt: So when you built this OS, you did it in a phone. Why? Why not a tablet first.

Steve: I'll tell you. Actually. It started on a tablet first.

Nonsense.

You're confusing market cap with assets with research budget. And it's a bad confusion at that. Come back when you figure out the difference.

PalmOS had apps, and PalmGear had the store. Well before the iPhone, or even Windows Mobile. Handspring put apps on the first smartphone. Rumor is that Steve may have even tried to buy Palm or Handspring way before the iPhone.

Steve: I'll tell you a secret. I actually started on tablet first.

Oooooohhhh. Mystery backstory...
