I posted this on another forum but thought I'd post it here too.
It's such a shame that people can be so disgusting towards a guy, who, has done more than they'll ever do combined. If the Google bosses quit or the MS bosses quit there wouldn't be even a whiff of this type of negativity.

Apple may not have started touch screens or apps but they sure as hell showed the world how to do it on a grand and simple way. Just like the rest that follow, who had to follow, seeing the success Apple had with its iPhone/iOS.

People say they are overpriced, overprotected but they simply work, perhaps too simply for the geeks out there and their modding needs but selling 20m units a quarter tells a story all by itself.

People are writing that he is already dead, and perhaps he is close to that fate but so what, show some respect. Apple have pushed/dragged technology forward a lot faster than it would've been hadn't Apple constantly innovated, anyone who says they don't is clearly small-minded.

It isn't about fanboys yapping at each other, if you lower yourself to that (regardless of which 'team' you support, you're fanboys non the less). It's a about a guy thats achieved a lot in life and helped build the richest company in the world, yet his personal wealth is no where near that of other similar company CEO's / Founders. It's about respect and a thank you for your commitment and vision.

I know he maybe isn't ready to quit, but I'm sure that he'll be content with his life and happy of what he achieved...

Finally, again, even though I sound like he's already dead, I just hope he can enjoy whatever time he has left with his family and friends.

Peace.

:apple:

So for the average person they don't deserve compassion unless they are famous and billionaires? Why only have compassion for rich people, hmm?
No, I never said that. You think Steve doesn't read in the news about some nobody being killed and he doesn't feel bad about it? Of course he does. He's a human being.

I guarantee he's not taking shots at that person's character like you are doing right now.

Very sad. I figured he would not come back when he took his medical leave--it seemed pretty clear that his problems were not solvable. This clinches it. I can't believe it, but within a year I don't think we'll have Steve around any more.

Apple will not be anything like it was with him. Apple was all about an artiste in command. Tim Cook is a loyal soldier, not a creative visionary. In fact I'm afraid Apple is mostly full of soldiers at this point, people chosen for their capability to divine Jobs's tastes. He's not the type to nurture individuality of creative vision.

They have a product lineup that will keep them doing all right for a couple of years, but after then they'll start fading out. They'll be all attitude without vision.

You have no evidence to support that.

This isn't about image. Steve has never cared about that. He's not the type of person to be completely arrogant and flaunt his charity giving around. You can tell that by just listening to him speak.
He certainly cares about sales.
Maybe he's not arrogant in his personal life, but nobody would pass up the opportunity to increase their standing for no extra effort.

And perhaps cancer research is overfunded relative to the amount we spent researching other diseases.

What if Jobs had put his entire fortune into research for heart disease, dementia or ALS and then been diagnosed with a terminal cancer? Or AIDs? Or any of a myriad of diseases that kill? Would you, because of some personal bias, be sniggering because he chose to support a cause other than yours?

Though members of my family have died of and survived cancer, I tend to think other medical research that is just as valuable is underfunded while cancer research gets the lion's share of research dollars.

People walk, run, race, dance, stand and do countless other things (such as wear yellow wristbands or buy pink ribbons, pink shoes, pink sports jerseys, pink lemonade and pretty much anything else) to raise money for a cure for cancer. I estimate that 6 to 8 out of every 10 medical-related fundraisers I hear of are cancer-related. Given that, are you really going to cry poor for cancer research?

I have no personal bias as I don't care what charity I donate to. I was simply using cancer as an example since, well, Steve knows a thing or two about it since he has it. If you wanted me to say some personal bias bs I would have listed things that I suffer from but I didn't ;)

Don't you think that its kinda cool Tim Cook's first big call of duty will be announcing the iPhone 5?

Nice of Steve to hand that chestnut over - a great way to introduce yourself.

Will Tim do a "one more thing"....

I really did not expect this so soon. I knew it was coming, I just didn't think i would be now. The iPhone 5 keynote is gonna be really strange this year. 2011 is just the year of changes for Apple, isn't it?

How could you possibly know that? Many people donate anonymously.

Just because he doesn't publicly donate, doesn't mean he doesn't.

Plus, you don't know if he is behind that countless charities that I'm sure Apple donates too.

Again, just mindless and vindictive slander coming from you without any evidence to back up your comments.

He's on camera talking about Apple.

When's the last time Steve has made anything about his personal life public? How often does he appear on national news programs or anything like that? Never.

He's a VERY private man when it comes to his personal life. You obviously know nothing about him.

Why would say that at a time like this?

Don't you have any compassion for the man?

Think of everything he's done and accomplished and how he has changed the industry...

SMH Individual :(

Perhaps if you'd have done 1/4 of what Steve Jobs has done in his life, he might have heard about you.

Go troll elsewhere.

You have no evidence to support that.

This is from the past 2 pages... guys, don't feed the trolls. Just ignore. You're doing exactly what the trolls want you to do, don't fall for it.

more wow

The earth was upset about something that's for sure. It's probably because the earth knew about Steve resignation early.

Are you serious? Did you forget a smiley emoticon?

In the time since I posted the earlier message, a 6.2 earthquake occurred in Vanuatu. Monday there were 3 earthquakes as large or larger than that little temblor in Virginia (Sumatra, Vanuatu and Japan).

Watch http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsww/Quakes/quakes_big.php to see the constant earthquake activity on our planet - with or without the turtle-necked overlord.

There is obviously way too many posts here wishing Steve luck for my little post to make any difference, but I suppose I'd regret missing the opportunity if I didn't say it...

Good Luck Steve!

For whatever the Jobsians credit to Steve's "vision", I'm happy for the change. It's time for some risk taking and true innovation. The core issue with Apple is that they haven't really "innovated" in 3 years. Don't you dare say iOS, it hasn't really changed for longer than that. Lion is actually a step backwards, they got rid of the last poly MacBook, and all of their computers look alike, which isn't good.

Mr. Cook. Take the steps.

Put Lion on an iPad 2 form factor - or at least let customers choose if they want the stripped down "big ol iPod Touch", or if they want the FULL experience on the right form factor. Watch it fly off shelves. Profit.

Release a standard non-iMac (read: customizable) desktop computer.

Bring back different designs for your laptops.

Innovate. Not stagnate.

TO Mr Jobs. I hope you do well physically. But your finger-on-the-trigger mentality is just not healthy. No more Jobsians. As with Charles Manson, the cult must be broken.

eheheheheh

I think hopefully with this we can see some changes in the lineup, especially on things that Jobs did not really "get".
1. Maybe better desktops that are not "all-in-ones"
2. Perhaps the options of two button mice, trackpads, etc. I'd love to have some programmable buttons on the top or side of a magic trackpad
3. Cheaper prices, I can forgo the aluminum to get a better processor,
4. Lower prices for memory
5. support of hackintosh maybe
6. better emulation of business apps
7. Fewer glossy screens
8. Blu-ray
9. More updates with new processors, etc instead of just waiting and waiting

Some of these changes will be nice now that jobs' sometimes illogical decision tree may be out of the way. I have a friend who works at apple and they think that some of these will probably happen over time. She told me that people were afraid to disagree with him, but maybe dialog will be more open.

Dude you are gettin a Dell Bitchez!

Chill, it was just a light comment.

Also, something funky is happening to the Earth. Here's for 2012!

Actually, please report any posts you think are out of line and let us deal with them. Ignore in the thread but report. Please.

Imagine someone taking bankrupt Apple to the wealthiest company in the world. This man is Steve Jobs! For human history, the most successful man! A legend!

Be well, Steve! Wish you the best!

Saw this little gem on Wikipedia, made me laugh. Looks to be removed now.

Tim Cook will do a fine job, he's been running the show for awhile anyways.

I hope he gets to spend quality time with his family, he didn't look well the last time around.

Without reading the 2 pages, this was good timing. Stock will dump with the news, and pick up with the media event for the phone. I'd expect the event in the next 2 weeks....

But most importantly, thanks for the years of great gadgets and best wishes you have more to spend with your family Steve.

I thought the post was sarcastic enough without the smiley man.

I hope he's OK.

Overall, though, the whole Apple team is excellent, and I don't expect there to be a significant change in the way they do things; after all, Steve jobs is still part of Apple.
