dude a jbroken iphone is leaps ahead of any droid device...

you lack of any real substantial facts makes the argument moot.

To this, Steve Jobs reportedly replied "You Won't Be Disappointed".

YES!!! FINALLY, the long-awaited PowerBook G5 will be released! ;)

Seriously, though, I'm curious to see if the leaked iPhone photos stole Steve's thunder, or if there is anything he new can show us that will at least equal the impact of the leaked photos.

Watch the 2010 Google IO and decide for yourself.

Here, I will provide the link.

Remote Wipe...

That's an awesome feature! If you ever lost a prototype iPhone that is ;)

No "sent from my iPad?" Well he better be sending it from his iPhone 4G.

I never did get that? I use my iPhone a lot and I never get those "I'm cool for using iPhone" tags on my messages. Frankly I could care less and glad that never shows up on my messages :)

My prediction:

1. New iPhone, price will be $50 lower than current pricing
2. AT&T will announce tethering is free (with a 5GB limit) and available with 4.0
3) MobileMe (all of it) becomes free, iDisk gets a large drive space bump
4) Additional iPhone OS 4 features announced and demoed including revamped multi-tasking interface (the current beta implementation is just clunky), “iPod out,” revamped notifications system, Facebook syncing, over-the-air firmware updates, WiFi streaming from iTunes and over-the-air backup of contact, calendar, bookmarks
5) iPhone OS 4 for iPad will be previewed and include widgets, revamped home screen
6) Jobs will confirm the codename for 10.7 and it’ll be Cougar or Lynx. He’ll say more to come next year.
7) They’ll be at least one surprise update/product announcement out of left field.

i like all except number 2. (part of it will be free) not all

I'm hoping that we won't be disappointed because he's doing something big. New ipod anyone? The iPod Touch is one of their best selling ipods if I'm correct, so they should add onto the line or update it. Think of it now...

the iPod Nano Touch!

Umm, that's not a problem.

Seriously, have people learned nothing from the iPhone when it comes to the general public and tech specs? Repeat after me boys and girls: Only geeks care about this sort of thing.

Android will take the low and medium end markets because it will appear in handsets that are free on low-cost plans and under £100 for PAYG users. iPhone will continue to dominate the high end because it offers, by FAR, the most complete smartphone solution and stability in the platform.

iPhone has never dominated the market in terms of units shipped and has never been intended to do so. Apple could never keep up with anything like the demand such dominance would require anyway. They're more than happy being the 800 pound gorilla in the high-end high-margin market. Where they do dominate utterly is in an understanding of the consumer market that no other tech company even gets close to matching. They'e shown it with the iPod. They've shown it with OS X. They've shown it with the iPhone. They seem to be showing it again with the iPad. And they'll continue down that path which makes it incredibly difficult for the competition to get ahead of them as Apple keep taking unexpected turns and making it work.

THAT'S the trump card Apple have in their hand - their ecosystem and integration with it are second to none on the consumer side and it's something Google (or anyone else at this point) simply can't match, at least not in the short or even medium term. It won't win them the mass market but, and I know I'm repeating myself here but it's worth hammering home' APPLE AREN'T INTERESTED IN THE MASS MARKET. It's a nice bonus if they can pull an iPod again but they're far more interested in producing high-end products that can pull in a healthy product and establishing themselves as THE brand name in the computing space (yes, smartphones are computers, please don't argue this point you'll only look foolish...).
?

"but they're far more interested in producing high-end products that can pull in a healthy product"

I think the point that the maximum in terms of "high end" we can expect from Jobs at WWDC regarding iPhone is same 1Ghz A4 found in iPad, maybe 512 ram (same spec a smany phones out today) IS the problem.

For macs, in terms of design (certainly not raw specs) Apple do do high end... But in Phones? Please. Right now the last two models of phone theyve put out are cheap as hell plastic, specs and materials (HTC legend) have already been bettered and only the OS is what you could argue is 'high end.

I dont think anybody considers the iphone 'high end' at present. They MAY reclaim for about a month, till the Tegra 2 devices start shipping, and others etc.

At present Apple have just one update per year for iPhone. There are multiple major hardware manufacturers releasing multiple models per year, without keynotes.

Anyways I think people really should be glad that Android is an option... like one of their speakers mentioned which I think is real fair point: you dont want just one company driving innovation. You want companies to be able to bring tech like WiMax LTE etc, not being drip-fed at the rate which makes Apple the most money, and wait for them "to be the best at it" and make it magical

Its sort of like the whole point Steve was trying to make re Flash.

Is nobody else thinking this beef between Apple and Google is contrived to keep the Antitrust groups off their backs?

All this scrapping between them seemed to kick off almost overnight as they had spent many years coexisting peacefully. Jobs and Schmidt still meet up in public places. It just doesn't seem to make any sense to me at all...

I cannot help but sort of agree with this. There was a lot of scrutiny beginning over the Apple/Google relationship and now they're competing on EVERYTHING. Not that I don't think Google really wants to compete, but I think it's in BOTH of their best interests to leap frog each other in order to leave Microsoft in the dust.

If anyone thinks Android OS is "waaaaay ahead" of iPhone's OS jailbroken, then they're just flat out wrong. Also, I love how there's NEVER been a response to WHY it's better.

...would that be because he can't substantiate it. That's what I thought.

I'm not checking the thread again because there's no reason to do so.

I know I will be dissapointed,for sure.
Wow, that is sad!

Promises are cheap, especially when there's no punishment for not keeping them. And with every new "sent from my iPhone" mail that's being published I more and more believe that Apple is run by a five-year old megalomanic.
First, relax - not even sure it's Jobs. Second, if you know you will be disappointed no promise will help you. And if he was five year old, it would be that more impressive.

Steve will probably also present front-facing camera, LED flash and 720p on the iPhone, and all the fanboys will think Apple invented all those things (Android already has them).
And because of Steve's arrogance and greed, I am kind of glad at this humiliation.
I always see some comments about Apple's fanboys who believe that Apple invented everything - but where are they? Sounds more like a hater's provocation.
Steve's arrogance and greed? LOL.

I hope SJ's words "You won't be disappointed" and "taking it to the next level" mean that the long in the tooth Macbook AIR gets a serious update. I really don't care about the iToys.
Ha, interesting, for me the MBA is one of the toys.

This is a not merely a prediction of peoples response to the announcement, it's a direct order from Steve Jobs.
You Won't Be Disappointed.
That is just stupid.

What? Care to elaborate?

Steve is going to announce that AppleT&T is going to stop selling computers and replace them with iPad Pros.
Not only do you not need HDMI, BD, obsolete ACDs, affordable & upgradeable towers,
$300 netbooks, $3K Mac Pros with $100 video cards and no upgrades,
you don't even need computers anymore.
The cultists, er, attendees will be joyfully delirious.

And one more thing...

How, what is Android far ahead on?:confused:

I wouldnt say FAR ahead... but Better Multitasking, window shade Notification system, Turn by turn navigation, V8 javascript in browser, multiple vendor support, speech to text, widgets, already has multiple email account support in one inbox, push dirs from google maps on pc to phone...

If anyone thinks Android OS is "waaaaay ahead" of iPhone's OS jailbroken, then they're just flat out wrong.

And why do you think comparing a jailbroken iPhone to stock Android is in any way a good comparison ?

Android phones can be rooted, can have 3rd party OS images installed, etc.. Let's compare those if we're going to use a Jailbroken iPhone.

Seriously, stupid discussion gets stupider the more people participate in it.

ive been asking why. i take it they dont know why. they added update all apps. we have that. they have added cloud syncing but its not here yet so it dont count. they have added flash I dont count that because not everyone wants it.

now i do use a nexus one as of now with 2.2 its not that fast and the only thing they did that was mentioned was a fast browser. and i must say it is blazing fast

Koopa 35

You mention the performance not being that fast but i think the Dalvik JIT compiler is something that you will really notice once devs recode their apps for the platform. It sets things up for future and means apps can get more performance out of the same hardware... like the game demo at Google I/O. Froyo from what i remembered wasnt touted as being mega fast though... the browser was, with the JIT good for application performance.

I also think the flash performance benefitted from the new tech...

This...coming from the same guy who said.."not to worry" about lack of investment in the Mac platform and "we'll be taking Macs to a whole new level"... we all know how that turned out.

Nothing to see here folks. The real news is that Google is lighting a fire under Apple's behind.

Steve Jobs on Macbook Pros : "Not to worry".
Steve Jobs on WWDC : "You won't be disapointed".

I find these random email messages from the Turtlenecked One to be really creepy. Anyone else?

Mainly because so many people take them to be tablets brought down from the mount - not emails from an eccentric iCEO. Jobs will stretch any fact to Apple's advantage - or even create "iFacts" that aren't true to further his goals.
