You mention the performance not being that fast but i think the Dalvik JIT compiler is something that you will really notice once devs recode their apps for the platform. It sets things up for future and means apps can get more performance out of the same hardware... like the game demo at Google I/O. Froyo from what i remembered wasnt touted as being mega fast though... the browser was, with the JIT good for application performance.

I also think the flash performance benefitted from the new tech...

they said froyo was 450% faster than 2.1 im not sure if it was from google or the writers ill check on that. but thats what was said. u know a lot more than me about compilers and things. i will be going back to iphone this june. ill keep my nexus one and test it out a few months down the lines to see if performance is better. as of now its crap.

why does macrumors always gana say "also since we want more ad revenue we are gana say at the end of a none related rumor random people that have been saying the same thing since 2007 believe there is a Verizon iphone"

come on first it's none related and two a person who knows anything about :apple: and the people making up these random claims since 07 know there isnt gana be a Verizon iphone this year.

Please tell me English isn't your first language.

I wouldnt say FAR ahead... but Better Multitasking, window shade Notification system, Turn by turn navigation, V8 javascript in browser, multiple vendor support, speech to text, widgets, already has multiple email account support in one inbox, push dirs from google maps on pc to phone...

i should have multi quote this sorry for consecutive post.

how is the multi tasking better? as of 2.2 i hold the home button and it now shows the recent most 8 apps instead of 6. with all those apps running in back ground it causes slow downs and restarts at times.

ill give you the better notifications system. and turn by turn. my treo 755p had text to speech. i feel is a gimmick its hardly used. ill give you widgets. push dir from google has not been implemented yet on 2.2 if so idk how its done.

i say google has just caught up or is now on par. so i think it comes down to features vs stability and my opinion android os will nvr be as stable as iphone os. maybe more features but thats it.

Promises are cheap, especially when there's no punishment for not keeping them. And with every new "sent from my iPhone" mail that's being published I more and more believe that Apple is run by a five-year old megalomanic.

"Sent from my iPhone" is the default signature on all iPhones for emails...

I spent a Summer in the US and was amused at the small-mindedness of those who condemned the use of curse words yet took their children to shooting ranges to hone their skills with a deadly weapon, got high and mighty about free speech, and thought capital punishment was underused.

If he wants to curse it's his choice, if you don't like it, piss off.

That's fine, it is his choice. I just think it's disrespectful to talk that way to someone you don't know at all. Trust me, I'm not some uptight, conservative old guy. I'm 24, covered in tattoos, and play and sing in punk bands. I say some horrible things quite often, but only when I'm joking around with friends or family.

There's a time and a place but rightfully so, it is your choice if you want to come off as a disrespectful, limited vocabulary ignoramus.

Too many words.

The only time frame they took Apple by surprise was when Schmidt was on the board plotting all this while listening to the details of the iPhone development.

"For a man may smile and smile, and yet be a villain." William Shakespeare, Hamlet.

But that's okay. Google is "open," so it's cool what they do.

This is Apple vs. Microsoft all over again, except this time Google is the new Microsoft. And the parallels are eerie. I am afraid for Apple, actually. Way back when, Apple invented a new product category and enjoyed quite a lot of success. It was innovative and different. The product was Macintosh, the innovation a "GUI", and of course a proprietary "closed" platform.

What happened? Microsoft created a GUI interface that accomplished 99% of what Mac could do, albeit not as beautifully, and sold it to 96% of the computer buying public. You don't grow market share by having a closed system where you control the hardware and software. It's 2010 and Mac market share is still in the single digits. Google is following in Microsoft's footsteps by creating an OS which it is licensing across many different hardware manufacturers and wireless carriers.

Android's market share will grow exponentially compared to iPhone OS due to the licensing strategy. And where do you think the developers will go? They will go where the market share will be - Android. History appears to be repeating itself. I think Google is going to creme Apple in terms of market share, and as developers follow the iPhone and iPad will languish.

Beware of multiples that high.

Now, this speed-up: will all Android phones get it? Why, no. Only the very latest and greatest. The others would choke on this crap. 1.6 users, go sit on a rope. Open. The rest who are eligible, wait until the update comes down the way from your provider. Maybe yes, maybe no. Why would they? They'll like you to buy a new phone, wouldn't they?

Amazing that Steve gets the "reality distortion field" treatment, when the wildest crap that Schmidt says is gospel for the googleboys.

Is nobody else thinking this beef between Apple and Google is contrived to keep the Antitrust groups off their backs?

All this scrapping between them seemed to kick off almost overnight as they had spent many years coexisting peacefully. Jobs and Schmidt still meet up in public places. It just doesn't seem to make any sense to me at all...

Not just the regulators.
Nerds also need to have a war to believe in.

It seems like a classic ploy get everyone talking Google vs Apple then in a lot of peoples minds then those must be the only two choices.

And one more thing...

Very good observation. Good job!

Pretty obvious

It's very obvious since Google knew what apple plans were, so did Apple knew what Google's intentions are. Apple knew that Google was gonna go at full force with their Android, so they had to catch up and do things like camera flash, front facing camera, and all those things that they wanted to keep for later OS. Competition is great. I'm glad it's Google they competing against now and not Windows Mobile.

You don't understand, Apple never wanted to have such monopoly over anything. It's not in their DNA.

I always see some comments about Apple's fanboys who believe that Apple invented everything - but where are they? Sounds more like a hater's provocation.

Here's one who believes that Apple invented the GUI:

The other day, I recall someone suggesting that Apple invented the mouse. :D

Seriously, give it a few years, and fanboys will believe that Apple invented the telephone. Which, of course, they did. Alexander Graham Bell was such a poser.

Odd that you would use the phrase "small-mindedness" and then proceed to slag anyone with an opinion different from your own.

Sorry Paddy, but if you actually read my quote it says that those people amused me. At no point did I get angry or slag them off, I just thought the apparent duality was comical. But I get your point, and to me, the email was utterly pointless.

Sorry pal, but that's just not punk, no matter what Avril Lavigne tells you.
