Sorry, I IMO you have your priorities confused.

The 7.0 Earthquake in Peru was pretty serious. Irene may or may not be serious.

Apple's change in command is really minor, considering that Tim Cook has been running the show for much of the last couple of years.

It's pretty creepy how many earthquakes there were in the past couple days.

The earth was upset about something that's for sure. It's probably because the earth knew about Steve resignation early.

id like to think my purchase of an iPad 2 today had something to do with this?!

all the best Steve, you have made me an Apple addict and i cannot thank you enough for it.

Tim will do a great job, it's not as if Steve is completely out of the picture.

Please.. he loves to be in front of a camera.. every few months he has to be on stage in front of thousands of cameras parading around. Like he'd donate anonymously hahaha

Again, just mindless and vindictive slander coming from you without any evidence to back up your comments.

With a heavy heart I say thank you Steve for all your hard work over the years. Congratulations on all your successes, be well, and continue to be a leading voice at Apple.

Sad to say

I say this with a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach, and a tear in my eye. I have a great admiration for Steve Jobs and what he has done. I wish him only the best. But we will be hearing of his death in the next 2-4 weeks. Mark my words. And it will be a very sad day for all of us.

He's on camera talking about Apple.

When's the last time Steve has made anything about his personal life public? How often does he appear on national news programs or anything like that? Never.

He's a VERY private man when it comes to his personal life. You obviously know nothing about him.

Thank you Steve for dragging the IT industry kicking and screaming where it didn't want to go.

It's scary to think how far backwards we'd be without your efforts. Remove the Mac, the iMac, the iPod, iTunes, iPhone and iPad from history... God only knows, we'd probably have cell phones with DOS on them!!

Tim, well done, mate. Very optimistic about you as CEO.

Agreed, At the very least I have to give credit to Apple for helping keep retard-friendly 'features' out of Windows.
Unfortunately not even Apple can contain the tide of stupidity, it is far too large for them to handle.

Nnnnoooo!!!!

God Bless you Steve! Obiously it is your Health, and I hope you will pull through, and live a long life stress free as the CEO.

Steve turned around a dying company, let's hope Tim Cook can keep it that way!

Why would say that at a time like this?

Don't you have any compassion for the man?

Think of everything he's done and accomplished and how he has changed the industry...

SMH Individual :(

Yes, I have compassion.. just as much compassion as Steve Jobs has for me.

I'll let you figure that out.

No CEO donates privately.
They are very public about it because it helps their company's image, and helps drive sales. The only conclusion is he did NOT donate in any significant amount.

I think hopefully with this we can see some changes in the lineup, especially on things that Jobs did not really "get".
1. Maybe better desktops that are not "all-in-ones"
2. Perhaps the options of two button mice, trackpads, etc. I'd love to have some programmable buttons on the top or side of a magic trackpad
3. Cheaper prices, I can forgo the aluminum to get a better processor,
4. Lower prices for memory
5. support of hackintosh maybe
6. better emulation of business apps
7. Fewer glossy screens
8. Blu-ray
9. More updates with new processors, etc instead of just waiting and waiting

Apple makes the biggest profits in the industry by a huge margin, Acer is losing money, HP is leaving the PC business completely. Somehow I think Apple must be doing something right.

Rest in peace, Steve. We will miss you.

Perhaps if you'd have done 1/4 of what Steve Jobs has done in his life, he might have heard about you.

Go troll elsewhere.

So for the average person they don't deserve compassion unless they are famous and billionaires? Why only have compassion for rich people, hmm?

You have no evidence to support that.

This isn't about image. Steve has never cared about that. He's not the type of person to be completely arrogant and flaunt his charity giving around. You can tell that by just listening to him speak.

Perhaps his cancer could have been treatable if he donated even a dollar to a cancer charity

no that would be too much to ask of him! worth 5bil+ and hasn't donated a cent except to political party leaders.. cough cough..

And perhaps cancer research is overfunded relative to the amount we spent researching other diseases.

What if Jobs had put his entire fortune into research for heart disease, dementia or ALS and then been diagnosed with a terminal cancer? Or AIDs? Or any of a myriad of diseases that kill? Would you, because of some personal bias, be sniggering because he chose to support a cause other than yours?

Though members of my family have died of and survived cancer, I tend to think other medical research that is just as valuable is underfunded while cancer research gets the lion's share of research dollars.

People walk, run, race, dance, stand and do countless other things (such as wear yellow wristbands or buy pink ribbons, pink shoes, pink sports jerseys, pink lemonade and pretty much anything else) to raise money for a cure for cancer. I estimate that 6 to 8 out of every 10 medical-related fundraisers I hear of are cancer-related. Given that, are you really going to cry poor for cancer research?

You really believe that?

So then finally, what is the last piece of technology that he acquired - not made by Apple - that really delighted him? He pauses for long seconds, looks down, puts his hands on his knees, looks away. "I actually bought a bicycle recently. It's just ... wonderful."

And how did he choose it? What sort of bike? What's so great about it?

He holds a hand up. "That's as far into my private life as I want to go," he says. And with that, Steve Jobs moves on again.
