I think I would be a little ticked off too, but its not Japan's fault, its the airport security rules.

The airport security rules ARE Japan's fault.

Half the stuff taken from folks at those searches (in every country) could easily be mailed or Fedexed to them if only security would allow THAT!

The rest could be boxed for customs to process in normal course.

That airport items auction is going to make news for a change!

I think he had them as inspiration for a new icon or form factor.

Job Requirements

Unrelated (mostly) but I had a woman at a supermarket profusely apologize to me because she asked to see my driver's license when I used my credit card. She examined it closely and then said that she was very sorry to have to do that. I smiled at her and told her she should never apologize for doing her job and making sure someone is who they say they are. Apparently there are jerks who give her a hard time about this. Makes NO sense.

My job requires me to ask you for your social security number or national ID number before I will read the rest of your post. Also I will need you to remove your underwear and put them in the bin over there. I am sorry to have to do that.

Note to airport security: look for the heavily-perspiring guy. He must be hiding something. A full body cavity search may be in order.

Were you dropped when you were a child? Wouldn't you want store clerks to verify the identity of the person using one of "your" credit cards? I certainly would not want my credit cards being used by a thief.

Personally, i thank them for checking.

Lots of people do that. In England, the going rate for a forged "handicapped" sign is about £500. Many people think it's worth it.

Just because a lot of people do it doesn't make it right. I find it disgusting to be honest with you. My sister has a disability and doesn't even use her handicapped placard.

You don't...

Eric Slivka, join the pwned posse

I'll tell you the same thing I told Neil Hughes over at AI: you got pwned. You should be embarrassed. Your reputation should be more important than a quick parroting of a fake story.

Next time, maybe verify your sources before you decide to run a story?

If you are going to play at journalism on a blog, at least act like a journalist.

It's pathetic how the credulous, rabid haters fell all over themselves to believe this phony story. (And they'll do the same for the next one.)

Apologies not forthcoming. :(

It is amazing that MacRumors has become the gathering place for the anti-Apple brigade.

Thanks for your input, but I disagree...it's all a bit of fun. Bloomberg reported it, Fortune reported it, etc. Had it not been picked up by major media, it would have been a non-story, but it obviously turned hot.

Have a little fun with it, even though it's been debunked.

The Internet...it's apparently very serious business.

I talked to Neil this morning and he said he's never heard of you. He and I went for coffee and ran into Gruber and we all did some facetime with Jacqui C. and even she said she's never heard of you. We all had a good laugh about it though.

See, WildCowboy is right, the internet is serious business!

I'm not a fan of Apple, I'm a user of their products which is interested about rumors about Macs, not gossip about their CEO.

This isn't a fansite for Steve Jobs, it's a site for users of Apple products.

Well, it's more of a site for rumors about Apple products. The site for Apple product would be apple.com ;)

Ninja head scarf with black turtle neck... Steve would be an awesome ninja.

By the way, I love that people here think this actually happened, especially Steve saying he will never come back to Japan again LOL. People will take any made up chance to get mad at Steve Jobs...

I would be careful with that... I doubt this is the first time he has been to Japan... if you know what I mean.
