Except he isn't donating a few billion.

When Steve Jobs adds his name to this list:
http://givingpledge.org/#enter

then they are even. Until then Gates is doing more for the welfare of the world than Jobs is and that's not up for discussion.

Millions or billions it makes no difference. 50% is 50% and right now Steve isn't doing anything that even puts him in the same league as Gates despite being worth several billion dollars.

Even Zuckerberg put himself on that list and he still has decades to lose it all.

Bill gates donates money to deduct taxes, Steve Jobs helps but he doesn't make a fuss about it.

Why a "so-called queen"..?

I could have sworn she was the actual Queen... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_Elizabeth_II

It's a shame GoBo would make such a petty decision, but meh, I don't think Steve will be bothered right now somehow.

Slow news day... roll on tomorrow!!
As way of explanation, not to start an argument about who is right... because the USA was founded on principles which do not recognize the validity of the concept of royalty. Or in other words: Natural rights do not recognize the divine right of kings. There is even a sentence or two in the constitution, prohibiting people working for the government from receiving honors from foreign governments.

He wouldn't wouldn't want to be a Knight anyway, it would be beneath him. He'd only be satisfied if he was king.

She is the Queen, regardless of whether one is pro or anti-monarchy. Even if I was opposed to democracy, or federations, that wouldn't make Obama/Bush/Clinton "so called Presidents". :)

15 Billion in the bank for Apple and they cant start up some form of charity.... Bill Gates does a lot more than just giving money. He left Microsoft to concentrate on his charity work, he even got some of the richest people in the world to give away half of their fortunes to charity. If Jobs gives away money great.
Don't confuse individuals and companies.

I think it perfectly illustrates the type of character we were unfortunate enough to have as an (unelected) prime minister for several years. I'll refrain from saying any more because this isn't in PRSI ;)

News alert..Someone fudged their way into Parliament?

better let the House authorities know, you might be onto something here. I never knew the UK elected for the position of Prime Minister?

Care to explain??

Like anyone needed another reason to hate Gordon Brown. The man's an arsehole.
Quite. And one that the British population never elected as Prime Minister at that.

I imagine Steve would think it an honour to receive and also one that we would be proud to bestow.

Let's face it, Clive Sinclair got a knighthood. Although Sinclair made his contribution, it's quite a different league.

Oh for Pete's sake.

The title is an honor and wrought with politics. It should be no surprise that he was denied the title (for now) because of something political.

Steve didn't speak at event. Someone found that contrary to how they believe knighthood should be bestowed.

Get over it.

There's a queue for that position. One chap's been waiting a long, long time...

Anyway, speaking of rank and digressing a little - If Col. Gadafi's so good, you'd have thought he'd have been promoted to General or something by now?

Brown, if this is true your are and always will be a complete wanker!
Throw your itoys out the pram.

Well, well, in a way it is good that it did not happen. As with the usual adage of 'If you are in the cover page of Business week, you have reached the peak', such knighthood may jinx one to go nowhere but down... Sir. Gates got it in 2005 on his way out of technology. That is the time to do it.
