I bet the Queen was pissed, she loves that iPod Obama gave her back in 2009. One likes to get down and jiggy with it in the palace.

This represents a black eye for the whole Knighting thing, its not as prestigious as I thought.

Wrong Steve???

With the nomination coming from the Minister for Services to Technology, i would have thought Mr Wozniak would have been the first choice, over Mr Jobs.

If Wozniak never built it, Jobs would not have been able to sell it.

Also, with the story about Mr Ive wanting to return home, and the rumoured negatory from the Apple Board, maybe Sir Jonathan Ive would stir things up a bit :)

Dissolve parliament forcing a general election, Knighting anyone she wants :)
In theory, yes, in practice, probably not.

The queen doesn't really have any power now, I mean technically she does but if she ever tried to use those powers there would be chaos.

I mean the things like when the new PM goes and asks her permission to lead the country is just more for tradition than anything.

UK is just mad they get all the Apple products later and at a higher price.

Suckers.
What? We don't get them any later than the US. They always come out the same time, if there is any difference it is usually only like a day or something which is nothing to cry about.

And the price is partly down to apple's pricing, but more down to the tax we pay on it so we should be angry at our government more than apple because of that.

Oh sorry, should I write you an essay on why I believe governments around the globe to be corrupt and utterly selfish against there people? Why China has the worst human rights and abbuse records yet the west turns a blind eye so they can make our products.
Why it's obvious Cameraon is acting Liberal policy's so he can remain the PM, how he has sold the Conservative down the road, all the evidence is there over since he took office...

Weather you take my 'opinion' as serious or not mate, the facts are the facts and you don't need to look very hard to find them...

Personally I think Clegg is Cameron's bum chum and they are all ****s. I see nor have proof to show otherwise....

Now it's about human rights abuses in China? What?
Anyways, it's not that I necessarily even disagree. Just that the way you wrote that, along with repeatedly poor grammar, undermined your point, in my view. Instead of '****s' + 'alway's' + 'bum chums' = hard to take your opinion seriously, maybe I should have written: 'low-brow anger' + 'clear lack of education on the English language' + 'homophobic statement' = hard to take your opinion seriously.
I don't want to get into a big thing, but if you want people to agree with you, don't be so offputting. Or not. Whatever.

I guess it can be seen as a safeguard against the government becoming more like a dictatorship or going totally mad. Im sure the British people would back her.

Knight or Jedi Knight.

It would not be "Jedi Knight" -- the Jedi Knights are in cahoots with the Droids.

Unless you are considering the "prequel" saga in which case the Jedi Knights are always fighting against the Droids.

Depends on your Star Wars perspective.

When you get an opportunity to legally change your name, make "Lord" your first name and your real first name your middle name. you can pay a fee to change names or a free opportunity is when a marriage takes place. All parties (spouses and children) can change names at that point and there are no rules dictating what the name change must be.

Then you have knighted yourself.

As for the royal family, the problem is that there is no way to overthrow them in the modern world. In the old days, you could challenge for the throne by force. With enough backers you could claim the throne. That isn't an option these days. So there should be a method for someone with enough popularity to somehow orchestrate the overthrow in a civil, peaceful manner.

No, you have ennobled yourself. A knight's title is "Sir".

Sir Steve eh?
Too bad, that limey PM blocked it..... Quite an honour to be even considered for.

Thank goodness he blocked it, even if it was for wrong reason. Too many people getting these honours (CBE,MBE, etc). They seem to be free with cereal these days.

These honours should be given to truly deserving people and not devalued by handing them out in abundance. Maybe even put to public vote.

When an ignorant, hypocritical buffoon like John Prescott is admitted to the House of Lords, honours start to become a bit meaningless anyway.

thats what he merits for not allowing a Brit and the Queen's compatriot the chance to return to his own country! :p

Well Prescott spoke up about the lies leading to the iraq war that killed so many for no good reason. If more had been like that, there wouldn't have been such needless death. i don't blame the politicians for the needless death anymore. I blame the voters who blindly accepted it without question. The ones that mocked others for doubting claims of wmd. These voters have blood on their hands.

Geez, Bummer, Wow, Drag, Unbelievable, Unholy!

Steve stays out of "Public" Politics, and Gordon Brown knows that. He never should have offered the invitation to speak at a public political rally.

Class guy that Gordon Brown. Remember the "Mic in the Car" incident.

Total BOBBINS! I feel for my friends across the pond during his "Rule". :apple:

Nominating yourself I see? ;)

Yeah, well a lot of people were keen to dissociate themselves from the government's actions after the event. Very few did so before the event and John Prescott wasn't one of them.

He spent virtually his entire political career condemning the House of Lords until he had the opportunity to put his own nose in the trough.

Are you telling me you've never heard anybody say (and believe) something similar to that? Really?

Sure, but they're being illogical too. I think a monarchy is pretty ridiculous in this day and age, but someone calling her the 'so called' Queen is just in denial.

Although Prescott doesn't come across as well educated at least he was genuine and spoke about his own sentiments, unlike 90% of politicians in the uk and in general who just spew BS all the time.

Are you French by the way? Because I know the french government is far from competent and just like in the uk there are a few corrupt politicians taking advantage of their positions and taking flights with people they shouldn't be connected with.

My bad. I'm thinking of Galloway.

Ah, so your typing one of these ultimate reponses to take apart someones grammer and punctuation rather then respond with anyting constructive or relating to the point? I don't really care if anyone else agrees with me because I'm sure they do, if it's the topic of politics you alway's get sides. But I would appreciate it if you can just leave me to post things in a manner I want to rather then one that you like. Thanks.

Put to public vote? Ha, that would devalue it even further. Nominating any popular reality fad star that comes along
